Mary is Moving On . . .
My good friend Mary Lloyd  will no longer be writing regular articles for the Journal after this month. Read her "final" article here. Among other things, she  will be spending time promoting her new first novel, Widow Boy, available from Amazon on September 15th. She will also have a new website and blog. If you have enjoyed her articles, you will love Widow Boy. I will let everyone know when and where it is officially available.
Robin Williams: Victim of Excess Adenaline
Have you ever felt anger but couldn't figure out what was causing it? Could the cause be too much adrenaline? Apparently, too much adrenaline is responsible for many health issues. Dr. Michael Platt wonders if the suicide of Robin Williams, attributed to depression and drugs,  might have been the result of excess adrenaline. If you are inclined to doubt that suggestion, read Dr. Platt's article

How is Your Vitamin D3?
A friend recently had a surgical procedure. He normally takes 10,000 units of Vitamin D3 daily -- giving him a near normal blood level. After the procedure his D3 level was alarmingly low. Unfortunately, his wife did not make sure he was getting his D3 during his stay at the hospital.  Vitamin D3 is relatively inexpensive. See some choices here.
Be Inspired: Meet Roselio Muniz
With the lifespan having increased by 30 years, it's important to take care of your health. If you are going to live to 101, a superior diet and exercise will pay off big time. Watch the video of Roselio Muniz and while watching it, take note of what he puts in his blender for breakfast every morning. Also note that he exercises daily. Many men at age 60 don't look as good or are as fit as he is. Video courtesy of GrowingBolder.com
Are You Prepared?
Dementia is skyrocketing. Don't think it can't happen in your healthy family! Just in case -- why not prepare to protect your retirement assets and lifestyle? Financial expert Henry Montag has written an excellent article explaining what's involved. Download a copy here

Mastering the Art of Husbanding
I don't know about anybody else, but I'm tired of books and articles telling women how to be more attractive to men. Good news! Shirley Wickland has written an easy-to-understand, common sense  "how to" just for men, Mastering the Art of Husbanding. Every husband and potential husband needs this book. My personal opinion (no hate mail, please) is that males are born dense as dirt, and if they don't have good parents as role models they stay dumber than dirt to the detriment of the unlucky women they condescend to marry. The list of things every husband should know about his wife is worth the price of the book. Read more here
What Works for You?
Is there a product or service you like? Tell us about it so it can be added to the list on the What Works For You page of the Journal. I've added Ready To Wear cosmetics available on HSN to the  page. My daughter wanted to get eyelash extensions but changed her mind after seeing how the RTW product worked -- at a fraction of the cost of actual extensions. Pretty amazing stuff if you use mascara.

Book Reviewers Wanted
Educator Dr. Sherry L. Meinberg is looking for folks to review  her 11th book, The Cockroach Invasion. A sheet with all the particulars can be downloaded here If interested in doing a review,  please send your snail mail address to [email protected] and she will send you a copy forthwith.
New  Addition to Our Family
Meet Sam, six-year-old Corgi rescued from the local shelter. He was taken to the shelter as a "stray", believe it or not. He has the sweetest disposition imaginable, unlike our other Corgi, Lola, who is the most disagreeable (but loveable) beast you can imagine, and probably for a good reason. Lola is also a rescue, having been mistreated by her former owner. The handsome guy is our wonderful grandson, Michael.
