Welcome to the NEW Put Old on Hold Journal! Sent Tuesday, August 2, 2011 View as plaintext
Hi ,

Welcome to the NEW Put Old on Hold newsletter which is now the Put Old on Hold Journal. I've been working on a new format for quite a while and finally developed one that works. It has been fun, frustrating and a great form of mental gymnastics. When you work with computer code it literally forces you to remember what you did two seconds ago! If you discover bugs, please let me know.

WHAT'S INSIDE?

I recently spoke with Rita Alexander, founder and president of StemGenex.com and the International Stem Cell Institute in La Jolla, California. Rita has a fascinating story about her personal success with stem cell treatment. Listen to the conversation - I apologize in advance for my untimely hoarseness.

Margaret Dunning is 101 and changes the oil and spark plugs in her 1930s Packard. Watch the video that will inspire you. It certainly inspired me. (I don't know how to open the hood to refill the window washer fluid. But I have tried, you understand.)

Patricia Weaver is making a documentary about the "Children of the Greatest Generation" -- those who grew up during World War II. I spoke with Pat about her project and here is the link for the conversation If you are a child of the Greatest Generation and would like to participate in her project, Pat is eager to speak with you.

The Know-It-All Sisters, Mary Lloyd and Barbara Morris, respond to a plea for advice from a reader known only as Damn Tired of It (DTOI) who is damn tired of smarmy, lying, duplicitous politicians and, well -- read it for yourself. (Sister Mary is far kinder to DTOI than is Sister Barbara.) If you have something to say to, or about DTOI, let's hear it!

Joyce Shafer has a great article on patience and tolerance. If you are like me, you could use more of both! I love "Dr. Joyce" and look forward to her insightful articles each month. Don't miss them!

Liam McCurry has a new thriller you will want to know about; Barbara Pachter has good advice on expressing thanks; Image Architect Sandy Dumont has a contest and an e-book to giveaway; There is a timely warning for men and women about staying safe when driving alone; and new research to help you live and feel better.

Financial advisors Henry Montag and Ron Roel have sound financial counsel especially for grandparents. Henry and Ron advocate family meetings to prepare financially for the future to avoid stress that often occurs when families don't plan ahead.

Lura Zerick is a popular contributor, encouraging older readers to forget about their age and enjoy being productive. Lura gets fan mail!

Rebecca Morgan has taken a position on what many consider "mindless" social networking activities. See if you agree. (I agree 100 percent!)

Comments are now accepted at the end of articles. As you read articles, please let the authors know what you think. The rules are simple: Be civil if you disagree, and do not use words that would cause your prim and proper aged grandmother to gasp or become apoplectic.

As always, if you have questions or comments, please let me know! I'm always happy to hear from you!

Till next month,

Barbara Morris
