QBOTMC News - Sawtooth Fan Block, Resources and Zucchini, Bacon and Feta Spaghetti

Published: Tue, 09/05/17

Hi ,

We hope you've had a good week again this week.  Hooray!!!!!  It's FINALLY Spring
again here, and I'm so happy I could sing!  Well, I won't do that to you, but I can now
put Winter behind me, and start feeling happy about going outside again.  Still a bit
cool at night, but I'm looking forward to those early mornings when you wake up and
can just tell from the sun and sky that it's going to be a good day.  The air is warm,
and the smell of flowers and sounds of happy spring-time birds...  I've gone all lyrical!
Maybe I need to design a proper spring-feel quilt??

I know some of you are now heading into Autumn/Fall, and that's a nice time of year
right now too, so we should all be happy this week!!

This week's block is a pretty pieced fan block.  It could be a little fiddly, but I think
it's worth the effort.

This week I came across a couple of rather cool online resources that you might like.

The first -

The Digital Research Team at the British Library has curated this set of highlights from
more than one million public domain images from within our digitised collection of over
65,000 books from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

These could be fantastic for ideas for designing your own quilts/appliques/embroideries...
And being Public Domain works now, there's no copyright issues in using them at all!

The second -

I've had a big hexie quilt on my quilting bucket list for a while now.  I have mostly designed it,
but am still fiddling around (and dragging my feet) before I get started.  I used this hexie
calculator to figure out how many I was going to have to make (4200+!!).... just in case
you need it too...

I might have a go at this one night for dinner too -

or until golden. Add garlic. Cook for 1 minute or until fragrant. Add zucchini. Cook, tossing, for
