QBOTMC News - Wheel of Fortune Block, FQ Cuts and Cherry Ripe Bliss Balls!

Published: Tue, 05/16/17

Hi ,

We hope it's been another good week for you this week.  Well, I now have a teenager all of
my very own!  Master 13 is now just that, and we've had the party to prove it!  He's a fairly
low-key kind of kid, so it was mostly family getting together, with lots of food and presents.
Much to Miss 11's disappointment, it really is just too cold to swim, so they all had to play
other games and amuse themselves instead.

My young Master is pretty good really  - we do have arguments, but I've discovered that
with boys you know where you stand.  If there's a disagreement, you have a fight then it's
over.  Girls, on the other hand.....  We're still a couple of years away from being a teenager,
but she's practicing hard right now... :(   It's really only now that I can have proper sympathy
for what my sister and I put Mum through....

This week's block sounds like a game show.  The Wheel of Fortune Block is actually quite a
pretty star block, and you'll see what I mean when you click the link and download the
pattern from the link below.

I've shared these before, but they're always handy to know...

Fat Quarter Cuts

How many squares you can get from an 18" x 22" piece of fabric?

6 - 6 1/2" squares
12 - 5 1/2" squares
16 - 4 1/2" squares
30 - 3 1/2" squares
50 - 2 1/2" squares

This was at the bottom of an email I received, and I just love it!  (I can out-teenage my teenager/s!)

Women are Angels.
And when someone breaks our wings,
We simply continue to fly...on a broomstick.
We are flexible like that.

(And they'd better believe it!!!)

I couldn't go past a recipe called this:

'Cherry Ripe' Bliss Balls

Ingredients

    100g / 3.5oz dried cherries
100g (about 6) pitted dates, chopped
45g (1/2 cup) desiccated (finely shredded) coconut, plus 2-3 tbs, extra
2 tbs cacao powder, plus 2-3 tbs, extra
    1 tablespoon coconut oil
    1 tablespoon honey

Method

Step 1

Place all the ingredients in a food processor and process until well combined. Roll tablespoonfuls
of the mixture into balls. Roll in extra coconut or cacao to coat.

Easy, healthy, and yummy!

Until Next Week - Happy Quilting!
