Here are a few things:
- Face-to-face meetings are more personal
- There is more warmth in a face-to-face meeting
- We might start talking about things that were never planned - ultimately building better bonds
- Both parties get to understand each other as "whole" persons - more than two dealmakers
- Face-to-face meetings accelerates trust building - ultimately leading to make it easier to do business.
So, if you are trying to avoid a face-to-face meeting in the name of "efficiency," think again.
2.2 New opportunities open up in heart-to-heart conversations
I have a few conversations almost every month with people that I love and respect. These conversations have really no agenda as they are termed as "catchup conversations" where both of us are "catching up" on each others lives.
It is interesting in a way to have these conversations as in most cases because of all the connectivity we have (RSS, Twitter etc.) we almost are caught up in near real-time on what's happening.
But I have enjoyed each and every such conversation that I have had. At the end of that conversation, both of us are not only "caught up" but discover that there is more to life than just keep running.
As a bonus, I have discovered many "opportunities" to learn and grow when I have these heart-to-heart conversations. Yes, there are business opportunities that come up too but that's not what I am after in these conversations.
Do they provide the best return on investment (ROI) from a pure business standpoint?
May be not - but life is bigger than business and they provide a very good ROI for my life.
What about you?
Are you having those heart-to-heart conversations regularly?
If not,
time is to start NOW!
