Pinterest is TOTALLY addictive!! And right now, the reasons for using it are so compelling that I am taking a quick break from work to write this for you!! That's the good news and the bad news My work days are so jam-packed and tightly booked that if I don't schedule Pin Time and honor it, a couple of hours will pass in the blink of an eye and I am scrambling to get back on schedule!! If you are not familiar with Pinterest, it's a very simple concept ... a visual bookmarking service with a strong emphasis on sharing things that you love and that interest you! You organize all your beautiful finds from across the internet on 'pinboards' - virtual wall boards - that you can pin photos, fabulous recipes and ideas to. You can have as many pinboards as you want and pin as many things to them as you want. Lots of people are using Pinterest to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, organize their favorite recipes, collect craft ideas, and so much more. You can save gift lists, wish lists, inspirational words, fashion ideas, menu ideas, gardening ideas, fitness information ... whatever you want. You can even create a virtual dream board for yourself !! VERY. VERY. COOL!! The addictive part is when you start looking at other people's pins - browsing pins and pinboards created by other folks is FUN, discovering new things, getting inspired, re-pinning the ones you like ... it goes on and on and on. It's really hard to stop! You can follow your friends to see what they are pinning as well as finding new friends who share your interests. Pinterest is free to join ... but you have to request an invite first!! <<>> Everyone I know is on it or wants to be on it! However, it's not open for simple signup. You have to have an invitation to start pinning. You can request one from Pinterest directly - it takes about 48 hours to get approved or you can request that I send you one and I will get an invite sent to you right away!! If you are selling products online, you just might want to consider adding Pinterest to your marketing funnel! A few days ago, TechCrunch published an article reviewing Pinterest's amazingly fast growth - Pinterest Hits 10 Million US Monthly Uniques Faster Than Any Standalone Site Ever According To comScore. This is really significant to business owners who are blogging to build a business online because Pinterest is currently driving MORE referral traffic than Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube COMBINED!! Pinterest is a great place to get some new and creative ideas for blog posts. Browse through pinboards using a keyword search related to your blog topic. You're sure to find a diverse list of pinboards and pins to get your creative juices flowing. Click through some of the results and see what people are sharing on their pinboards as well as which pins are getting a lot of repins, likes, and comments. These are likely to be images and videos that will get your blog audience talking and repinning YOUR information! The private mastermind I belong to has been digging into Pinterest marketing extensively for the past 6 weeks to determine it's viability as a source of referral traffic and as a profit stream. Hands down, everyone who is using Pinterest has seen increased exposure and traffic to their sites and blogs from using Pinterest. Some have reported back that they have seen nice increases in sales and profits which they are directly relating back to their products' exposure on Pinterest. There are 10 Niches that look really promising at this point in time! After an intense coaching session with my teacher, I reluctantly started using Pinterest myself. I was thinking ... OH NO not another thing to add to my already overbooked list of things to do! I did it anyways because of the group's results ... I pinned some of my food photos, some of my favorite books, started my bucket list, added some inspiration and wisdom pins ... and I decided to pin some information about a special that a company I love and do affiliate marketing for is running for Valentine's Day! I was pleasantly surprised when I reviewed my traffic data - there was an 18% spike in traffic directly related back to Pinterest! Certainly not huge a huge jump in traffic - but the cost to me was about 15 minutes of my time .. no PPC spends required!! AND I sold two specials!! Happy Valentine's Day!! Marketing and promotion on Pinterest does need to be handled with care in order for it to not be considered spam. You must pin more content from other sources than your own, or you'll look like you're only interested in self-promotion. No one will follow you and you might even be found in violation of Pinterest's terms of use if you use your pinboards solely for self-promotion. Even though this is a visual book marking service, the opportunity for some serious engagement and networking exists. Find people in your niche and start to engaging with them by liking, repinning, and commenting on their pins. They might start doing the same for you. And they will put your pins in front of a wider audience. Some of that exposure may turn into blog traffic from people who see your pins and want to learn more from you! The big key here - BE YOURSELF ... be authentic, be genuine, be heart-centered! Build relationships with other Pinners ... you never know what sort of an opportunity could be waiting for you as a result of that relationship! As someone with my own WordPress and Content Management business, I can brand myself there in small ways. Or I could just be an affiliate marketer for products and services I use and love. Did you know that if you sign up for an Amazon Associates account, you can make money if someone buys something through your recommendations on Pinterest? Just don't go spamming the board with things that you have no personal experience with! That just stinks ... It's unethical. For example, I've pinned books I love to read. I use my affiliate link. I'm totally genuine in my recommendations. I products I LOVE because I know other people out there will feel they're a good buy and will benefit from them. I don't just go randomly pinning things to get a commission - that's UNETHICAL! Seriously ... i don't have kids and everyone who knows me knows that I don't have kids. If I started promoting things for kids, I would be called out in less than a New York minute by my friends. They would NEVER buy kids' things from me. And, they would know that the only thing I am interested in is the commission attached to the product. I would lose alot of credibility with them and that would be bad business all the way around! One of the BIG take-aways that I got from Mari Smith's recent Extreme Facebook Fanbase promotion is that: unless you're getting 'up close and personal' with the subtle blending of social buzz and Social Commerce, your fans will leave you behind in a mouse-click Mari is spot on with that statement. Alot of formerly high powered marketers are having client retention challenges of epic proportions. They have taken themselves so far out of their heart centered communications with their clients, fans and followers that people are refusing to do business with them. I don't see it being any different with the people you meet and network with on Pinterest, Youtube, LinkedIn .... Pinterest takes social networking and commerce to a whole new level due to the visual impact of the photos and videos being shared! If done right, Pinterest is a potential gold-mine for ethical marketers and business owners. Within my Mastermind Community we have actually been able to identify some very HOT Pinterest Niches. Editor's Note From Rose ~ Are you rushing around like mad getting your last minute shopping and Christmas cookie baking done? I know I am and I am still trying to find a couple of extra hours each day to get everything done!! I was thinking about time toady and how we never seem to have enough of it. Good time management is an important skill when you are committed to getting the most value out of everything in life. With the holiday season in full swing, I feel that it's just a really good thing for all of us to remember to take some quiet time for ourselves. That's what I did and I used some of that time to think about my business plans for 2011 so that I can start 2011 with a BIG BANG! 2011 is going to be a critical year for many business owners. The winds of change are blowing hot and fierce. And we all need to effectively and efficiently work within our strengths and maximize the resources we have at our fingertips. By: Chef Rose Mis Can you believe that 2010 is almost over? You know when I was a little girl, I always heard my parents and the other grown ups talking about how fast time flies by. I never really appreciated what that meant until I hit my late 40's. Guess what? They were right! I would go to bed only to wake up and find another tiny little crow's foot. One morning I realized I couldn't read the newspaper any longer, my arm seemed to be a lot shorter than it was the day before. I remember sitting there shaking my head, trying to figure out when I managed to go from Da Blonde Bombshell to the Bombed Out Blonde ... YIKES ... Where had all the time gone to and how in the heck am I going to make it slow down! Did 2010 zip by for you as well? This year F L E W right by for me ... 2010 has been a very interesting year, that's for sure. For some folks it was their best year ever, for others it was their most challenging. Regardless of where anyone falls in that mix, it's a good practice to take some quiet time before the New Year gets here to take a good hard, honest look at where you were at in the beginning of the year, where you are right now and where you are going next year. Taking stock of the past year made me realize just how grateful I am to be surrounded by some REALLY successful entrepreneurs. These folks have openly shared the stories behind their seemingly overnight success. What a great reminder for me to keep the faith and keep on doing what I am supposed to be doing ... NO EXCUSES ALLOWED The stories they tell of their challenges - near fatal sickness, multiple 6 figure debt, foreclosure, bankruptcy, terrible stuff that happened to them when they were kids ... hammer home the point that EVERY successful person, at one time or another, had challenges and difficulties. But, they found a reason to say Oh, Yes I Can and they just did it. Even more inspiring, they have taken their stories and turned them into client and customer MAGNETS. Their MESS has become their MESSage !! This past summer I was privileged to interview at least a least a half dozen 6 and 7 figure income earning entrepreneurs - network marketers and online marketers - on my Blog Talk Radio show. I received dozens of emails from people telling me just how grateful they were to finally hear the truth about how these folks had created their success. People wrote to me to tell me that they were relieved to know that they weren't alone in their experience of struggle and self-doubt. They were relieved to know that everyone has struggled and doubted ... wanted to QUIT ... they were grateful to hear the unvarnished TRUTH. Their belief in themselves and their dreams was bolstered big time. Never ... Ever ... Give Up on Yourself and Your Dreams! You were given those dreams for a REASON! I am convinced that there is NO WAY TO FAIL as an entrepreneur unless you JUST GIVE UP! I know, I know ... sounds really cliche, but it's the stone cold truth. There are simply too many people that have proven this to be the key factor to their success time after time. Here are 3 simple things, that if done consistently, ultimately produce success: Keep building and improving your skills and knowledge (this builds self-confidence and your value to others) Keep increasing the number of people you expose to your products, services and business (market with your hair on fire) JUST DON'T QUIT (toddlers don't quit if they fall down a dozen times ... they just pick themselves up and do it again) That truly is the secret recipe to success in life and business. Take a minute to write those 3 things down on Post-Its and stick them up EVERYWHERE ... your computer, your desk, the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator door. Those constant reminders will keep you focused on what is really important! Every time you read one ... simply say Oh YES I can! Guess what ... You WILL because YOU said you CAN! Every successful person that I know has great strengths and great weaknesses. What you choose to focus on and develop often determines how fast success comes to you. An honest assessment of what you are really good at and what gives you the willies helps to keep you moving forward. Most people, myself included, have a tendency to focus on improving their weaknesses instead of super charging their strengths. Weaknesses are NOT an issue unless we let them become what we are experiencing struggle with. There is more than one way to cook a chicken! (I own 5,000 cookbooks that prove it :-)) You just have to use the method that gives you the best results as effectively and efficiently as possible. You can always take the time to master something new later on. Here are some great questions that will help you discover your strengths and charge up your results: What am I really good at? (writing, meeting people, listening to people, making videos, speaking on the phone ...) What do I really dislike doing? ( live presentations, making videos, writing ...) What story do I tell myself about the thing that I dislike doing? (negative past experiences and results) Why am I good at those other things? (positive previous experiences and results) Can I keep on improving doing the things that I am good at? (resulting in total mastery) Am I willing to do the things that I am good at consistently so that I give the results enough time to show up? Am I willing to keep track of my results, use that information to help myself grow, and celebrate even the tiniest of results? And here is the most important question to ask for 2011. What did my results in 2010 teach me and what can I do differently this year? When I got REALLY honest about 2010, I was able to create a new business strategy that I feel great about following. I took a look at how I was spending my time and I respectfully released and blessed alot of time vampires from my life. I chose to embrace a No Excuses Allowed mindset that allows me to just say No to that whiny, pitiful little voice that keeps on telling me to quit because the whole thing is a waste of time and that I am not good enough to do this. I realized that the coach I was working with wasn't the right coach for me. So I hired a coach whose results and philosophies mirror the results that I want for myself and the mission I have for my business. I reviewed each product, tool and service that I was paying for to build my business. I ruthlessly cut the fat. I set into place a work schedule that allows me to have enough time to maintain balance with work and life. I created an avatar of my perfect customers and clients based on solid research and testing. I formulated a marketing strategy and calendar that will ensure I get my products and services in front of lots of the right people while providing huge value along the way... all focused around what I am really good at already. My intention is to invest in the right kind of training to learn additional skills when the time is right to do that. This really is a BACK TO THE BASICS ACTION BASED business strategy that requires immediate implementation of everything I learn, measuring every result I get for every action I take, so that I can adjust my activities along the way. The end result showing up as a large list of raving fans and customers and a nice healthy profit in my business. The BIG question is, What did YOUR results in 2010 teach YOU and what can you do differently in 2011 to get the results you really want?
