Wendy's
Week
A busy
couple of weeks meeting some amazing people.
First off, I spoke at the home of Dale Bourke for her Red Tent Woman
Event which was a lot of fun. I always enjoy meeting
inspiring women. One lucky lady won a very useful door prize
- a ticket our upcoming event!
Then off to the sunny Gold Coast for the VIVA Conference where I shared
how to use Social Media as part of your business strategy to connect
with clients and customers.
What's your favourite way to connect with clients? I'd love to hear
your thoughts.

what is your success rate when it comes to getting in front of an
audience that wants to buy what you are selling? Could you do with a
few more clients? Would you love to get in front of the right people
without spending all your waking hours trying to do it?
If you
answered yes, make sure you take a look at our upcoming event here.

Why
You Need a Facebook Business Page
Nobody can deny that, right now, Facebook is the top social media site
being used by people across the globe. Statistics as of
January 2010 reveal that Facebook has over 350 million active users and
half
of them log on to their accounts in any given day. In fact,
most people spend, on average, 55 minutes a day using Facebook.
In terms of active
pages, more than 700,000 businesses are currently on
Facebook and across these
pages, there are more than 5 billion fans. Mind
boggling isn't it?
For those who have not yet jumped on the bandwagon,
particularly people in
business, now is the time for you to jump in. If you don't,
quite simple, you and your business
are missing out.
Being on Facebook, particularly if you're running a business,
is an amazingly effective way of attracting more people who
can become your
potential clients - if you do it right. Not only that, you're
expanding your horizons because you're reaching a
global market should you choose to do so.
A good start is to set up a business page separate from your personal
Facebook profile account. Why? Facebook business pages are indexed by
the big search engines such as Google. It's one more way
to get your business more
traffic and increase your potential for profit moving forward.
When picking a name for your
page, you can use your business name or choose a specific one
that will easily catch attention. Avoid
using generic words that are likely to cause spam. But be warned - once
you've chosen your page name you can't change it so take your
time and choose wisely.
Once you have a few people that
like your business page, you are able to choose a "vanity" URL for your
page. For example, our Facebook page is
http://www.Facebook.com/savvywebwomen. That's far easier to
remember than
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wendy-Moore-Inc/365773404831?ref=ts
Once again, choose wisely as you cannot change your mind once you've
chosen a name.
Remember to link your Facebook
page with
your other social media accounts. This will help you save time when
updating your other pages because with only one post, the other social
media accounts automatically get updated such
as Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
Promoting your Facebook page on your websites is a great way to build a
following. In fact, each time a Facebook user "likes" your
page, Facebook puts a link back to your
business page on the profile of the visitor's
profile page. This means even more exposure for your business
page.

Question
1 What
has been your biggest challenge in business and how did you overcome it?
I think it was that I was so keen to start my business that I tried to
do everything
at once in such a short period of time, which isn't a good
idea. I
quickly learnt that
I wasn't superwomen and there were only so many hours in the
day so I
had to
start planning and prioritizing tasks.
I have to do lists and created what I call an
"ideas" book where I
write down
every idea in my head onto paper. This allowed me to focus on the tasks
in
hand. I still use this today as I am continuously coming up with new
ideas.
Question
2 If
you had to start your business again from scratch, what would you do
differently?
I
definitely wouldn't produce a product from scratch or be the
first to
introduce a
concept to Australia which was what happened with my first business
(Tinytalk
- Baby Sign Language). It was great in principle but
extremely hard
work
educating the market. Also the capital outlay to produce books, DVD etc
was
huge. I think if I had to start again I would definitely start off with
a digital product.
Question
3 Who
do you admire and why?
I think I would have to say
it's
all those women out there that
absolutely no limiting beliefs of what he is capable of achieving and
has the
ability to create marketing campaigns are working so
hard juggling everything so that they can make their lives better for
their families.
Question
4 It
takes a lot of determination and dedication to succeed in business.
What keeps you motivated?
Seeing that I am making a difference and I get to help other women
succeed
in business. Also the fact that I am creating a business that gives me
a good
lifestyle with my family.
Question
5 What
are your 3 biggest success tips?
- Have a support network and a
"buddy" who I can bounce
ideas off.
- Invest in myself and my business - It is
so
important to learn new things
to be able to grow. It is also critical to invest money in your
business for
things such as marketing, which without you wouldn't have a
business.
- Change to market needs - If something
isn't working,
change it. Change
your business to what your market wants, not what you think it wants.
