READ: Sweeping Changes to Facebook Business Pages
Facebook have announced major changes to Facebook Business Pages that
will take effect on 10th March 2011.
In a nutshell, Facebook are changing the way Facebook works "under the
covers". It's a bit techo, but stay with me - Facebook are changing how
Tabs on pages work - they're phasing out FBML (Facebook mark up
language) in favour of iFrames (that is, the website code used behind
the scenes to build the tabs on pages). Still with me? :o)
What
does it mean for you?
If you currently DO NOT have a Facebook business page and you wait too
long, after 10th March you will not be able to add custom tabs like you
can today (using FBML) when you finally do decide to create one.
We don't even fully understand the full impact of the changes yet.If this is you, my suggestion is that you
get your page created asap - well before 10th March!
For now,
existing pages with existing custom tabs (using FBML) are fine and can
be edited.
However, even
on existing Facebook pages, if
you don't already have custom tabs set up (you know the ones you see
with an image, a video link, a newsletter sign up box, etc), after 10th
March, you won't be able add this functionality to your page as easily
as you can today. We don't even know if you'll be able to add
Custom Tabs. So that means no Welcome Tabs, Special Offer Tabs,
Newsletter Sign Up Tabs, you get the picture.
What you need to
do
If you have ever considered getting a Facebook Business page for your
business but have been putting it off, you need to act now. Don't
wait until 10th March as it will be too late (you have only 23
days!). It takes time to put a page together and you do not want
to be caught in the last minute rush and miss out.
We can help you
We can help you set up your Facebook Business page or fix up your
existing page. We have built many client pages and you can view
examples here.
To
encourage you to take action (remember, only 23 days left) and to avoid
a last minute rush, I'm going to reward
the action takers with a $100 discount.
Not
only that, I'll throw in Google Analytics on two of your Facebook
Business page Tabs. So that's a total
saving of $197.

"As

media but found the setup all a little difficult.
We
had heard Wendy speak on the correct use of social media and knew that
she was the perfect person to assist us in the setup of our Facebook

liaison between Wendy and ourselves and I am absolutely delighted with
the result. Thank you Wendy!"

Question
1 What
has
been your biggest challenge in business and how did you overcome it?
Employing my first staff member. As I was the only person in my
business for
many years, my clients came to my business for my work. So when I
became
pregnant and decided to employ another dog groomer to help and then
have
them do all the grooming while I had my first child, a lot of clients
kicked up a
fuss, refused to let the new staff member touch their pet, some even
left. Being
pregnant helped me and the business overcome this challenge as I had no
choice and soon - to my relief - the majority of clients settled down
just fine. We
still have this problem to some degree every time I employ someone new,
but we
now have a "no choice of groomer" policy (the really stubborn clients
we charge
extra), where my clients understand that their dog will be groomed by
the next
available groomer no matter who they are. To do this I train all my
groomers to a
high standard and expect no less on every dog groomed.
Question
2 If
you
had to start your business again from scratch, what would you
do differently?
Learn
how to say "No" a lot sooner. Other than that nothing, I have no
regrets.
The only thing is that the industry has developed a lot since I started
17 years
ago and where there was no training available back then, there are many
dog
grooming course becoming available now.
Question
3 Who
do
you admire and why?
My mum!I worked as a staff member at my
mum's Ballroom Dancing studio as I was growing up and now she work for
me as a receptionist/bather 3 days a week(which sometime includes
babysitting), on top off babysitting for my two sisters the other two
weekdays, and helping out with all the kids on weekends. And although
she is still pushing me to be a better person, groomer etc. she is my
biggest supporter. She is totally amazing, I would not be the person I
am today and can only wish to be the person she is with a huge heart
and never ending will.
Question
4 It
takes
a lot of determination and dedication to succeed in business. What keeps
you motivated? My clients, both canine and human are my motivation. They become part
of
my Pet Perfection family, a lot of my clients have seen me grow from a
shy 19
year old, through the tough starting up years, on to marriage and
children and
in return I have seen many of their puppies grow up and pass on.
The support given and received from both sides is what keeps me going.
Working with animals is not for everyone but for me I could not do
anything else, even the
little buggers that bite still reward you, in the knowledge you have
made them
comfortable and sweet looking for the next few months at least.
Question
5 What
are
your 3 biggest success tips?
- Get personal with your clients.
- Great Customer Service.
- Continue to learn and improve, nothing is ever
perfect.
