We can't complain too much about our Winter weather. It's been beautiful and we've had the sun shining most of our days. Even though we've stayed away from long periods of freezing weather, we have still needed our heat. This creates dehydrated or dry skin that can be itchy and uncomfortable.
You can help yourself a little everyday. Using a washcloth, poof or body brush to exfoliate and clean every day will help keep dry skin cells sloughed off. This action prevents dull looking skin and helps your moisturizer penetrate better.
Moisturize! You wouldn't believe how many people don't actually use their lotions! Use your moisturizers on your face and body; your skin will thank you. Once this becomes a habit, it will be nearly impossible to skip this step in the future. You'll love how comfortable your skin is.
Water, water and more water. Even when we drink 6-8 glasses a day, that may not be enough for most of us. Especially if you use small glasses. Listen to your body. If you're tired but you don't know why, drink water. If you have dark circles under your eyes but you slept well, drink water. It's possible the cause is dehydration.
Here are Dr. Morrow's suggestions for helping yourself be more comfortable.
*Take quick, tepid showers
*No harsh soaps and only where you absolutely need it!
* Use moisturizer on skin that is still damp. For cold days, take it in the shower with you so it warms up a bit.
