Snowflakes or Skin Flakes? Sent Tuesday, January 17, 2012

    Winter Flakes

Are you seeing skin flakes instead of snowflakes?  Not good!

Thus far, this mild Ozarks winter has spared us from heavy snowflakes on the ground.  But your outdoor activities and holiday celebrations may have left your skin dehydrated.  This results in a dry, dull and flaky complexion.

What to do?
1. Amp up your exfoliation. A couple of extra applications of your glycolic serum or wash, or BHA/enzyme micropolish helps whisk away dryness and accelerate cellular turnover.
2. Take time for a creamy hydrating facial mask.  10 or 15 minutes with our Collagen Infusion or Nourishing Anti-Oxidant Mask provide instant results.
3.  Combine microdermabrasion or chemical peel with your home care to really amp up your results.
4.  Hydrate from the inside out. Less caffeine and more water.  Add a cucumber or orange slices to boost the flavor and add antioxidants.
5.  Continue daily use of your sunscreen and moisturizers.
6.  Dry skin on your body?  Follow brief, lukewarm showers with moisturizing
lotion while your skin is still damp.

Healthy Habits
Eat healthy for a strong immune system.  Lots of fruits and veggies, especially the green stuff...mmm mmm good and good for you, just like your mama said!

Wash your hands!  Do we really need to talk about this one?  Use soap. Rinse.  Dry carefully with a clean towel or paper towel. Follow with a moisturizing hand cream to prevent dry cracking fingers.

Don't share!  Don't share eating utensils, Coke cans, coffee cups, or towels. Stay away from people when you are sick. And even that cute little baby with a runny nose can pass along a virus.

Get plenty of rest.  A tired stressed body is less capable of fighting virus and disease.

If you do get a cold, Mayo Clinic actually recommends Chicken Soup. And good old fashioned water with lemon or tea with a little bit of honey, helps every time.
