Hello

What do Olympic Gold Medalists, Academy Award Winners,
and CEO's of Fortune 500 companies all have in common?
They all...
....are intensely goal driven.
....have a passionate obsession with excellence.
....know how to compete and win at the highest levels.
....have a coach that knows how to bring out their very best.
and I'm sure their goals or resolutions for 2011 are still on
track!
Now, suppose for just a moment that you could gain access to
and pick the brain of the guy who coaches these type of people.
Do you think you might be able to learn a few things that could
improve the condition of your life and career?
Well here's your chance as you are about to meet one of the most
accomplished and in-demand coaches, and perhaps the most extreme
performance acceleration program on earth.

You'll like what you find, and you'll love the results it
delivers! I've written about his program before on my blog and this could
be the kickstart you need to start achieving.

Hello

I've included a wonderful video on my latest blog post, full of people
doing fantastic, highly skilled things. Many are pretty scary too!
Its amazing that despite fear affecting our confidence and stopping us
doing things, we also embrace it.
Why is it we watch horror films or ride roller coasters for the experience
of being scared witless? I discuss that as part of my series of posts
looking at fear. Please add your own comments.

Just a quick update as I haven't posted or sent out a newsletter for a couple

a lot longer to finish off than I imagined. As part of this project I have created
my first video Quotes for Inspiration and Self Confidence.

Its only 2.5 minutes long and the quotes are illustrated with my own photos.
Please check it out and let me know what you think. Its either on my blog:-

Hello
My recent blog post discusses gratitude, and evidence that finding time
to regularly write down what you have to be grateful about does work
in improving how we feel.
http://confident1.com/gratitude-make-difference
Its very easy, especially if we suffer low self esteem, to get stuck
just dwelling on what isn't good, what isn't working, in our life.
For the past two weeks I've been suffering from some sort of flu virus
and feeling quite sorry for myself. I've taken this as a wake up call to
remind myself to be grateful that I do, generally have good health.
Exactly a year ago my car turned itself into a bonfire in the middle of
the night. Although at the time it was a shock and great inconvenience
I can list several positives that came out of that misfortune. I was
extremely grateful that no-one got hurt and the damage to our house was
quite minor. See the video here:-

A belated happy 50th birthday to Anthony Robbins. Nice of him (or rather
his marketing team!) to send me an email letting me know this, and how I
can also celebrate and unleash the power within me at the same time.
My sister was born on the same day as Tony Robbins 29th February 1960.
We didn't connect online, but by phone. As its not a leap year, she doesn't
get another proper birthday till 2012.
My sister, Susan, didn't want anyone to make a fuss about her reaching
50. She's the sort of person who doesn't want to make a fuss about anything,
let alone celebrate.
I've learnt to appreciate that celebrations can be marvellous boosters
to how we feel. The trick is to emphasise a memorable experience, rather
than lavish presents. Experiences we remember, gifts wear off (very
quickly).
Which reminds me, I need to plan something special for our 25th Wedding
Anniversary this year. Any suggestions?

Hello

Welcome to the latest newsletter. Today, an update from my recent blog posts...

Start Losing Control

Control is an interesting concept that affects our self confidence. If we don't feel
in control of a situation, for whatever reason, it is likely that our anxiety levels will
increase.
But
in life the opposite of being in control isn't so much being out of control but
having to live with uncertainty. I would argue this is essential in the modern world,
where so much we cannot control.
But rather than fear this or run away from it, learn to relish it. This post looks
at control and how to start loosening our grip on it.
http://confident1.com/start-losing-control

Is Optimism the Foundation of Self Confidence?

Are you an optimist? Do you naturally look on the bright side of any situation? Do you expect the best outcome - or the worst? This post discusses an article by Bud
Bilanich, who comes out with the bold quote:-
Optimism is the foundation on which all self confidence is built

Can't say I totally agree with this, but it was worth discussing optimism and positive thinking. I don't believe that positive thinking is the answer to all our ills, but it usually beats negative thinking!

Will Smith on Life

I've always been somewhat indifferent about the actor Will Smith - some
good films, bit full of himself, etc. Recently I came across this video
compilation someone has put together where he expands on his
philosophy to life and success. I surprised myself by finding it really
inspirational and motivating.

Probably not everyones taste - see what you think

Hello

Welcome to the latest newsletter. Today, an update from my recent blog posts...

10 Quick Tips for a Confidence Boost?

As I have flagged up before, lists are popular. And lists of ways to boost
self confidence or self esteem are quite frequent, often rehashing the same ideas.
The post discusses a list I recently came across which has gems such as
Get a Haircut!

I go onto suggest that rather than quick fixes there are better ways to build
long term confidence. I expand on one of the quick ideas straighten up
with a broader look at improving posture.

Your quickest way to start radiating confidence is to sort out your posture
see the post here:- http://confident1.com/10-quick-tips-confidence-boost

Boost Self Confidence Fast

This post has a short, slick video of a power-dressed woman called Sharon
Melnick. I shouldn't be rude as Sharon puts across a very useful message
about indirect and direct confidence building.

Indirect methods are very much tied up in having a concern about what others
think of you. You direct your energy and attention to managing others perceptions
of you, not building real confidence. I'm very conscious that this is something I
have done in the past. You either go out of your way to get people to notice you
doing well, or go to lengths to avoid their disapproval.

I slightly disagree with her direct approach, and again I think the emphasis on
a speedy fix is misplaced. See what you think:-

Hello
Happy New Year, Welcome to the latest Self Esteem Review.
#~#~#
This is a relatively short message just to let you know I have posted
a review on my blog of Amy Twain's ebook

Fabulous Self Esteem - Right About Now
http://confident1.com/review-fabulous-esteem
Whilst on the whole I think this is a well written ebook that many of
you will find useful, I do have some criticisms of what Amy has written.
The publishers sales page is (as ever) over flowing with benefits, so
I've tried to put across a balanced opinion.

So, to find out if its something to help you, please read my review
here

As ever, please leave any comments - especially if you've read the
book yourself.

SELF ESTEEM REVIEW
Live you life in full 365 days a year - just try missing one...
published by David365
http://confident1.com
Hello
Where did December go? 2009? The Decade?! Life seems to zip past faster
as you get older. The end of a decade is a sobering reminder that we
only get 7 or 8 decades (if we're lucky) in our short lives. Its up to
us to make the most of them.
#~#~#
I've posted twice to my blog over the past week, both trying to give you
something to reflect on as the year draws to a close. I'm no great fan
of New Year Resolutions, and I found a great article by Vic Johnson
that sums things up beautifully in Forget New Year Resolutions - They
Don't Work
http://confident1.com/forget-year-resolutions
Vic also mentions having a life plan, rather than short term nagative
goals like quit smoking or lose weight. This is something i want to
return to in 2010.
My other recent post looks at how two people overcame major life
adversity - one losing her legs in a terrorist attack, the other his
sight from disease - to be successful in their respective lives.
What separates them is their attitude. As Gill Hicks says:-
I don't feel incomplete without my legs, I feel fortunate to have all I do

Quotes of the Day

An old man said to his grandson, Boy, I have two tigers caged within me.
One is love and compassion. The other is fear and anger. The young boy
asked, Which one will win, grandfather? The old man replied,
The one I feed. ~ Indian tale
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to
success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.
~ Albert Schweitzer
The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total
responsibility for our attitudes. That's the day we truly grow up.
~ John C. Maxwell

#~#~#
I hope 2010 is a great year for you. Do spend some time reflecting
on 2009, or even the past decade. Celebrate your successes, learn
from your mistakes, be prepared to make the most of what you have got.
Best wishes

SELF ESTEEM REVIEW
Live you life in full 365 days a year - just try missing one...

http://confident1.com
Hello
About 500 copies of Self Esteem Exercises have now been downloaded.
The only feedback I've received so far is what a naff title (or words
to that effect!)
I'd be interested in any feedback, good or bad, as its the first ebook
I have created.. And if you have suggestions for a better title...
Either reply to this email, send to @David365 on Twitter, or use the
contact form on my blog. http://confident1.com/contact
Incidentally, if you never downloaded your free copy, go to

#~#~#
Please, Not Woman Only!
Some other feedback was that this newsletter was too feminine.
The use of women only in my last newsletter title reflected that a free ebook
I was recommending had that in the title. I did stress that Heather's book
was equally useful for men.
Likewise, whilst the Dove self esteem campaign is aimed at young women,
it is still an issue men should be wary of. Men suffer from eating
disorders as well as women (although women vastly outnumber men).
In my opinion, whilst much advice you find regarding self esteem can be
aimed at women, little is gender specific. And obviously as a male who
has had his own self esteem problems, my sole interest is in what works!
