Hello

Welcome to the latest Self Esteem Review.
__________________________________________________

I hope 2009 has started well for you - and its a bit warmer that it is
here! Mustn't grumble. In the UK moaning about the weather is a
national pastime, partly because our road, rail and air transport systems
never seem to cope with even slightly bad weather.

I know I quoted him last time, but I always remember a quote from
Zig Ziglar
"Never judge the day by the weather"
Don't let bad weather dampen your feelings, mood or behavior. Today
will never happen again. Make the most of it.

I blogged last year about the problem with new year resolutions and
why its not usually the best way of making changes. My latest post
looks at when new year resolutions break down, and how to learn
from the experience.

The post also touches on the low self esteem issues behind many
resolutions. Do you really need to lose weight, or should you learn to
like yourself "warts and all"?

Women only?!

I am still looking out for good, self esteem building sites to bring to
your attention. Unfortunately they've been quite poor of late. But
today I came across an unusual, but interesting, one produced by soap
manufacturer Dove. I have no idea whether or not Dove is a global
brand, but in the UK they have run some high profile adverts featuring
"normal" women (i.e. not "body perfect" models).

Their site pursues that theme and seem to have grasped that the
majority of people who buy soap have less than perfectly shaped
bodies! But they say they are very commited to "freeing the next
generation from self-limiting beauty stereotypes" and have put
together some useful resources for developing self esteem.

Whilst aimed at women (particularly young women/girls) I personally
found little that was gender or age specific, although a bit pink and
fluffy in presentation. Anyway, see what you think
