After a break from blogs and newsletters, I welcome a new year of interior design inspiration. Books and magazines occupied my time during the break. In this issue I share Tony Duquette to awaken your senses.

Lavish Visions, Inspired Design by Tony Duquette
From the time Tony Duquette was discovered in 1941 by Elsie de Wolfe and until his death in 1999, he was known and admired for his exuberant and unique signature style. He is considered by many as an American design icon. Duquette left a legacy of artistic fantasy and still inspires.
In 1951, Tony Duquette became the first American to be honored with a 1-man exhibition at the Louvre in Paris.

Duquette had a large and loyal film industry clientele. Among them: Hollywood tough guy James Coburn. In the actor's foyer, vividly painted turquoise with a coral-colored staircase railing, Duquette created a massive chandelier centered on a mirrored disco ball. The chairs and settee are intricately carved Indian designs. Drums serve as side tables and, in the corner, as a pedestal for a ceramic pagoda, one of Duquette's favorite decorative items.
