Howdy Folks and Good Day!

In all honesty, I did not intend to send out another issue of SFPNN this year. And this really isn't a full issue... but I believe it's an important one. I think a lot of us have felt the way Joseph Walker describes in his article. And I think a lot of us could use a Christmas miracle to lift our spirits... which is exactly why I'm sharing it now instead of waiting until next year. Come to think of it, a Blessing Larry sent me was pertinent too. Merry Christmas, my Friends. And thank you to Joseph Walker, Larry Hogan and all of the people who make it possible share our positive news throughout the year.
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health and Prosperity,
Rev. Jeanette

Value Speak - by Joseph B. Walker
PEACE ON EARTH?

The air is crisp and cold in the mountains where I live - just as it should be in December. The final remnants of last weekend's snowfall can still be seen here and there on the lawn, with more snow expected in the next day or two. They say we'll have a white Christmas this year.
So why haven't I been feeling ... you know ... Christmassy?
Christmas lights and decorations glow with their special charm from every house and store. Christmas music is playing everywhere I go, and I really love Christmas music - well, most of it, anyway. And we have a brand new baby grandson just a few miles away, and there's nothing quite like holding a sleeping infant in your arms to bring the Christmas spirit home.
Usually.
But there's a bittersweet feeling to this particular holiday season. Recent tragic events have, for me at least, cast a somber shadow over what is traditionally the most wonderful, magical, joyful time of the year. This year, Longfellow's words are packed with meaning:
And in despair I bowed by head:
There is no peace on earth, I said,
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
Then today I received an email from Brooklyn, a young friend who is currently stationed in Afghanistan as an Army medic. It's a hard place to be, and a hard job to do. She sees tragic suffering and death all around her all the time - sometimes daily. But instead of allowing herself to be overwhelmed by the harsh realities of her life, Brooklyn says she has chosen to find at least one good thing each day upon which to focus during the holiday season.
For example, she wrote about traveling recently with a convoy, during which one of the vehicles - a fully-loaded 40,000-pound monster-size vehicle - lost control and rolled two-and-a-half times. It's the kind of incident that can result in serious injury - or worse - and she rushed to provide medical attention.
Upon arriving at the overturned vehicle she was startled to see two of the four passengers already standing in the road, unharmed. She climbed inside the gunner's hatch to find a third soldier collecting his gear, also uninjured. Then she saw the fourth and final passenger climbing out the back. He had the only injury: a cut on one finger, Brooklyn wrote.
There were so many things that could have gone wrong, she continued. The gunner could have remained in the turret instead of dropping into the vehicle (the turret was completely destroyed). They could have all decided not to wear seat belts; they could have forgotten to tie down the gear. But they didn't. It was a miracle that every single passenger was able to walk away from what could have been a devastating accident.
So, I chuckled to myself as I read the email, rather than acknowledge the cruel circumstances of her camo-covered Christmas, Brooklyn is going to view her tour of duty as one long, continuous Christmas miracle - complete with red and green Band-Aids for injured pinkies.
That's when it occurred to me: maybe Brooklyn knows something that I don't. Maybe peace on earth, good will toward men is more of an attitude than a news report. Perhaps real peace comes from within, and has more to do with how we decide to approach the challenges that life thrusts upon us than the reality of those challenges themselves. With the right attitude, a bitter winter blizzard becomes water for the garden next spring. A tour of duty overseas provides a unique perspective on everyday life. And tragic events become an opportunity for entire communities to come together to mourn, to comfort each other and to grow closer to each other, and to God.
And somehow, with that camo-enhanced perspective, Christmas begins to feel . . . you know . . . Christmassy once again.
Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
 A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men!
 Merry Christmas!

A Family Tradition
By Joseph J. Mazzella

It was mid-October when I first spotted them. They were nestled in next to the candy and Halloween costumes as I walked through the store. They were the first Christmas decorations of the year. It was the beginning of the 10 week period when the stores do all they can to get us to buy all we can. It was the great Christmas shopping rush and the bigger the gifts the better. I shook my head sadly and walked on, but then a wonderful memory came back into my mind.

It was late-December from several years earlier. I was shopping alone trying to pick up some thick Winter socks to warm my frozen feet. As I rounded the corner in the store I saw a Christmas tree full of paper angels. On each angel was the name of a needy child whose family couldn't afford to buy them a gift that year. Shoppers who picked an angel could buy a simple toy or gift and the store would wrap it and send it to the child that Christmas. Around the tree I saw a teenage boy and girl picking out several angels apiece. Their mother was smiling while she watched them. I walked up next to her and started talking with her. She told me that her children started this several years ago when she first explained to them what the Charity Angel tree was for. Each offered to give up one of their toys that year so that a needy child could have one. It didn't stop then, though. Each year since the kids had saved money they earned throughout the year and bought more and more children the gifts they wouldn't have otherwise.
It had become a family tradition. I smiled when she finished, walked over to the tree, and picked out a few angels too. I left the store feeling in touch with God, Christmas, and life once again.
May we always remember that life is about the love you share not the money you have. Life is about the people you help not the things you own. And may we also see that it is never too late to start a family tradition that makes the Father of us all smile.

The Flour of Love
By Joseph Walker
Bud wasn't expecting presents for Christmas that year. It was the height of the Great Depression, and he was living in a boarding house thousands of miles away from home. There wasn't money for gifts. Every dime was precious, and was needed for the family to survive.

But they WERE surviving - him in the east, and his parents and brothers out west - and that was gift enough during those trying times. He was just grateful for a day off from work, and he was looking forward to the sumptuous Christmas dinner Mrs. Rossi had promised to prepare.
Wonderfully savory smells drifted from Mrs. Rossi's kitchen as Bud showered and shaved and put on a clean white shirt and tie. Mrs. Rossi wasn't as good a cook as his mother was, but her culinary repertoire was significantly more exotic. She had introduced him to pasta - something his mother had never prepared - and wondrous varieties of Italian cuisine. He had a special fondness for her spaghetti and meatballs, but that wasn't the smell coming from the kitchen. It was similar, but different - and it smelled similarly good, in a different sort of way.
One thing Bud knew for sure was that fresh homemade bread would be involved in the meal. He could pick out THAT smell from a thousand miles away. Bud was something of an expert on the smell of bread baking. His father was a miller - his Star Mill was just a couple of hundred feet from the family's kitchen. And his mother took that good Star Mill flour and baked fresh bread for her six sons every day except Sunday. Just as his father could tell if something was amiss by the sound frequencies emanating from mill machinery, Bud had smelled enough baking bread that he could tell if a loaf was properly done by the aroma wafting from the oven.
And the bread Mrs. Rossi was baking was done. Perfectly.
As good as whatever it was that Mrs. Rossi was preparing as the main course of their boarding house Christmas dinner might be, Bud was most anxious to bite into a thick slice of that homemade bread, still hot out of the oven. As soon as all six of his fellow residents were seated and a blessing on the food had been properly pronounced, Bud extended his long arms in a classic boarding house reach for the plate of bread.
No, Bud, Mrs. Rossi said firmly. That bread isn't for you.
Bud looked at her, puzzled. She smiled broadly and produced a plate bearing a small, brown, rounded mound of . . . well, he wasn't exactly sure what it was. It appeared to be a bread-like substance. But it was too large to be a roll, and too small to be a loaf. And it was all crusty - not like a slice of any kind of bread he knew.
This is your bread, Mrs. Rossi said, beaming.
Bud eyed it suspiciously. It didn't look dangerous or anything - not like that calamari-thing Mrs. Rossi served around Halloween. This looked almost edible. Maybe if he put lots of strawberry jam on it he could get it out of the way so she'd let him have some REAL bread.
He picked it up and looked at it carefully. He sniffed it - it smelled wonderful, and familiar. He pulled off an end piece and took a bite. The flavor was unmistakable. A wave of sensory fulfillment washed over him as the taste transported him to his mother's table 3,000 miles away, flooding his mind with happy memories and indescribable feelings.
Where did you get this? Bud asked, dumbfounded.
From your mother, Mrs. Rossi confessed.
She sent you this bread? Bud asked again, confused. It feels warm. It tastes fresh.
The old woman shook her head. Your mother sent me the recipe and a small box of flour, she said. It wasn't enough to make a full loaf, and I didn't have any pans small enough for the amount of dough it made. So I did the best I could to shape it in the bread pans I had.
But when . . . how . . . Bud was overwhelmed with feeling and emotion.
Your mother wanted you to have a little taste of home for Christmas, Mrs. Rossi said as she gave Bud a quick hug around his shoulders. Merry Christmas from her!
Suddenly that unappealing little lump was the most beautiful loaf of bread he had ever seen. He couldn't bring himself to eat it. He carefully wrapped what was left in a napkin and tucked it into his pocket for safekeeping. As he reached for a helping of something Mrs. Rossi called lasagna, he couldn't help feeling this had been an uncommonly bounteous Christmas.
Enriched, as it was, with the flour of love.

The Christmas Weiner of 2011
By Ellie Braun-Haley
While we were at Disneyland, just after Christmas, we stopped one evening to buy a hot dog. Mine was heavy with relish and mustard and it tasted so good. We headed out of the section we were in and I was still eating the hot dog.
Suddenly I couldn't breathe. I tried to cough and there was the tiniest of sounds. I had stopped because I was feeling alarmed and fear was beginning to overtake me. I was grasping at my throat and trying to get air in or whatever was blocking , out.
My youngest daughter, Laurie noticing something was definitely wrong, spoke to me quietly, Do you need help mom? Can you breathe?
I shook my head in answer indicating I was indeed having difficulty.
Though I was frightened, it is strange how I noticed all the people walking along chatting and enjoying the evening. A Disneyland staff person had stopped near us as she had noticed my dilemma and I believe was waiting to see if she was needed.
Laurie drew behind me, and placed her arms around me and immediately began the Heimlich maneuver. It was barely seconds and I felt something release and I began to bring in gulps of air. I wanted to cry I was grateful to be able to breathe and intensely grateful for a loving daughter who knew exactly what to do when called on in an emergency.
We never know when we might be needed in a life and death situation and I am so grateful when I needed help that someone who was level headed, calm and knowledgeable was at my side. The words Thank you Laurie! surely don't seem to be enough!
It's great to be around to see another Christmas!

Christmas Memories
By Joseph J. Mazzella
Christmas is a time of great faith, hope, and love. As you get older it is also a time of cherishing wonderful memories. This happened to me as I was sitting quietly listening to Christmas carols today. I relaxed, closed my eyelids and felt my eyes tear up under them as I allowed the flood of childhood, Christmas memories to wash over me once again.
I remembered how we were a poor family by today's standards. We lived in my Grandma's old house that was a combination of two shanty cars and several other rooms that my Dad later built on. Yet, we were so rich in all the important things in life.
I remembered getting up on a bitingly cold, December morning and watching my Dad build a fire in the stove. I remembered pulling on my oversized winter coat that had been my older brother's and warming myself by the fire before heading outside with my Dad and brothers to chop down a Christmas tree. I remembered Dad letting me pick the scraggliest, ugliest looking tree over my brothers' objections and how the limbs could barely support the ornaments and lights when we decorated it. I remembered watching my grandmother, Nanny, slowly pulling her ancient Nativity scene out of a box and putting it under the tree with such reverence, gentleness, and tenderness. I remembered too the kiss she gave the baby Jesus before placing him in the manger.
I remembered listening to my Mom sing along with the Christmas carols on the radio while she cleaned the house. I also remembered the beautiful look of pure peace and happiness she would get on her face whenever she sang, Silent Night.
I remembered the note my Mom and Dad wrote for Santa and put on our front door, because I was worried that he would skip our empty house while we were at midnight Mass. I remembered as well trying to stay awake for the whole midnight service at our Church, but falling asleep on my Mom's lap instead.
I remembered the Italian-American Christmas dinner where freshly baked bread was served along with the turkey, Pasta Fasul was served along with the mashed potatoes, and you could get Provolone cheese as well as pumpkin pie.
I remembered the eager anticipation of waiting to open my presents on Christmas morning. They were few in number and never very expensive, but they always brought joy to my young boy's heart. I remembered playing with them too for months and sometimes years to come.
Most of all, though, I remembered the unwavering love in that house. It made every day feel like Christmas. It was there in our hugs and smiles, laugher and tears, arguments and agreements, triumphs and tragedies. Even when that house burned down, the love remained. It gave me a hint of the Love that God has for us all. With it we felt like the wealthiest family in the whole world.
Mom and Nanny have passed on to Heaven now, but the memories of their love at Christmastime and all through the year live on in my heart and mind. It is like what the great author Leo Buscaglia once wrote: Love never dies as long as there is someone who remembers.
May your life be full of loving memories at Christmastime and always. And may you create new ones every single day. Have a Merry Christmas.

Sir Froggie's Positive News Network: Friday, December 14th, 2012
Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Well, Friends. This is it. . . The last day of SFPNN's distribution for the year 2012. It sure has been a journey! Thank you for sharing it with us.
I hope you've come through 2012 feeling stronger, wiser, more prosperous, peaceful, joyful, healthy and loved. If not, know that I send you blessings from my heart with a prayer that 2013 is a better year for you and everyone else.
It can help to acknowledge that each year of life has its ups and downs. Some big, some small. Some may seem like nothing and some may seem insurmountable. I certainly don't have the answers as to how to get through it all, but I do know that every human being on this planet has a purpose, has a gift to offer the world; has some bit of insight, awareness and wisdom to share, has love and hope to give, and a reason for being here.
To say things don't always go as planned would be an understatement for most folks I've talked to recently (including myself)! Yet in our darkest, most bleak moments, a little spark of Light somehow manages to get through.
Even when we feel completely alone, depleted, and kersplatted, there is that part of our inner most Spirit which wants to rise up from the ashes into an incredible phoenix, spreading its wings wide and soaring on the currents of each new day. It's important to feed and nurture that part of ourselves. It may take a bit of clearing off the mud and gunk to find it, but rest assured it is in there...
Our eternal, invincible, Spirit is there beneath the disappointments, pain, fear, grief, and other things which may be blocking it from sight. It is that part of us we must access no matter what. Fear not during the times we can't find it, it will find us. And it will wrap its glorious wings around us, tap into the Spirit of our Creator, and help us rise up once again into the glorious Light of Spirit that God created us to be.
If you're already soaring, enjoy the day's current! Ride on it with gusto and gratitude! Know that your flight is inspiration and hope for others to follow. Enjoy the view. Share your perspective and what it took to soar to such wonderful heights. Give thanks for the gift of your incredible spirit and your strong wings.
My Friends, may you be blessed. And may Heaven's Helpers always be at your side to assist you in any and every way needed... including learning how to rise up from the ashes and fly.

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health and Prosperity,
Rev. Jeanette

Kindness Suggestion
YOUR JOB IS TO LOVE By Joseph J. Mazzella

My kitchen table was covered with papers. It was the end of the month and I was trying to get all of my paperwork done and taken to the office on time. I sat down in a chair, picked up my pen, and started writing on the first page. Just then a flash of motion caught my eye. I looked out my window and saw my neighbors' white beagle standing on my back porch. She had gotten free from her yard and was having fun running loose.
Knowing my neighbors were at work I looked at my paperwork, sighed, and put down the pen. I headed out the backdoor and whistled for the dog to come. She looked like she might come to me for a second, but then she caught a scent in the air and headed for the woods. I ran after her calling and whistling the whole time. As I followed her further and further into the woods, I grew frustrated. Come on!, I said to no one in particular. I have work to do!
Suddenly, I heard a soft, gentle voice that was not my own whisper in my mind. Your job is to love, it said. At that moment my heart was filled with a warmth and love that are beyond my words to describe. My eyes moistened and I smiled at the same time. I squatted down and called my neighbors' dog again. This time the beagle turned and ran happily into my arms. She licked my face over and over as I carried her the quarter mile back to her yard. Even though my arms were tired my heart was light. I was at peace doing my real job. The paperwork could wait.
God loves us all and His greatest joy is in seeing us love each other as well. To love is our job, our mission, and our purpose in this life. Do your job well then and have the time of your life while you do it. Love God. Love yourself. Love others. Love animals. Love this world. Love your life. Share your love in everything you think, feel, say and do. And rejoice in the peace and happiness it brings to you always.

Success Strategies by Michael Angier
9 SECRETS TO CREATING POSITIVE COMPLETIONS Written by Lynn Scheurell

As a purposeful entrepreneur, it's likely that you want to make the world a better place. And you also likely know that it all starts with you. Your business depends on your ability to transform energy into value which helps make the world a better place.
Now that sounds great, but what isn't said is that transformation is a continuous, never-ending process of completions in order to have new beginnings. Without completing things (or, in the metaphysical sense, the 'death' of things), the cycle of life can't begin (as a new birth, which can mean the next level of life as well as a brand new entity).
By putting the period at the end of the sentence, you move on to the next one; if there is no punctuation to signal the end of the sentence, the thoughts are 'run-on' and can get jumbled. If people never died, we'd be having conversations with Leonardo da Vinci, the planet would be overrun by people and it would all be very confusing. The same holds true for your business-it needs completions to function properly.
So, it's absolutely vital that you finish what's incomplete as of today in order to get to your next best level in business. Now is always the perfect time to create positive completions.
Here are nine secrets to creating positive completions and setting you and your business up to transform the world. (By the way, there are nine secrets here because, numerologically, nine is the number of completion-think about it!)
1. Finish old business or let it go. If you haven't gotten to something on your to do list for a long time, decide if it's really something you are supposed to get done. If yes, do it. If no, get it off your list. If you want to revisit the idea later, create a parking lot book for those project ideas. The goal is two-fold: free up the mindspace that those projects hold hostage and release the self-punishment for not getting them done. That's valuable energy you can use to create fresh results!
Quick tip: Make a list of what's outstanding and cross off anything that can wait 12 months to get done. From there, cross off what can wait for six months to get done . . . and then cross off what can wait for three months. Now you have your list of priorities that you want to get done in the next 60 days. Make a plan to handle each one of them-you might be surprised how quickly you will move through your focus list! (Then repeat again-some of what was on your original long-term list might not make it on to your current list again!)
2. Align with what feels right for you. If it doesn't make sense for you, it's not yours-even if that's what everybody else is doing (or maybe especially if that's the case!). Often that's what causes procrastination-you think you 'should' do it. Instead, use no one else's measurement in determining your goals nor your progress toward them and outsource what doesn't feel aligned with your natural skills and talents. When you're aligned with what's right for you, you have easy access to your internal power sources and THAT creates positive new beginnings in exponential ways.
3. Accept responsibility for what you have created so far. If you aren't the cause of your outcomes, you are the effect of them, which puts you in reaction to your life and makes you a victim on some level. To be a creator of beginnings AND completions, you must own what you've created, even if it's messy while in process. If you don't know what your responsibility was in creating a given situation, track back to the last place you 'owned' your result (example: the airline lost your luggage-you own that occurrence because you chose to travel in the first place and check your bag).
4. Don't judge yourself for what was or the decisions you made in the past. If you would have known better, you would have done better (and that goes for the rest of us, too!). Generally, you are your own worst critic and say things to yourself that you would never say out loud to another person. Show yourself the same kindness that you would show a stranger and watch the positive completions as they flow more easily and celebrate that you can see your progress from then until now.
5. Trust the bigger picture. You may not be able to see it, but there is always a greater context for every situation, relationship and opportunity. By knowing that there is a bigger picture, it is easier to release what you can't get to or don't want to handle because it will get handled one way or another. It may not be where you see it or how you would prefer, but when you let go in trust, there is new freedom for the bigger picture to gain new momentum.
6. Upgrade your energy sources. A Gulfstream 7 jet doesn't run on diesel fuel . . . an animal doesn't do well when drinking from a poisoned pond . . . and neither do your positive completions. Look around your world to see what is supporting you, and make sure it really IS supporting you! Maybe it has outlived its time, or you have different needs, or something has shifted-if this is the case, it's time for a replacement! Upgrade your sources of energy to fuel your positive completions.
7. Forget perfection. If you are attached to being perfect before something can happen, or that something else has to be perfect before you can benefit, or that there are negative consequences when something isn't perfect, that can severely limit your positive completions. Completing projects can be messy in the middle-it's hard to be perfect when you're renovating a house! Be in the flow of change, and know that the imperfect is, in all likelihood, pretty perfect.
8. Detach from the empty space. We become conditioned to filling up every spare space in our calendar, on our desks, in our lives, that empty space can actually feel destabilizing. When you are completing things, it will create empty space-get used to that. And know that your creativity will likely rush in to fill the empty space and you'll have new projects to begin. The key is in having detachment to the empty space-it doesn't mean you are less than, boring, not busy enough if you have some empty spaces waiting for your next flash of insightful creation.
9. Start with your environment. What's 'out there' is 'in here'-your environment is your mirror. Pick an area on your desk or in your office to clear out and start doing what it takes to get completions done. You can use a checklist, a giant post-it on the wall, your Outlook calendar or something else to track what needs doing and then mark what's done for a sense of satisfaction. You can even time yourself-do it in 27 minute time 'chunks' so it stays dynamic for you (Why 27? Because 2 + 7 = 9 and, say it with me, nine is the number of completion).
Through your positive completion process, you are being of the highest service in making the world a better place because you're giving your business the gift of new beginnings. It's about time.
Discover Your Life Purpose. When you unlock your deepest purpose and know why you are here, nothing can stop you from pursuing and living it. Obstacles seem to melt, criticism is irrelevant and you are compelled to move toward living your purpose. Your life purpose cannot be held back-it's why you are here and gives meaning and value to what you do. When you know why you're here, your life becomes focused and everything gains new clarity. Sir Froggie's Positive News Network: Thursday, December 13th, 2012
Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Can you recall any magical memories of this time of the year?
A good friend of mine just e-mailed to share about the adventures of her 3 year old grandson out in the Minnesota snow... making snow people, sledding down the driveway in a plastic disk as well as his toy truck, making tracks in the snow and more. I could feel the magic of the moment in her words. It was a welcome break from the heavier work I'd been doing earlier in the day. It also gave me the gift of reminiscing some of my own magical moments in the snow! (Ironically as I'm typing this Bing Crosby just started to sing about the First Snowfall of the Winter.)
Earlier I heard Bing singing about the Gift of the Littlest Angel and it transported me back to a time sitting on my Mom's lap with my younger sister as we listened, enthralled, to her reading the children's book of the same name. Those were such happy memories and invoked a sense of being loved, cherished, and safe; not to mention a feeling of connection to my Mom who made her soul graduation about a year and a half ago.
This time of year our kitties get very playful with the ornaments hung on the bottom of the tree... They have a few favorites including the jingle ball with a picture of a horse and sleigh. There's also a pink checkered round ornament that had first been my Mom's, then mine, then a favorite of our first kitty who passed away in 2001, and now it's a favorite of the three kitties who grace our lives today. Oh, I can't forget their all-time favorite ornaments... the peacocks! They started out being covered in blue cloth with several peacock feathers for their tail... Now they have been chewed down to gray plastic and a few straggly feathers remain. (We picked those out special for the cats to play with!) As we watch their playful antics, we know we are watching memories in the making by the warm and joyful feelings it brings.
Often what makes holidays special isn't just the holiday itself, but the culminations of memories past being merged with new memories being made. There's a sense of connection, continuity and reverence that runs through it. Of course the sacredness of the holy days helps as well, but even there the traditions getting passed on from generation to generation (and even new ones being made) are a big part of what makes it special.
I hope you'll take some time to cherish a few magical memories today - as well as make a few new ones. Life is precious. Sometimes it's stressful, hectic as all get-out, and can drive us insane. But even amidst the craziness, special moments can be found, enjoyed, and help to bring us back to the sacredness of Life.
Wishing you precious moments today and always...
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health and Prosperity,
Rev. Jeanette

Value Speak - by Joseph B. Walker
CHRISTMAS MUSIC CURMUDGEON

I've just got to get this off my chest: My Favorite Things is NOT a Christmas song.
It's a great song from a great musical, The Sound of Music. But it's not a Christmas song. It's not like We Need a Little Christmas, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, White Christmas or Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Those are all songs from musicals, but they are also great Christmas songs. My Favorite Things is not. Sure, it mentions mittens, sleigh bells, snowflakes and silver white winters. It also mentions schnitzel with noodles, but I don't hear any polka bands playing My Favorite Things during Oktoberfest.
OK. Deep breath.
There. I feel better.
I don't know why I get so worked up about this every year, but I do. While others agonize over the commercialization of Christmas, the intrusion of the Christmas shopping season on Thanksgiving and Halloween, and whether or not there should be Nativity displays in front of public buildings, I'm getting ready to do something naughty - not nice - every time I hear Barbra Streisand singing, Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens ...
Just ask my kids how many times they've heard my this is not a Christmas song lecture when we've been driving in the car and one of our all Christmas all the time radio stations starts playing the tune. This year my youngest daughter, Beth, started into the lecture herself while I was driving with her and her three-week old son, William. I can only assume she wants to make sure William understands the official family position on the matter before he cuts his first tooth - or before the powerful Rodgers and Hammerstein lobby can get to him.
I guess I'm sort of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas music. I tend not to like new songs by pop artists - and by new I mean post-Nixon Administration. I can't change the station fast enough when I hear the opening chords of Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime. And lest you think I have it in for that particular Beatle, I feel the same way about John Lennon's Happy Xmas (War is Over), which isn't a Christmas song as much as it is a political statement. And who wants to go political statement caroling?
I also prefer originals to covers. Although it is reported that there have been more than 500 different recorded versions of White Christmas - including pretty much everyone from Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga - nobody does it like Bing Crosby. Same thing for The Christmas Song - even Mel Torme, The Velvet Fog himself who co-wrote the song in 1944 with Bob Wells, doesn't sing it as well as Nat King Cole.
So I admit to being pretty narrow-minded when it comes to Christmas music. Every once in a while I hear a new song (Kristin Chenoweth's Christmas Island) or a new arrangement (Josh Groban's Little Drummer Boy) that I embrace with every inch of my curmudgeonly heart. But for the most part, I'm the Grinch of Christmas music innovation - in fact, it hurts my fingers to type Christmas music and innovation in the same sentence.
Thankfully, my yuletide intolerance isn't prevalent. My guess is that while most people cherish the Christmas music standards, they are more open than I am to new artists adding new music to the Christmas repertoire, and they actually enjoy hearing new takes on traditional songs. Otherwise there would be no Mannheim Steamroller, no Faith Hill singing Where Are You Christmas? no version of White Christmas featuring Michael Bublé and Shania Twain.
That's sort of the way it is with traditions, Christmas or otherwise. While there are always those who cling stubbornly to the past with an unrelenting grip that strangles anything that doesn't conform to their practice and habit, there are also those who honor the past by opening their hearts and minds to contemporary new possibilities that refresh, revitalize and enhance convention, and make traditions more relevant for the future.
And that, I think, is a good thing - if not one of My Favorite Things.

Howdy Folks and Good Day!

I had an almost surreal experience the other day. The desk from which I work on SFPNN faces a parking lot with a few rows of car ports, behind which is another building and then some hills and mountains. For nearly six years I have been blessed by several trees which were planted in between the carports. They offered a sense of privacy, acted as a sound barrier, and were the home and resting place to several species of birds, in addition to being a favorite pollination stop for honey bees. The leaves of the trees often accompanied me with a soft lullaby when I took a break outside to play my flute; and they always gave a clue as to where in the sky the sun was located by the way it shone upon them and the shadows they cast.
But alas! A few of the trees' roots had been causing property damage and the management company, in order to prevent further damage, decided to remove all the trees from between the car ports. I watched as three-, four-, and five-story tall eucalyptus, Russian olive, and birch trees were cut down and removed in less than five to ten minutes each! It was quite an operation involving everything from a simple chainsaw to a rather complex crane apparatus. The crews knew their stuff and were extremely proficient.
I couldn't help but think of all the life those trees had supported in their 20-30 years here. And in moments, they were gone. It reminded me of all the people I've cherished in my life time who have passed on... either in the heavenly realms or simply to live a new life. It made me both smile and a little misty eyed. While they leave behind memories, lessons, and other things to be grateful for, life will never be the same without them. Like the space left by the removal of trees, their absence leaves an opening, an opening which, perhaps, can allow in more Light, and maybe a more open view of the world. And it certainly makes me appreciate all that they meant in my life!
Others may pass by that empty space and never know who it was occupied by or what they meant. But those whose lives were touched, shall always have an appreciation for who and what was once there. By now, all of us have heard of the importance of gratitude and appreciating what we have. Yet sometimes the greatest appreciation seems to come after it's gone and there's an open space left unfilled. There's no one and no thing that can fill the space of another in the exact same way. Whether person or tree or anything else... All living beings are a unique expression of the Divine.
Here's to our uniqueness. . . and to all those who have been in our lives and moved on, as well as those precious beings who are in our lives now. May we cherish the moments we have together, and may they be filled with love, gratitude and light along with the recognition that we are blessed by their presence
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health and Prosperity,
Rev. Jeanette

Moments of Joy
LIKE A STAR

This is another example of my dedication to actually creating a song or songs (I think different ideas relate to different people; we don't all get lit by the same fire) that actually evokes the Holy Instant -- that moment out of time when all possibility opens up to you, when you go beyond what you have always accepted as your limits, before. Right now, you know it's a whole new time, an empty slate, a brand new opportunity of infinite possibility. There are no limits but the ones you make to what you can accomplish in this state of possibility. And it's only to the degree that you are in this state that God can use you to your fullest potential. If you believe you can just go this far, He won't ask you to go any further. He allows you total freedom as to what extent you will allow Him to take hold of your life and direct it where He wants it to go and where you, if you believed it were possible, would surely want to be.
Like a Star
Let who you are as a light beam
Shine so bright that others accept you
Just the way you are.
Be a perfect example of who you are;
Let everyone you deal with
Think you are a star,
Shining the light that God has given you,
Doing what you know you agreed to do,
Being the one that He can use exactly where you are,
And allow yourself to shine like a star

Here's to our uniqueness. . . and to all those who have been in our lives and moved on, as well as those precious beings who are in our lives now. May we cherish the moments we have together, and may they be filled with love, gratitude and light along with the recognition that we are blessed by their presence
Speaking of rewards, there's still time to hang up your stockings! At the very least, I am sure St. Nick will fill them with Divine Love for you and yours. It might not look like there's anything in there at first but if you close your eyes, and hold the stocking up to your heart, I'm sure you will feel it filled to overflowing!

Be a perfect example of who you are;
Let everyone you deal with
Think you are a star,
Shining the light that God has given you,
Doing what you know you agreed to do,
Being the one that He can use exactly where you are,
And allow yourself to shine like a star

SIENA, ITALY
Siena is a beautiful city in Tuscany, surrounded by orchards, olive groves and vineyards. One of the most beautiful attractions here is the cathedral, or Duomo. I love to explore old churches and this one was definitely one of the top ten.

Sir Froggie's Positive News Network: Tuesday, December 11th, 2012
Howdy Folks and Good Day!

A quick reminder that this will be SFPNN's last week of distribution for the year 2012!
The holiday season is upon us and whether you celebrate Hanukah, Christmas, the Yule, Kwanza or anything else, it is a season of miracles, love, peace on earth and rebirth.
By nature I'm an optimist, but sometimes all the love, peace, miracles and rebirth we experience aren't necessarily joyful in their circumstances. In fact the process it takes to get to those experiences can be downright painful. Or at the very least stressful! There's usually some spiritual growth and life lesson involved, and hopefully they lead to a bit of enlightenment. Still, I can't help thinking there should be a warning label on some of them!
Living a positive life isn't always easy. It takes a lot of work, sometimes really hard work - both inside and out. It requires a lot of love - of self, God and others. It often necessitates things like forgiveness - of those who hurt us, ourselves, our Higher Power and even life's circumstances. Faith, hope, and daring to see beyond difficult situations (even when they seem impossible to overcome) are all part of the package. And it requires picking ourselves up again and again... And again... And again... And, well... you get the picture. All of which can really test us and our outlook on life.
Sometimes, in fact more times than not, we need a hand to hold as we make our way through the dark valleys of life to get to that point of experiencing miracles, love, peace, and rebirth. Hopefully we will have the hand of someone close to our heart to hold, be it a family member, significant other, friend, spiritual community, or even a therapist or counselor. In addition, it helps to know God is holding our hand too. (Even if there are days when we can't necessarily feel it. He's got a Light touch you know!)
It would be nice if the miracles, love, peace, and rebirth were the prize at the end of the journey, that once we experienced the challenges of reaching them, we'd be set. The truth is they are just another part of the Journey itself. But when we can move forward in these experiences, when we can open ourselves to their beauty, joy, and grace beyond the pain and challenges it took to reach them, Life takes on a more awe-inspiring presence. Something inside of us shifts. We see through renewed eyes and our heart opens wider. It's a good thing.
My Friends, may your journey take you to the experiences of miracles, peace, love and rebirth in a kind and gentle way. May you know you are held up in the hand of God, so that when you do fall, you can receive help getting up again. And may you be blessed with everything you need for the duration.
With Love, Happiness, Health Prosperity, and Peace,
Rev. Jeanette

Wayfarer's Tales ~ by David McLaughlan

THE PAIN SEAT

What's the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you? Luckily, I am spoiled for choice, but a little something that happened last night is surely a contender for the top spot.
The evening was so nippy I could see my breath on the air. I was popping in to see an elderly neighbour who hadn't been keeping so well. Pain at the base of his spine had kept the him from being as active as he usually was, so I wanted to see if there were any errands I could run or anything I could help with.
He looked in a bad way, but insisted he was starting to feel better.
He invited me in and sat on the couch as he directed me towards the only armchair. The chair was draped in a woolen blanket through which I quickly felt the warmth of a hot water bottle at the base of my spine!
That chair was the old fellow's pain relief - and he had given it to me!
I left him my phone number and promised I would pop in from time to time. But he had already given me more than I could give him.
Big acts of charity might make headlines, but I think it's the little, un-mentioned, kindnesses like this one that really make the angels smile!

Soul Magic

SPILLED BEER

It was the first semester of my Freshman year in college. I was sitting in a bar drinking beer, smoking a cigarette, and trying to look cool. I had just gotten my first set of grades and they were a lot worse than I thought they would be. Too many beer nights had seen to that. I felt lonely, sad, and empty inside. I wondered where my life was going. I thought a few more beers would make me feel better, but all they did was make my head spin and my hands feel numb.
The rock music blared from the jukebox. I shook my head and reached down to take another drink from my draft. My numb fingers, however, were no longer working well. The glass slipped from them and beer spilled on the table and my pants. Red-faced, I got up and quickly walked out of the bar followed by the noise of drunken laughter. On my way back to my dorm room I could only think of how stupid I felt. I began to realize too that even a billion beers wouldn't fill the hole I felt inside my heart. I knew I had to take another path.
I stopped drinking and smoking soon after that night, improved my grades, and graduated college. I started looking too for the path that might lead me to true happiness. It took me years but I finally did find the Love, Grace, and Oneness with God that sent the loneliness, emptiness, and sadness away for good. It had been patiently waiting for me all along. All I had to do was invite it into my heart, soul, and life.
No amount of alcohol can ever drown your pain, loneliness, and despair. They all know how to swim. The only way to get rid of them is to daily replace them with something stronger: God's love for you and the love that burns within your own soul. Do so and make your heart beat with happiness. Do so and make your life a gift of joy to the world.

Sir Froggie's Positive News Network: Monday, December 10th, 2012
Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Today begins the last week of SFPNN's distribution for the year 2012! We hope you've enjoyed the fall season right along with us and that you find yourself filled to overflowing with all of life's blessings.
Should you be in need of anything at all, remember that God is the Source of all there is and don't hesitate to make that prayer on your behalf, giving thanks in advance that it is given unto you.
In this season of miracles we have many examples of the extraordinary gifts of Spirit, along with gifts of humankind. It's the perfect time to renew our hopes, our dreams, our faith in ourselves and one another. It's also the time we need most to be kind to ourselves and all those we encounter. All this merry-making can get stressful so let's be compassionate, loving and patient all around!
My Friends, take care of YOU. You are the best gift you can give anyone. There is no other YOU on this planet. And whether your realize it or not, your being here really does make a difference in the world. YOU matter. We need YOU. So be good to yourself, build up your immune system, let yourself enjoy the magic of the moment, get plenty of sleep and try to eat as healthy as you can. YOU deserve to be treated well and you're the first in line to do that for yourself.
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health and Prosperity,
Rev. Jeanette

Miracles with Moira
AN EXERCISE FOR GRATITUDE
Try this at home for Gratitude to create more abundance today
* Click here to listen to me walk you through this exercise *

A highly effective prayer structure that taps into the power of Gratitude goes something like this:
I am so happy and grateful now that I have ... (a radiantly healthy body, a loving and supportive romantic partner, a steady and dependable income of $10,000 a month or more). It's even better than I imagined! Thank you!
Feel the way you would feel if this prayer were answered.
What if you don't know how to do that?
Picture yourself enjoying the results of your successfully answered prayer. See yourself with the splendid healthy body, with the fabulous romantic partner, or whatever. Put yourself in the picture. Give the picture movement, color and emotion, like a movie in your mind.
Swim in the feelings for as long as you can.
Do this for 17 seconds every day and watch what happens!
Good job! Well done! Thank you!
With love and appreciation,

Sir Froggie's Pondering
GIVE THE GIFTS OF THE HEART

Have you ever stressed and fretted over providing the perfect gift? Do you know what the perfect gift is? Do you know it's actually within any budget?
Give the gifts of the heart.
The holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other important days which require gifts can have us going crazy trying to find the perfect thing. We forget that we ourselves just might be what we're looking for. And we don't have to limit ourselves to giving on just those special occasions.
We have gifts of the heart we can offer year round. What gifts are those?
Let's start with COMPANIONSHIP. There are so many people in this world who really need a good friend. Someone to listen to their stories, validate their lives, share their ups and downs. Whether it's a family member, coworker, friend, or even a stranger in a hospital, nursing home, or hospice, there is no shortage of people in need of companionship... quite possibly our companionship.
Then there's COMPASSION. Everyone has something they're struggling with... even during the good times. None of us is without challenges of some type. It doesn't matter if the challenge is physical, psychological, emotional, financial, or in any other area of life. We can all use a little compassion to help us deal with the stuff life throws at us.
UNDERSTANDING is another great gift we can give year round. Human nature is often to judge, especially those who are different, but understanding will go a lot further in building good relationships and good people! I don't know many folks who want to be judged, but I sure know an awful lot who wish they could just be understood!
EMPATHY is a lovely gift to give one another. Empathy goes beyond understanding to actually feeling for another living being. It's being able to relate in a way as if we had gone through it ourselves. This doesn't mean we take on other people's pain, but we are able to understand it on a much deeper level and therefore offer a lot more love and compassion and a lot less judgment.
PATIENCE is a wonderful gift of the heart. In today's high speed society, patience is often a lost art form. Yet a little patience can go a very long way in smoothing over the rough edges, allowing others to get to where they need to be, and actually giving and receiving what we intended to. Patience allows us some breathing room and can be a healing balm to the soul whether we are on the giving or receiving end of it!
KINDNESS is a terrific gift to give at any time. It can be given to anyone and expressed in myriad ways. Kindness restores our faith in humanity and in the divine.
ACCEPTANCE is one of the greatest gifts of the heart. Who doesn't want to be accepted just as they are? Who doesn't want to be accepted as they change and grow and evolve into a better person? Accepting ourselves and one another releases a whole lot of pressure, eliminates judgment, and gives us all permission to be the individual God intended us to be, as well as permission to find out exactly who that is.
ENCOURAGEMENT is a gift that often gives back. When we encourage others it helps them to succeed and their success surely will make us happy for them. There's no shortage of criticism in the world, but encouragement is something of much greater value. It's what helps dreams come true. Encouragement can be the difference between someone's mere idea and that idea transforming into reality. So go ahead, give the gift of encouragement!
SUPPORT is another extremely valuable gift of the heart. There are times in life when we soar, and there are times when we struggle to get our feet off the ground; there are even times when we absolutely crash. Receiving support during all of these times can help us keep going in whatever direction we need to - including taking time to regroup and re-evaluate. Support is a gift of the heart worth more than gold to the one receiving it.
Then there's GRATITUDE. Sharing our gratitude for one another raises our frequency and theirs. It lifts us higher, fills us up, and validates our efforts and who we are. Gratitude is the kind of gift in which the more we give of it, the better we feel. It has no limit. So keep giving.
LOVE is perhaps the greatest gift of all. Love is precious. It is the very essence of our being. It's the stuff God made us from. When we openly love one another we allow the God energy to flow full on. Love heals hearts, soothes troubled minds, and literally works miracles. We could fret about the various types of love but there's no need to. . . the important part is to openly give and receive love. There is no greater gift of the heart.
No matter what the occasion, remember to give the gifts of the heart.

Sir Froggie's Positive News Network: Friday, December 07th, 2012
Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Is there anything in your life you are struggling with or stressing over? Is there something that's got you feeling anxious, or something which leaves you worried about the outcome? I invite you to join me in a little creative visualization for angelic intervention.
Take a deep breath in... And then force it out. Shake out the tension out of your arms, elbows, wrists and hands like you're flinging water on the ground.
Not put both feet flat on the floor.
Breathe in again, this time slowly filling your whole body with your breath...
Slowly exhale, fully, completely, feeling your body begin to relax...
Breathe in once again... and then release it, relaxing even more...
That's it... just relax...
Now, in your mind's eye, visualize whatever you would like help with. Get a good clear picture of the situation; you can even use something to symbolize it if that's easier. Picture what you'd like help with in the middle of a big circle with a bright light shining down on it. See it as clearly as you can. As you do so, remember to breathe in... and out...
If you know the outcome you desire and believe it to be in the highest good, allow that thought to ruminate gently in your mind as you continue to visualize the situation. If you don't know what the best outcome is, that's OK. Just keep focusing on what you'd like help with.
Notice that what you need help with is being surrounded by angels on every side... Angels have encircled it completely. You can still see it slightly through the angelic beings until they begin to move counterclockwise around the circle. The angels move faster and faster until they are just a blur of light, and you can no longer see what it is you were focusing on.
As the angels continue to circle, you feel something shifting... there's a feeling of transformation, lightness, and resolve. Any worry, sense of struggle, stress, strife, anxiety or pain begins to dissipate until it is completely gone... Suddenly the whir of angels changes direction and begins to spin clockwise, again so fast it's just a blur... Suddenly there is a flash of light and the angels depart in every direction!
Looking into the middle of the circle, in the beam of light, you see the situation you asked for help with completely resolved! Pay attention to what it looks like, sounds like, feels like, and any thoughts, information or messages you receive.
Note that it is not necessary to know HOW the situation was resolved by the angelic help, just that it is. Breathe a sigh of relief and bask in the gratitude for the situation being worked out...
Now bring your mind back to the present moment. Shake out your hands and wrists again, and continue to breathe deeply, knowing all is well.
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health and Prosperity,
Rev. Jeanette

Kindness Suggestion
DON'T MINIMIZE OTHERS' PAIN OR STRUGGLES

While the world can be a wonderful, glorious place of love, light and healing, there are still a whole lot of people who are in pain of some type and really struggling to get through the day. We may not be able to see or feel their pain. We might not even be able to detect evidence of it. Which is why there can be a tendency in our society when people say they are in pain, to minimize it and perhaps believe the person is either faking it, exaggerating, or using the pain to get their way.
It's also hard to understand how much people's pain affects every aspect of their lives unless we've been through it ourselves; even then, every person's experience is different. It doesn't matter if the pain is physical, emotional, psychological, financial, familial, spiritual, energetic or any other kind of pain we could imagine. The truth is it all hurts.
Pain can be extremely draining, debilitating one's moods, clarity, confidence and ability to function on every level. Often when a person has pain or struggles of one type, there will be others as well. Many people who are in pain get very down on themselves for not being able to function in a way they'd like to; they don't need anyone else's judgment on top of their own. They may get cranky, they may not respond the way others want them to, they may not seem very enthusiastic. That doesn't mean they need any less love, compassion or understanding; in fact, they need more. And usually a lot of patience to boot.
While we're giving those in pain some leeway, along with love, compassion, and understanding, we may benefit them (and ourselves) by seeing them in their healed state of being. This doesn't mean we ignore the pain they are in now; it means in our heart and mind we see them healing to the greatest level possible and we have absolute faith that they will do so. This is an amazing gift to give someone who is struggling with pain. Because pain is one of those things which tends to go on and on, many people who live with it give up hope on ever healing. Yet someone else's faith, belief in their whole and healed self, along with prayers can be just the catalyst to bring the healing about... including real life miracles.
The next time someone tells you they're hurting, struggling or in pain, please be careful not to minimize it. Offer them your love, compassion and understanding. Let them know you're there to help if you feel guided to do so. And then please pray for their wellbeing. We all go through our own struggles and pain in life; if we all practice caring about and praying for each other, there could be a whole lot of healing going on!

A Bit of Humor
A TRAINER'S ADVICE
An old guy (definitely not in the best of shape) was working out in the gym when he spotted a sweet young thing... He asked the trainer who was nearby What machine in here should I use to impress that sweet thing over there?
The trainer looked him up and down, looked over all the equipment in the gym, and then at the young woman. He then thoughtfully replied, I would try the ATM in the lobby...

Success Strategies by Michael Angier
DO YOU HAVE A KNOWLEDGEBASE FOR SUCCESS?
Are You a Successful Thinker? Are You Sure?

How do you keep track of important information? Do you know where everything is? Can you access the information you need easily and quickly? Is everything more or less in one place?
Years ago I started keeping a Book of Lists. It was a list of lists, if you will. The main list was in one place, but the individual lists were scattered about.
That's all changed now. I have the most organized, accessible and useful personal knowledgebase ever. It's a vast and growing universe of knowledge that allows me to manage several businesses, investments, a few special interests and my personal life.
But before I tell you about that, let me share with you a few of my lists. It should help you create and organize your own personal knowledgebase. And in doing so, sharpen your focus, clarify your priorities and concentrate your efforts more consistently (the 3Cs from The Achievement Code).

Books to Read
Decisions to Make
My Dream List
My Core Values
Goals to Achieve
Gratefuls
Habits to Acquire, Habits to Change
My Happy List
Income Streams
Investments
Key People
People to Meet
Places to Go
Problems to Solve
Projects
Questions
Top Movies
Tolerations
Win List
There are many more, but you get the idea. I use them to help me brainstorm, journal and plan. And these lists are only part of my personal knowledgebase.
You may look at them and think it's a bit overwhelming and unwieldy. But I don't find them so. In fact, since I started using OneNote, they've become even easier to manage and access.
OneNote, which now comes free with Office 2010, is what Shane Fielder calls Microsoft's Best-Kept Secret. And he's developed a training that is guaranteed to help you get twice as much done with less effort.
I can personally attest to that. I have never felt more in control of my life with my vast and rapidly growing knowledgebase. I'm more organized, better prepared, less overwhelmed and able to get things done much more efficiently.
There's even a free app for my iPhone (also available for Android) that gives me access to all this information through my phone.
Almost every single bit of information I need is available to me anywhere. And that's worth a LOT.
If you'd like to find out more about the very complete training Shane has put together (The Ultimate Information Manager),
I invite you to do so on this page . . .
The sense of freedom and power I have because of this system is something I want you to experience as well.
OneNote is the one program I never want to be without. Think of it as a library of information with unlimited notebooks, unlimited sections and unlimited pages. Begin building your personal knowledgebase of success today. And stop looking through dozens of different apps and locations.
I'm not sure we'll ever get to a paperless existence, but this system can get you closer than anything else available. See what I mean here . . .

Pray For Me
By Joan Wester Anderson
When Carolyn Shafer moved to Tempe, Arizona, as a young mother, she had never heard of intercessory prayer, praying specifically for another person's needs. But she wanted the companionship of other women, so she joined a Bible study group at a nearby Methodist church. We were all pretty uninformed about God and spiritual faith, she says. "We had no idea how powerful prayer could be.

One night, Carolyn was startled into wakefulness. I had a strong conviction that something bad was happening to Jackie, one of the women in our group, Carolyn recalls. I knew her only slightly, but someone had mentioned that she had bronchitis. Was that the problem? And what should Carolyn do about it? Phone Jackie? It was late. Surely the woman had a family to rely on. And wouldn't it be embarrassing to awaken Jackie, and discover that this strange feeling was only Carolyn's imagination?

Carolyn plumped her pillows. She would forget it, and go back to sleep. But the unease persisted. Because I didn't know what else to do, I finally began to pray for Jackie, she says. Again and again I implored God to protect her from whatever was wrong. Gradually, the urgency disappeared, and Carolyn finally fell asleep.

The following morning, Carolyn was still puzzled about the episode. Jackie would probably think she was odd, but she needed to check it out. Good morning, she smiled, as Jackie answered the doorbell. I just came by to ask.. well, did anything happen to you last night?

Last night?

Yes. Were you in trouble, or sick?

Jackie looked astonished. How did you know? My bronchitis flared up. It was the worst attack I've ever had. I was gasping for air and trying to wake my husband to take me to the hospital. But all of a sudden, everything calmed down.

The women looked at each other. I was praying for you, Carolyn admitted. I think God woke me and told me to do it. Would Jackie laugh at her? But, no. Jackie's eyes were filling with tears. Would God do that for me? she asked.

She had been wrestling with a quiet fear that God didn't really care about her, Carolyn learned. But this tender gesture, brought to her from someone she barely knew... Well, Jackie said, it was all the reassurance she needed.

'We went on to become the dearest of friends, Carolyn says today. God can use anyone to touch another, if we're willing. All it takes is a little courage.
