I hope you've had a great summer thus far! As of June 2nd I have been a part of Kid Rock's band, the Twisted Brown Truckers. It has been quite the whirlwind. I basically flew out to meet everyone in Detroit and didn't come home. My first shows with them were for Spike TV and the CMT Awards in Nashville. Since then we did a tour with Bon Jovi that started in London and brought us through Canada and just a few US dates and also played at the Isle Of Malta MTV Music Festival in the Mediterranean. This was not a move I could have seen coming in my professional career but I am very happy about the change. It has allowed me to take a great breather from the crazy amount of work that goes with being an independent solo artist. As much as I love doing all of that after 14 years it was just time for me to take a break. I've really enjoyed playing with Kid and our shows change every night which makes it a lot of fun. Another thing that made this gig so easy to fall into is my old guitar player and main co-writer Marlon Young. He has been Kid Rock's guitarist and main co-writer for the last few years. It was a sweet homecoming of sorts. I also used Kid's bass player and keyboard player on my Fast Lane Addiction album. Last Shannon Curfman Band Show This Weekend in Savage, MN! As for my solo career... as of now we will only be doing a few shows here and there but we only have one gig on the books for the foreseeable future. It is a fundraiser for a man that was in a near-fatal accident last year in Minnesota. The benefit is this Saturday, October 2nd in Savage, MN at Neisen's Sports Bar and Grill. Hey guys! We have two great shows this weekend. This Friday we are playing at Shaw's in N.E. Minneapolis and as a lot of you know it is one of my favorite places to play. They have one of the best heart attack inducing burgers in town and the coldest tap beer I've ever had! Every year Mr. Shaw puts on a multiple day festival in honor of the heroes of 9/11. This Friday (probably tonight by the time you get this!) he has Lisa Wenger playing from 4pm-7pm and myself from 7:30-10pm in a tent in the parking lot of the bar and to close out the night Maxx Cabello from San Francisco will be playing in the bar from 10pm-close. We will be playing to one-hour sets. If you get your tickets in advance they are $8 and at the door they are $12 and I promise worth every cent! Oh, and we will be playing many songs off of the new album as well. We are also doing our first show in the Sioux Falls area in a very long time so if you know anyone in that area please tell them to come out and support some live music this Saturday at our show! Also, this Halloween we are doing a show with Tinsley Ellis at Famous Dave's. We will be playing a 90 minute set. As for the new album we have two weeks of mixing and tying up a couple loose ends starting this Monday and then it will be mastered and released. I will have it released on my website (www.shannoncurfman.com) and at my shows a couple months before it is in music stores (Best Buy, Down In The Valley, etc). I believe the release month for stores is January. Anyway, we will have some great deals going on in our on-line store once it comes out but I will be sure to let you know. Well, I really hope you guys have had a wonderful summer. This is the first summer I have taken it easy and really enjoyed so much of what Minnesota summers have to offer! I feel so lucky to live in such a great, friendly and lively state but I am even more excited for my favorite season to come - fall!
