Hello New York City,

What a crazy week! We had two earthquakes, a tropical storm, a hurricane, and a few tornado's all on the east coast within a few days of each other.  I hope you all survived with minimal damage and instead got to enjoy your New York "freebie" day, with no work to do due to everything being shut down.  Have no fear if your itching to get back into the groove as we have one last official summer weekend and SHAW has some great events to help you make the most of it, including a very awesome addition of "SHAW me the tickets!".

First I'd like to jump things off with a very cool grand opening party this Thursday, for my good friend Dan over at Rickard Guy, a custom, handmade shoe and repair company.   I met Dan last year when he first moved to NYC and I've never seen someone accomplish so much in such a short amount of time in NYC.  There will be music, art, complimentary drinks, and a raffle to win a pair of your own custom, handmade Rickard Guy moccasins!  A few words from Dan: "We will heel you, we will dye for you, we will save your sole...." Next I'd like to talk about one of SHAW's longest standing parties, TRASH!, at Webster Hall.  This week they have the very beautiful and talented Roxy Cottontail on the 1's and 2's who also happens to be a good friend of mine.  Here's what DJ Jess  has to say about his special night:

This weekend we also have another really fun event that we are particularly excited about, Quicksilver presents "

The Tony Hawk Vert Jam".  Skateboarding was one of the first things that really helped me out when I first moved from Taiwan to New York, and we here at SHAW always love working with events like this. You can imagine the excitment in the SHAW office when we received an email from "tonyhawk.com". Skateboarding legends Tony Hawk and Kevin Staab will be giving a FREE live half pipe demo on the Hudson River Park open to the public, followed by a day of skating at the Long Beach skate park.  This is going to be massive, so get there early!

Lastly we have my favorite portion of the newsletter, "SHAW me the tickets" ticket giveaway!  This week we are giving away the very sought after Labor Day weekend extravaganza,  Electric Zoo 2011 !!! This is our second year working with them and we couldn't be more excited to be able to give away TWO pairs of tickets to our beloved readers.  The line up this year includes MSTRKRFT, Skillrex, Chromeo, Crookers, and Big Gigantic (who killed it this year at the SHAW Promotion sponsored Big Up festival).  If you want to win a pair of these in demand tickets for the 3 day Electric Zoo festival this weekend at Randalls Island, please email JaiDee@shawpromotion.com and as per usual, she will pick a winner totally at random (unless you bribe her or make your entry the most interesting).  Please make sure you can go all three days before you enter, as we'd hate to give the tickets to someone who can't make the most of it.
