Hi

It's the next Counterpoint Not-Working meeting this Wednesday and I thought you might like to come along!

If you've not been before then just to let you know, it's a very informal event. It's held at the Red Lion in Hythe from 6-9pm on Wed 16 Nov, £5 on the door. We don't do any of the formal 40/60 seconds bit but you do get to speak to everyone in the room whether about business or anything else that comes into the conversation!

We'd love to see you there.

I really must try harder to give you more notice! These reminders worked so much better when someone else was doing them. Normal service will be resumed soon!

Our October Counterpoint Not-Working meeting is tonight - Wed 12 Oct from 6-9pm at the Red Lion in Hythe.

Very sociable networking, buffet and cash bar - £5 on the door for non-members; complimentary for members!

If you were listening to the Business Bunker yesterday I got it completely wrong and said it was next week! I think Doddsy and I may have to pay a trip to the pub next week in case of any stragglers (not planned honest!).

See you soon

Jo

Hi

I haven't been keeping touch with you about our Counterpoint Not-Working group as much as I'd have liked - still getting back into the swing of things after the summer holidays I think!

As you may know things have changed at Counterpoint. What was our networking group is now our 'not-working' group, name changed to reflect the more social aspect of the meetings. We have a very flexible format (ie there isn't one!) and our members and visitors come along to meet up with other local business owners in a more informal atmosphere than elsewhere. We find this actually really helps with relationship building and we end up passing referrals naturally and honestly because of those relationships.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 12 October at the Red Lion in Hythe from 6-9pm. £5 on the door if you want to join in with the buffet and a cash bar.

Feel free to spread the word but don't send people to our website as it needs a bit of an overhaul (cobblers' children and all that!).

I'd also like to let you know about a live workshop that I am running a week on Saturday. If you want to get a blog website, your social media and email marketing set up and working for you without being held hostage by a supplier, then this is for you. It's in Ashford on Saturday 8 October and then we will be returning on Saturday 19 November to finish everything off once you've gone away and had a practise! You can find out more and book here.

I've also received the following from Jenny at Canterbury Christ Church University, which sounds interesting.

BUSINESS FORUM
Tuesday 18th October 2011
'PRESENTATION SKILLS TO AID GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS'
Good presentation skills are so vital in being able to communicate your business to prospective Buyers, yet if you asked the majority of the population in the UK most would admit to having a fear of standing up in public and giving a presentation.
Since first hearing After Dinner speakers, whilst working within the Investment and Pension sector back in the mid/late seventies, our presenter Peter Curtiss always admired the ability of good speakers, who could both inform and include humour into their speech, and went on to form the Chaucer Speakers Club in Canterbury in 1998. Since that time he has represented the Club very successfully in many competitions (locally and nationally). On the 18th October 2011 Peter will be presenting many of his acquired 'Tips and Hints' at the Business Forum showing you ways these can help in developing good communication skills.
For those who so wish, there will be some interaction and role play, which we hope will be appropriate to your own business and current level of presentation skills.
Business Presentations can be great fun and hopefully rewarding, but these skills do not come overnight or easily to everyone, but a little practice can take you and your business a very long way.

I hope you're enjoying the lovely weather!

I think we sent so much information out in the email on Monday that the Social Media Seminar that we're running next week at Port Lympne got lost as I haven't had quite the rush of bookings that I was expecting given how many people told me they were coming!

So, just thought I'd send a specific email about it.

If you are in any way, shape or form interested or at least curious about using Social Media to promote your local business then you need to be there.

I was at a networking meeting this morning and when asked who had a business page on Facebook, only one other person in the room put their hand up with me!

Did you know that Facebook Business Pages are searchable by Google? Did you know that Twitter is searchable by Google? So what do you think might happen if you add stuff about your business on your Facebook and Twitter pages and then someone locally searches for those keywords? What an opportunity!

And for those of you who want to network, how about trying online networking too? It really enhances your offline stuff and you can do it from your desk, or your mobile! I can show you how.

Many people worry about how to have time to fit social media into their busy day - after all we've all got to do the day job too! How about I show you some simple ways to ensure that you keep your online presence high in the least amount of time?

So, we're running from 6-9pm next Wednesday at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. It's £20 a ticket and at least £10 per ticket will be donated to the Iberian Wolf Observation Tower project that we are supporting within Counterpoint Networking / the Aspinall Business Club. Oh yes, and there will be plenty of opportunity to network too, so if you're already using Social Media why not come along and support us by sharing your experience with others whilst also helping a good cause?

You can book on our website
Social Media Seminar and Networking at Port Lympne

See you there!

Hi

There is a new blog post about Tuesday's networking meeting at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park including
pictures of us all feeding the de Brazza's and Colobus monkeys. It was
fantastic - take a look!
 I would also
like to take this opportunity to remind you about the next Counterpoint
Networking / Aspinall Business Club meeting on 13th January 2010 from 6-9pm at

Port
Lympne
Wild
Animal
Park.
Follow this
link to find out more and book to come. Please note that it's free for Counterpoint Networking members.

Please feel free to pass this email to any of your business contacts who you think may be interested in networking with a difference. At each meeting we also get the opportunity to find out more about the wild animals that
the Aspinall Foundation conserve in the world.
We also have a recent addition to
the Members profiles on our site - Foreman and Jones added their profile to
the website last week and they are already on the front page of Google (above
their own site!) for hypnotherapy hythe hypnotherapist hythe and
sleeplessness Hythe - not bad, eh? This is all part of our membership - what a bargain!

Not
sure if this is the last email before Christmas, but if it is we wish
you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year and we look
forward to seeing you all in 2010!

Hi

This is a quick reminder that we have our next Aspinall Business Club / Counterpoint Networking meeting tomorrow morning at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park from 8.30-10.30am.

I know the mornings aren't always good for everyone but where else do you get to feed De Brazza and Colobus Monkeys?

We have a couple of places left tomorrow if you still want to come but you need to hurry. Imagine how you'll feel watching everyone else feeding the monkeys if you don't book to secure your place! Use the link below to book.

Yes please - I want to feed the monkeys.

PS It is the Hythe Handbook deadline this Friday for the New Year edition to be distributed w/c 4 January. Let me know as soon as you can if you want to book.

Dear

Just a quick email to tell you about the goings on over the next month. Normally at this time of year we would be having our Christmas Party at the windy sailing club!
However we have had such a busy time recently - we were at the World
Internet Summit last weekend, my cousin's wedding this weekend - that
we just haven't had five minutes to organise anything.

So we have decided to have something low-key this year so that we can all get together and plan for a big event next year! The networking meeting will be held on Thursday 26th November (our usual day), 7-9pm at the Red Lion in Hythe which is a great venue we have used many times before.
There will be food, a cash bar and as usual the event is free to
members. And as it is our last Counterpoint Networking event before
Christmas, there will be no cost for non-members to attend either. So tell your colleagues and get them along for some festive networking! It
would be great to know if you're coming, just to know numbers but still
feel free to just turn up though if you can't commit to it now. Find out more here.

Also, on Tuesday 1st December it is the ABC (Aspinall Business Club) meeting that we at Counterpoint Networking are running for the Aspinall Foundation.
It is being held at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park from 8.30-10.30am and
the first lucky twenty people to sign up for the meeting will be able
to meet and feed the de Brazza's monkeys and other primates. The meeting is free for Counterpoint
Networking members, £5 for ABC members (i.e. those who hold an Aspinall
Foundation Pre-Pay Maestro card who are not Counterpoint Networking
members) and £9.99 for all others. All you need to do is book by following this link and choosing your relevant situation!.

You can still turn up on the day, you may not be able to meet the monkeys, but you can still network!

See you soon!

Whoops - meant to send this earlier today! Just off out for dinner for our 5th wedding anniversary so thought I'd quickly send this before we go (I'm so romantic!). I was reminded to do it as we are going to Tim's Vinos y Tapas for our meal, which is where our Counterpoint Networking meeting was this week! We had a great Sparkling Wine Tasting event there on Tuesday, thanks to Tim.

I have added a few posts to our blog today that you might want to have a look at. The first is on behalf of our members Foreman and Jones who are fighting a new European Law banning the sale of herbal medicines, which would put them out of business and stop the public from getting much needed help. They have been interviewed for national papers and local radio and are going on a 'march' to Parliament on Monday 2 November (apparently they aren't actually marching but it sounds like the correct word!). You can read more about it on our website - save herbal medicine

Whilst you're there on the website you will also find, under Latest News, a review of our event this week as well as the last meeting that we had in conjunction with Port Lympne where we got to meet a snake! There's is a video of that on the blog post too.

I'm pleased to announce that we also have a business profile online for Trevor Cobb and the Microwave Service Company in Sellindge.

Finally, don't forget that we will be at the next Aspinall Business Club meeting next Tuesday (3 Nov) from 6-9pm at Port Lympne and there will be a talk by the Hoof Stock Keeper, as well as lots of great networking as usual!

Jo Dodds
Counterpoint Matters

PS Look out for news of our November meeting coming soon - which is our Christmas Party!
