hile I am always once to constantly be seeking out lessons, I also tend at times to be someone who doesn't want to become too hopeful, lest I jinx myself.  Now as soon as I wrote those words, I realized how silly I sound. And in admitting this weakness to you, I hope to discuss the topic that has been on mind this past week.

Each of us only has so much energy in any given day, moment, week, even a lifetime. How we choose to expend it rests solely on each of our individual shoulders, yet even in realizing this, so many of us dismiss it all too quickly.  Recently, in watching Oprah's Master Class where she sits down and has a discussion on the lessons she has learned throughout her life, she stated something that resonated immediately with me.

If we accept the reality that we only have a certain amount of energy, than we must also concede that when we choose to look back or around ourselves to see what might "get" us or who might "beat" us as though we were in a race, we throw energy away, thus giving away a percentage of our power.

If instead we decide to focus our energy forward in hope, in planning, in seeking reason to be confident and in doing what we know, we are better serving ourselves and the likelihood of greater success.

Take some time this weekend to ponder where your energy goes. Do you spend it growing and learning, or gossiping and worrying? Do you remain focused on one task or are you easily distracted by others' wants and demands?  Once you can determine where your energy is going, you can better access your potential success, and if you are unsatisfied with the current state, set your mind to change it.  We truly do have more control than we realize.

In this week's newsletter I am happy to include the book review I have been excitedly waiting to share with you for quite some time now. Ines de la Fressange's book Parisian Chic without question received five stars, and I have a feeling you will find some style ideas and simple suggestions to help make your wardrobe fantastically classic and easy to apply to your life.

Also, on Thursday, the April/May issue of Laura U Mag was released with a contributing article that I thoroughly enjoyed putting together. Click here to read on page 30 Enjoying the Outdoors: Spring Style where I did a bit of shopping for four outfits that can carry you from a wine tasting weekend to the country (as seen below). Also included in this issue is my interview with The English Organizer - Pauline Wiles in which she shares detailed, yet simple ways to tackle spring cleaning and create a sanctuary that provides comfort and a place to truly relax (page 112).

I hope the week has treated you well and you are looking forward to a restful few days off to rev up your engines for what lies ahead. No matter how busy our lives become, taking the time to rejuvenate - whether it be sitting down to enjoy a movie, escaping from your hometown for a few nights or simply getting lost in a bookstore downtown is absolutely necessary to achieve the balance that is the foundation for a fulfilling life.  Whatever you are doing, I do hope you enjoy and  until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
