I don't know about you, but there are times I discover myself being more wrapped up and invested in something than I realized only to discover when it is all over how much of an emotional toll it has taken on my mind and energy level.  With the United States' Presidential election finally coming to an end this week after more than 18 months, I found myself on Wednesday more drain than I had ever anticipated.

As a civics and rhetoric teacher, I was regularly staying abreast of the issues, events and articles, trying to stay at least one step ahead of my students as to be prepared for any question that may present itself, along with the fact that I thoroughly love news and being aware of the world and what is going on.

However, I was exhausted.

Of course, I looked for the lesson in all of my exhaustion and quandary, and this is what I came up with.

What a wonderful thing it is to discover something that grabs your attention, makes you care beyond expectation and reveals something we may not have known about ourselves. To become so wrapped up and passionate about something that you don't realize the energy and emotions you are expending, almost as if time is not a factor because you're doing what you enjoy, now that is a wonderful thing. While there will always be ups and downs in the lives we lead even if we are fortunate enough to discover what it is we are passionate about, the time and energy necessary to accomplish what we desire doesn't seem to matter. And that is the gift.

In this week's readers' favorite post, I've shared a simple equation for discovering exactly what one's life passion could potentially be. I wholeheartedly believe that we all have a life's passion; it is simply a matter of being willing to take the time to discover it. Because it is upon discovering what your direction is that makes life all the more pleasurable to live as you make your way along the journey - no matter how exhausting the pursuit.

With now under two weeks to go until Thanksgiving, it feels like the holidays have landed in our laps out of nowhere; however, since the cold winter weather has arrived, it seems to be all the more tolerable and even intoxicating as all the festive events draw closer. Be sure to take a look at this week's Style Inspiration with ideas for how to dress for the cooler months ahead.

As promised, on Tuesday, the winner of Jennifer L. Scott's book Lessons from Madame Chic was announced, but even if your name wasn't chosen, I highly recommend purchasing your own copy. It really is that enjoyable and packed full of beautiful ideas on how to live a more Parisian inspired way of life.
And I certainly didn't forget to announce the winner of a free image and color consultation. The lucky winner is [email protected]! Please email me to discover how to claim your prize.

Well, my weekend will be full of both fun and play. With a quick trip to my beloved Portland and then some time spent in the yard raking the endless leaves currently decorating my lawn. How will you be spending your two (or possibly three) days off?

Oh, before I forget, I mentioned last weekend that I took some time to go a little wine tasting in our local wine valley. Be sure to take a look at this week's Why Not . . .? post as I share reasons to consider your own wine tasting trip as well as photos captured from my excursion.

Do enjoy the weekend ahead, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog!
