"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day."

he end of 2011 is here. I can't quite believe it myself, but in the same breath I can. Twelve months is a decent amount of time to make significant changes in our lives.  Keeping that in mind, it should be reassuring to know that we have yet again, thankfully, 12 more months in 2012 to get it right, do it better or capitalize on what we've already successfully created for our lives and achieving our unique and individual fulfillment.

I don't know about you, but each year I become more determined because I am fueled by what I've accomplished the year before.  The amazingly brief moments we have should be motivation by itself to get up, get moving and make our dreams happen.

With that said, I am a resolutions girl.  I thoroughly love sitting down and writing two or three very specific changes I want to see in my life by the end of the year.  I then break them down and plan it out month by month. Preferably, I try to place them in a journal that is easy to keep track of, and if I can afford it - beautiful, so that I can regularly assess how I am doing, adjust and applaud.

As my life becomes fuller, I am having to become very disciplined about keeping existing systems and ways of doing things in tact, so for me, one of my resolutions is to remain simplified and be very particular about what I bring into and let go of in my life.  With that said, here is a Why Not . . . ? series from the past that I could definitely look back over and maybe you'd like to visit as well:

In this week's newsletter you will find a look back over the past year on the blog with specific highlights from each of the days of the weeks' themes.  Also, as the end of the year came to a close it was my goal to revamp or refresh The Simply Luxurious Life, and so I have decided to add a Tumblr site as well which will be full of those many stylish images, quotes, ideas, recipes and quick bits of interesting news that just don't fit here on the blog, but I am wanting to share with you.  I do hope you'll have a look as it is a way for those of you who are very busy to stay caught up, continue to be inspired and have a quick moment to see beautiful images and rev up your creativity.

Have a wonderful end to 2011 and a auspicious start to 2012.  After all, so much of our destiny is in our own hands. Won't you gather up that responsibility and amaze yourself? Until next week and next year, I'll see you on the blog.

This Week's

Style Suggestion

A gray dress will take you from the work place to the dining room without batting an eye.  This exact style was worn by Princess Catherine Middleton when she visited California this past summer.  Marked down for sale in a classic color, put this dress in your closet and you will always look chic with fun accessories for night and conservative jewelry for day.
