One of my most beloved things to do when I can find free time is to just read. And with the whirlwind of fall, I've been hard pressed to find time to just lose track of time and get lost in a worthwhile article in the New Yorker or the pages of my most recent delivery from Amazon. I have a feeling this may be the same for some of you as well. However, what I am determined to do is make time - to say no a bit more to things that may not be necessary or may cause me to be pulled in too many directions ultimately reducing the quality time I do spend doing the things I love.  How about you? Will you do the same?

You see, when I read, I never feel alone. Whether it's a book or an intriguing opinion piece, I dread looking at the clock because it will only be a reminder of how little time I have left to simply get lost in the sea of well crafted words, thoughts and inspirational ideas. Isn't that the wonderful gift of a hobby? To entertain your mind and your time in such a beneficial and enlightening way that you shut out everything else.

Maybe reading isn't on the top of your favorite hobby list like it is mine, but I encourage you to consider incorporating it a bit more into your life. The archival post I pulled for today's newsletter (see below) shares the many benefits of reading. The key to enjoying anything is to make it feel like a luxury. Find a comfortable chair, wrap yourself in your favorite blanket, sit by a crackling fire or play light music in the background. Whatever you need to do to make the experience all the more pleasurable so that you'll want to carve out time each day or weekend to do so, be sure to do it. It's worth it and the benefits are tremendous.

This week on the blog readers found inspiration for making fantastic, yet simple changes in their kitchens all without a contractor, style inspiration for those of us who love the staple color of black and inspiration and ideas for how to let go of worrying about what others think (one tip involves including more travel in your schedule!). Needless to say, you'll find a handful of topics covered, hopefully one that is exactly what you've been looking for or needing.

I am still astounded that October is in full swing albeit excited as well because I finally had an excuse last weekend to purchase a few pumpkins to decorate my home. I hope October is treating you well, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
