The holiday season in many ways has begun with Halloween just behind us and Thanksgiving less than three weeks away. One of the things I love most about fall
is when soft rain falls atop trees that have turned exquisitely golden and ruby red. To either take my dogs on a walk with my feet donning my favorite yellow wellies, taking a drive as the windshield wipers sing their own tune or simply sitting in my large armchair next to an even larger picture window watching rain fall on the pavement while I sip something warm and listen to the crackle of the fire in the fireplace, this to me is the simple luxury of coziness and tranquility during this beautiful autumn time of year.
It is easy to miss these moments because one minute the weather is warm and beckoning, then the next it is frigid and the trees have been blown bare. What I have discovered is by slowing down and taking the time to absorb my surroundings, I am able to enjoy these fleeting moments that nature has to offer no matter what may be going on with my schedule.
Just as the tumult and devastation on the east coast has wrecked havoc on so many lives, it is a sullen reminder to appreciate and enjoy those beautiful, kind moments that Mother Nature offers. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of my readers and those afflicted by the wrath of Sandy.
Whether the lesson of living in the moment and appreciating what it offers is learned via experience or observation, heed what it is trying to teach us all. Lift your eyes from your smart phone, take your fingers off your tablet, and look up, look around, before such beauty is no longer.

You may have noticed a very slight change on the blog this week (and if not, no worries, as it was quite minimal). I can now officially state that "simply luxurious" is a registered trademark term. After nine months, and with less confusion and frustration than I had anticipated, I'm thrilled to share this good news.
And so, the weekend is here. With weekend plans of touring a few local wineries to stock up my cellar for the holiday season, I am more than ready for the weekend to begin, and relaxing and enjoyment to be in full gear. Whatever your weekend may bring, I hope it is full of comfort, at least one guilty pleasure or two and time to do exactly as you please.
