The Simply Luxurious Life newsletter 93

Spring has arrived, supposedly, here in the states (at least for the west coast), however it seems to be having a tough time making up its mind if it's really ready to spend time with us and send winter packing. Yesterday morning I woke up to see my neighborhood dusted with snow and large, wet snowflakes effortlessly falling from the sky. Personally, I found this quite serene, but I know for many, it was not as welcomed.

Much like March, with the weather tending to be a bit precarious, so too can the process of seeking personal growth. When we choose to seek change within ourselves, whether it's how we handle money, how we take care of our bodies, how we use our words or how we believe in ourselves, we can feel uncertain initially when we begin to make changes.  We may first wonder if the uncomfortable feeling is how we are supposed to feel or be tempted to step back into our old ways.  If we continue to progress, we may still run up against frustrating situations and again question whether it was a good idea to seek out such dramatic change; however, these are simply growing pains. And much like physical growing pains, they hurt, they are uncomfortable and while we're in the middle of process, we're not exactly sure how this could possibly be a positive thing.

First of all, let me reassure you. Seeking change within your self is a sign that you respect yourself, that you know yourself well enough to know you can do more to fulfill your potential and that you want to live your best life. The path to fulfillment will not be clear and blissful. Yes, many moments will be and your destination, will be worth the struggle, but making permanent changes in how you think, behave and function will be difficult at times. But just as March has an end (and so does April if you live in colder regions where spring doesn't truly arrive until just before summer is about to begin), so too does the pain felt when you choose to change how you live.

So this weekend, how can you take more control of the direction of your life? Knowing that the pain will come, but also knowing that it will lead to amazing reformations, are you still willing to go forward? What do you want to change? What do you want to fine-tune? Here's a post that I think you might enjoy:

In this week's newsletter, there are all sorts of goodies. From a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to shop at Shopbop (click here to enter and learn more about the giveaway), to a scrumptious new spring pasta dish I just discovered - click here to view.

The most popular post this week involved simple ways to live a bit healthier throughout each day.  I don't know about you, but when I make something too complicated it never seems to work.  It is only when I simplify the process, make it easy to follow no matter what is going on in my life, that it actually becomes a habit.  So many of the great healthy tips I share are ones I use in my day-to-day life, and I hope you find a few that you want to try as well.  After all, the best recipe for feeling and looking our best is taking care of the machine that is our bodies.

Another necessary ingredient to feeling our best is taking time to ourselves.  This weekend, I plan to get away from home, pack the dogs up and head to the country for a quiet respite. (Oh, I must polish up my wellies!) There is something restorative about getting away when you know that you can allow yourself to just be.

I hope you too have delightful plans in your near future. Enjoy this first weekend of spring and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
