It's a funny thing about chasing after a dream. In the beginning it seems impossible, but what the heck, why not try? As you continue to work toward it, noticing how much of your effort, resources and time are expended toward something you aren't sure will happen, you toss aside doubts that pop up every once in awhile and continue forward, but as you near it, and you finally see it within your sights, there are moments of disbelief.  There are moments, at least for me, where I have to stand still and really take it all in. Take in the fact that is happening. It's real.

As you might imagine, my trip to New York City to take part in Fashion Week festivities is something that didn't happen with the snap of my fingers. It was something that I put on my goal sheet and stayed focused on for nearly two years. As you read this on Friday, I will be boarding the plane, travel tote and carry on suitcase in tow, eagerly ready to begin my time in Manhattan. And you know, no matter how it all works out, whatever I'm able to view, whoever I'm able to meet, etc, I know it will be amazing because it's not something that was easy to make a reality. Simply walking through Central Park will put the grandest smile on my face because I'm actually there - the energy, the creativity, the competitiveness, the collaborations - after ten long years, I've finally been able to return to a city that has always pique my interest and stirred my passions. And that's the beauty of working hard to make something happen. You appreciate it all the more. You're less likely to toss it aside and take it for granted.

I talk a lot about dreams in the weekly newsletters and on the blog, but I feel that when you're in the middle of pursuing a dream that isn't going to come easy, you need constant encouragement. I want you to know that no matter where you are in the journey, you can do. I know you can. Anything that tugs at your heart strings and never lets go will always call you until you do something about it. Don't stop. Before you know it, you'll be standing there facing a dream that is now your reality.

In this week's newsletter, I am excited to announce the winner of the luxurious Eberjey giveaway. The lucky winner of the Gisele robe is . . .Carrie Couch of All Things Dinkulous! Congratulations Carrie, and thank you for everyone who entered. I'm always on the lookout for luxurious giveaways, and subscribers to the newsletter will always be the first to know.

What else you will find in this week's newsletter is a post that so many people seemed to enjoy especially as September's to-do lists begin to get a bit lengthier now that the summer is over - September Back-to-School/Work Checklist. While the kids are getting ready for school, as adults, each one of us still deserves to pamper and prepare in a way that makes us feel confident, more-than-ready and energized for anything that comes our way. So from beauty, to organization and even pampering materials, my 20-point checklist will be certain to assist in a wonderful start to a beautiful month.

Jenesequa's tenth issue, their pre-fall issue, was just released, and if you have an iPad or iPhone, and are curious about New York Fashion Week and how it all began, be sure to ready my article on the history of NYFW. It was an intriguing article to write, and I discovered that out of disappointment, mistakes and tragedy, amazing things can be created.

I do hope September has begun with a beautiful bang for you and those you love. Stay tuned through the weekend and all next week for glimpses at the simply luxurious fashions walking down the runway in New York as well as the beauties I discover in the Big Apple, and be sure that next week's newsletter will contain it all.

Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

-Shannon
