ave you ever asked yourself why in those moments of absolute contentment, when you're able to sit down and not be compelled to do something (similar to the pose the lovely Audrey Hepburn is engaging in to the right) you are able to be so blissful and worry-free?

I have a feeling that a lot of reasons will come to mind, and depending upon the time and where you are in your life, you will be able to clearly explain exactly why.

One aspect that I have found that for me leads up to such a moment as described above is having an outlet for your passion and being able to take advantage of it. When we find what truly moves us and engages our heart and our mind, after we've completed what we can during the course of a day and seeing some growth (no matter how small), the ability to sit and just be is possible.

Now this is not to say that you won't be itching to get going tomorrow, but when you know you have found this place of passion, effort to put towards it, along with time to do what you enjoy, it's an amazing place to find.

This week, Monday's Inspiration - To Complement, Not Complete - caused wonderful feedback and was overwhelmingly the favorite post of the week.  Some readers shared their experience, some wrote emails sharing more detail and so many of you retweeted the link to your followers, and for all of this I want to thank you. The post shared some very strong opinions on my part and I know not everyone agreed, but I always welcome debate and appreciate the respectful feedback no matter which side of the issue you fall.

Also this week, it was brought to my attention by one of my lovely readers Lila that Rachel Zoe's Fall Collection is available for pre-sale at Neiman Marcus for a two week period that began on Tuesday. Along with that news is reminder to myself to be patient until August 2nd when her 4th season of The Rachel Zoe Project premieres.

Over the past weekend Laura U Mag's June/July issue was released, along with my contribution of how to wear the latest trend - retro swimwear, as well as a fantastic post by Tonia of Chic Modern Vintage on how 5 top bloggers travel in style. If you have time, do try and take a look.

A few announcements I wanted to alert you to. First of all, be sure to stop by this upcoming Wednesday (July 6th) on the blog as there will be a giveaway for all of you who love to decorate. This particular giveaway is a great resource that the lucky winner will be sure to enjoy. Also, I initially wanted to produce a quarterly newsletter that would be released on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and September 1st, but as the July 1st deadline came closer, I began to realize there wasn't anything that I wasn't already sharing on the blog that wouldn't appear in the weekly newsletter. So I have made a decision to keep my September and April bi-yearly newsletters as they will focus strictly on the respective seasons new trends and styles as a way of helping your prep your wardrobe. I'm already extremely excited for the upcoming fall styles to hit the stores, as you see below Banana Republic has created a collection with the help of Mad Men's stylist for this fall (to hit stores in August). As always it is my goal to produce newsletters and posts that contain quality, and I am continually learning as I go.  Thank you for being a reader and subscriber to The Simply Luxurious Life.  I genuinely feel very fortunate.

In closing, whether you are off for a long road trip, taking to the skies or chilling at home, I hope you enjoy the first weekend of July with some delicious meals, carefree conversation and moments to make you grateful. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

-Shannon

For the long holiday weekend that many of you are going to enjoy this weekend, comfort is key, but that doesn't mean forgetting about style. Throw on these Bermuda shorts, add a dash of accessories with a simple pop of color and you will be set.
