Do you ever become frustrated with the tug-of-war between big dreams and limited funds? Initially it seems that if only you had more money, more of your dreams would come true. More grand trips, more grand financing, a bigger home, etc, etc.

While yes, some money for a roof over our heads and food on the table is a necessity, one of the greatest assets we tend to forget about because we are too busy looking at what we don't have is our ingenuity.  An American idiom states, "Necessity is the mother of invention", and you know, not only does this speak to the development of our country and others into the industrialized age and now into the technological age, but it also speaks to the dreams we dare to dream.

Take a moment and ask yourself why you have the dreams you have? Is it to make life more comfortable, to reach your full potential, to get out of a bad situation, to find fulfillment? Whatever it is, there needs to be a need, which all of these can be. That need is what will propel you, motivate you, drive you, push you when you're exhausted and doubtful, to continue to come up with creative ways to make what you want to happen take place.

And when you truly desire to attain something, you won't be deterred. You will refuse to let your lack of funds stop you in your tracks. You will refuse to listen to the naysayers that continue to chide that it can't be done. It may take longer than you had expected, you may learn more about others than you ever expected, and you may have to come up with unique ways to raise money to pay your rent or buy that ticket, but you can make it happen with a lot of creative spirit and a dose of gumption to give it a shot.

This week's newsletter, even though, short on multiple posts, included a topic that many readers have been emailing me to address -  lingerie. So on Wednesday, which became the most popular post of the week, readers discovered this week's Why Not . . .? focusing on why you should buy lingerie for yourself, how to choose from all of the choices, how to care for it, where to shop and websites that focus strictly on lingerie.

Also, if you have been dying to own your very own pair of Jimmy Choos, wait no longer and run to Net-a-Porter's sale. You will see in this week's A Stylish Idea that nude patent leather pumps are available for $198 as opposed to $400+ when regularly priced.

End of season sales are also a sign that summer has officially arrived. And the weather here on the west coast and most of the U.S. has been quite warm and beautiful, which is always a sign of opportunities to enjoy fresh berry tarts, barbeques, sipping glasses of chilled viognier and melting in adirondack chairs at the end of a busy day outside.

Some of my subscribers who are in the area, be sure to stop by my Fashion Lovers yard sale that is going on Friday and Saturday this weekend. I hate to see some of my clothes go, but I must, and I'll be honest, it does feel good to reduce what I have.

And for the many of you who are from all different parts of the world, do enjoy your weekend. Thank you for the support, emails and Ask Shannon questions. I am thoroughly humbled by your response and am continuing to respond to those I've received this week.

Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

-Shannon
