One thing that always amazes and inspires me when I'm stuck at a crossroads in my life is what I learn upon reflecting back a year ago. To see where I was, what I was doing, who I was spending time with, what I believed was or was not possible, never ceases to remind me that what I believe I can do and what I actual do in such a short amount of time is nothing short of remarkable.

I have a feeling it is the same for you as well. Often when we are in the moment of our daily routine we forget how quickly our lives can change. We forget how with one unexpected introduction, captured opportunity or risk taken, our world can change dramatically.

Lately I've been reminding myself of this realization because so long as we place ourselves on the right track and begin to strive forward in the right direction, we are building momentum for the change we seek to occur. Accepting this logic is hard sometimes, but once we come to understand that there is so very much out of our control and choose to take control of the little we can maneuver, we set ourselves up for inspiring evolutions to evolve.

As I wrote about in Monday's post - Turning Fairy Tales Into Reality - unforeseen obstacles will undoubtedly have to be confronted, but so long as we do address them and refuse to turn away, the path becomes clearer and our dreams begin to turn to reality.

Here's a post from the archives that addresses how to handle said obstacles . . .

In this week's newsletter, I am excited to share with you a new recipe that I've been wanting to try. Ideal with tea in the morning, afternoon or evening (is there ever a bad time for something sweet?), this recipe is simple and scrumptious.

Also, Wednesday's post was inspired by current events, and the comments and emails I received regarding this post were humbling in a very lovely way. Be sure to read Why Not . . . Invest in Education?

February is well under way, and whether you are bracing for the blizzard on the east coast, basking in the sun in Australia or eagerly waiting for spring as the rain and gradual warmth comes back to the Pacific Northwest, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

Want & Have Outfit:

No. 20

As I mentioned in the very first Want & Have Outfit post, my skirt preference is the pencil style. And a wonderful way to mix up this classic choice is to involve texture and different fabrics than the traditional cotton or wool.

With polka dots all the rage these past few seasons and again this spring, pairing such a fun print with a unique pencil skirt in a neutral color is a wonderful way to create a signature look. Oh, and never forget to include a touch of color - love Michael Kors satchel in palm green.

And if you're on the fence about wearing a pencil skirt, here are some reasons to help you reconsider:
