he first day of summer officially arrived in the northern hemisphere and with it beautifully warm weather and occasional summer thunder showers.
I found myself a few times this past week just taking in all that Mother Nature allows us to witness during this beautiful time of year - the gentle movement of the leaves on the willow tree, the lulling songs of the birds and the amazingly fragrant and intoxicating scent of cool rain hitting the warm earth.

There is such a comfort in being in Nature's presence and at the same time a humbling effect. I am reminded that if I don't care for something it perishes, but on the flip side if I offer time, attention and effort to take care for it in the way it needs, beautiful things can reveal themselves.

The same can be said for humans - our dreams, our structures, our loved ones, and our communities.

Being appreciative of what is providing such a wonderful life is an act of responsibility. Being willing to put forth effort to maintain, strengthen or improve what it is we want to see continued is a sign of love, but so often we become complacent and forgetful of the basic laws of nature. That which we actively attend to multiplies and that which is ignored strays out of our control.

Look around you today - at the beauty, the people, the jobs, the home, your way of life - and be thankful, then get busy maintaining and strengthening what you'd like to continue to see in your life.  We all must play an active part in preserving the beauty we love and the beauty we treasure if we want to be assured of its permanence.

The longest day of the year is just barely behind us, and how I do love the sun peaking up earlier than I dare to wake, beckoning me to come welcome the day and the long gradual evenings at dusk that seem to last long past bedtime.

, I hope these first few days of summer have been gentle and lovely to you.  Summer offers so many opportunities for good health, time with family and those you love and a way to rejuvenate the spirit for the busy next season.

I want to welcome all of my many new subscribers and hope you find some inspiration, ideas and simple luxuries to add to your day as you peruse through each weekly issue of The Simply Luxurious Life newsletter.  Also, I wanted to give a grateful shout-out to some readers who introduced themselves to me this week. Elsa, Lila, Ellen, Blue, Jane and  Asja - thank you for your words, questions, and ideas, and even more so than anything, your time.  Thank you very much for your kind words.
