The Simply Luxurious Life newsletter 131

The first full work week of the new year is just about over. How did it go for you? While so much of our lives is out of our control, the attitude we bring to each day can help set a tone of optimism and conviviality or cynicism and dread. I am quite confident that you are striving every day to set the former, and here are a few things that worked for me this past week:
getting enough sleep each night
exercising in the morning
having clothes in my closet that I look forward to wearing which help me feel more confident throughout my day
creating evening rituals that are pleasurable, simple and restorative (and most importantly, things I look forward to)
extending compliments to those around me with sincerity
creating a balanced schedule and consciously not overbooking
planning events, activities and projects that I look forward to
celebrating the small successes and bits of good news received
These are just a few of the things I can remember doing this week that assisted in setting an optimistic tone for the new year. So while we may feel there is far too much we can't control, why not try to do what you can to create an environment of gratitude, enjoyment and contentment as you go about your every day schedule?
Here is a post from the archives to help you come up with your own simple pleasures to enjoy throughout any given week . . .
In this week's newsletter you will find another giveaway I am so happy to be able to share with you. Last month, Julie Vos kindly sent me a few of pieces of jewelry (read this post to see which items), and I chose one of these items to offer as a giveaway. A wonderful piece to add to your wardrobe: a beautiful long silver chain. Do be sure to enter by Monday if you are interested
, and the winner will be announced in next Friday's newsletter.
With cooking, fashion and learning how to cultivate a life without worry the focus of the blog this week, you're sure to find a post that captures your interest. Have a wonderful weekend. To much of the states, stay warm this weekend, and to everyone enjoy a few days of leisure. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
A Look Back on this Week on the Blog . . .1, 2, 3 years ago . . .
Black is always a fantastic idea in the winter, but I've
found some simple, chic ways to dress it up, and this month, save some
money. With new spring collections becoming available on February 1st, Reiss
has slashed prices even further starting today - some items by 70%. I
couldn't help myself as I now own their Eloise black tie front blouse.
Very much oversized and blousy, it is perfect with slim-fitting jeans,
trousers or a pencil skirt. Easy to dress up or down, I decided to style
it for a weekend with bright matchstick denim from J.Crew (also on sale!), a classic black suede pump and a beautiful leopard tote that is drastically reduced.
adding one trendy item that doesn't break the bank, the other quality
items shine even brighter and are subtly changed from season to season
based on the ever-changing fashion trends and preferences.
