Recently, as I begin to make progress toward more of my goals, and my excitement accelerates, I'm finding that my schedule is becoming a bit more demanding, which requires that I take a closer look at exactly what aids in propelling me toward my goals and what does not. And one of the most precious resources throughout all of this schedule analysis is the realization that my energy level is key to doing anything at a high level of quality.

With that said, the importance of knowing what activities to involve myself in, which to politely say no to, what battles to engage in and which to walk away from plays a crucial role in being able to successfully complete the goals I am striving toward.

So how exactly do we discern which activities to involve ourselves in and which battles to throw ourselves into? In response to the former: only engage yourself or commit yourself to activities that further progress toward your goals or bring your joy, pleasure or contentment without detracting from the progress you've already made. And in response to the latter: only engage in arguments or battles that will improve a relationship or require you to stand up for your reputation should it be damaged if you don't. In other words, keep your ego in check and realize not saying something is just as powerful as it demonstrates self-restraint and does not bring you down to their insecure and petty level.

By being aware of how you are spending your energy, you will be better able to save your finite energy for projects that matter and that bring more value and fulfillment into your life. This week's post from the archives shares ten ways to help yourself out with simple, easy to follow ideas:

Also, if you were curious as to why exactly I went to Detroit, you can now view all of the photos and images in this week's post Destination Detroit: My Buick Encore Experience, as well as discover exactly why I was there (hint: it involves a simply luxurious design of Buick's new Encore).

Never-the-less, the week was busy and flew by (as I'm sure it did for you as well), but not without leaving me exhausted and ready for the upcoming weekend. I know I say this often, but I never cease being humbled by readers' lovely comments and emails. This week especially, thank you for all of your engagement.

I sincerely hope that fall is treating you well, and that you are thoroughly enjoying the uniquely tailored simply luxurious life you have created for yourself. You deserve to feel good about the life you are living. You deserve to treat yourself, and you deserve to reap the benefits and joy from all of the hard work you contribute to your life and those around you. "Choose your battles wisely. After all, life isn't measured by how many times you stood up to fight. It's not winning battles that makes you happy, but it's how many times you turned away and chose to look into a better direction. Life is too short to spend it on warring. Fight only the most, most, most important ones, let the rest go."
