Last weekend I found myself in my pantry spending the entire morning cleaning it out and organizing it. While it took some time, the pantry is now my favorite room in the house. No, not really, but it is a place I now love going to because it is tidy, free from clutter and only contains what I use. What an immensely freeing feeling.

For me there has always been a certain unexplainable comfort to simplicity - fewer items to care for, fewer items to find a home for, and with the patience to wait and get exactly what I want or need, I've gradually realized during that duration of waiting, that I don't need it and thus save myself a few pennies.

So I guess the grand lesson that I am finding to be true time and time again is that we don't need as much as we think we need. Often it is simply a want. A want that will eventually become clutter that we will have to clean out and pass along to someone else who may or may not want it.

As much as we need to streamline and prioritize our time so that we are able to focus and spend time on the things that matter in order for our relationships to grow more deeply, we should also follow the same approach when it comes to bringing items into our homes - our lives. Because while they are just things, they take up space, they clutter, they distract, they take time away from doing things we would rather or rather should be doing, which complicate our lives unnecessarily.

So today, consider what in your home or office could be cleaned out or reorganized so as to bring more comfort into your daily life. In Monday's post, the topic of comfort and its part in the equation of luxury was discussed. And I must admit, if I don't feel comfortable, I can't feel as though I'm living a luxurious life. Living a simply luxurious life isn't easy, as it is a continual process and a unique approach to living life, but it is absolutely worth the benefits that are enjoyed once the effort has been put forth.

In this week's newsletter you will find a book review that I have a feeling my fellow Francophiles will love, a peek at one of my favorite trends of the upcoming fall season, a focus on the basics when it comes to style and of course a happy birthday wish to Coco Chanel (August 19th).

And don't forget that on Sunday September 1st, the annual 2013 Fall Shopping Guide will be sent to all subscribers. I'm working with a new format for this issue and am excited to debut it.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you very much for choosing to subscribe to The Simply Luxurious Life weekly newsletter. Until next Friday, I'll see you on the blog.

    Splurge & Save Outfit:

    No. 21

Today's Style Inspiration focused on "Just the Basics", and one of the must-have basics in any woman's closet regardless of her profession is a black dress. The adjective of "little" is so misleading, so I'm removing it from its descriptor unofficially. The black dress should be flattering, not skimpy. It should be mysterious, not skin-tight. And lastly, the little black dress should be versatile - easily worn for day or evening simply by changing up the accessories.

In today's Splurge & Save I've found both flats and pumps, depending upon your preference or occasion, and two quality bags for day at great prices. Simply swap them out for a clutch before heading out for the evening. Oh, and notice J.Crew's promo. If you have an inkling to stock up on some their clothing or accessories for your fall wardrobe and plan on spending over $250, be sure to use the promo code mentioned below to save 25%. Happy shopping!
