There is a quote that has been running around in my mind this past week, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among stars." There are many different reasons it has been tap dancing around in my brain, but what I've realized is that in all things, why not shoot for the moon? Why not believe that anything is possible? Why not expect the best? Why not dream big?

I have been reflecting lately on my personal growth over the past year, as I've stated before, and in the moment it doesn't ever really seem as though we've grown, just as a parent doesn't see their child's physical grow every single day, but when we stop and reflect or look at the pencil marks on the wall where we measure a child's growth, we realize how much has changed. Simply by setting grand goals, but then making small steps to reach them slowly but surely we make progress. Often that progress plays out in ways we had not even expected.  And more importantly, what this progress does is help provide inspiration to keep moving forward, keep taking those small steps because in variably you'll wind up somewhere amazing. It may not be the "moon", but it will be fabulously impressive. This is I am confident in.

In this week's most popular post, The Value of Small Steps,  I took a moment to look at every day life and bring to light all of those little things we can do each day that can make an amazing difference in the quality of our lives as long as we remain conscious in our decision making and determined to live our best life. Have a look

To complement a few of the points made in Monday's Inspirational post, financial independence is a huge factor in feeling content. Feel free to read the below post from the archives where specific benefits of creating this independence for yourself are shared:

The last week of June is wrapping up, and I can't believe July is around the corner. A handful of thought provoking posts and events occurred this week. The passing of Nora Ephron certainly caught me off guard, so in homage I decided to share a few of my thoughts on what her movies and writing have meant to me in Nora Ephron - Thank You. And I also shared this week an article in The Atlantic that certainly sparked conversations with other fellow women that I'm still muddling through. I'd love to hear your thoughts after you read it.

On a lighter note, I always have fashion on my mind in some regard, and this week Emma of Style Sequel teamed up with me on this week's Why Not . . . ? post to share her expert advice on how to shop consignment. Part of my approach to living a simply luxurious life is to be financially savvy, but also purchase quality clothing. So when I decided to include consignment shopping in my shopping repertoire it seemed to  make sense. Have a look at the post if you're curious about giving it a try as well.

This month also marks the two year anniversary of The Simply Luxurious Life's newsletter.  I want to thank you yet again for choosing to subscribe to the weekly publication. We are now more than 4000 strong, and I continue to be humbled by your emails, comments and support. Thank you again.

Have a lovely weekend soaking up some sun, cooling off in the pool or attending local markets and summer activities. If you are celebrating the upcoming Fourth of July festivities this week no matter where you are, relax, enjoy and be safe. Until next week, I'll see you on the blog.

    June  29, 2012               Issue #107

"This is the season when a clutch of successful women -- who have it all -- give speeches to women like you and say, to be perfectly honest, you can't have it all. Maybe young women don't wonder whether they can have it all any longer, but in case of you are wondering, of course you can have it all. What are you going to do? Everything, is my guess. It will be a little messy, but embrace the mess. It will be complicated, but rejoice in the complications. It will not be anything like what you think it will be like, but surprises are good for you. And don't be frightened: you can always change your mind. I know: I've had four careers and three husbands."
