aiting in line.  At some point during your week, you've most likely waited in line for something - whether it was standing in line at the grocery store, waiting at a red light, waiting for the work day to come to an end or waited in line for a performance, speaker or author. Now while these seem like simple ways to wait in line, I would like to take this concept a step further.

Admittedly there are things in life that we have to wait in line for whether we want to or not - our paycheck, our turn to pump gas, notification of acceptance to a program/school/club, but there are also things in life that are worth waiting for, and thereby we choose to do so.

Those things in life that are worth waiting for are what I would like us all to think about today.  In 1962, Russian composer Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky after being exiled for decades from his mother country was invited back to conduct a concert in Leningrad that caused people to wait in line for a year in order to see. This actual event prompted the recently released historical fiction book The Line to be written by Olga Grushin.

After learning of such dedication and willingness to wait for such a long duration for something, I couldn't help but wonder what in my own life was worth waiting such an extravagantly long time for.

But then I began to realize that I, like so many people around this globe, are waiting as I write this for so many things already.  Some of these things are goals we have set for ourselves (personal, retirement, family, love, peace, etc). This waiting in line is essentially putting our priorities in order - what is worth working and striving for and what isn't?

So I'd like for us all to take a moment and ponder the question, what is worth waiting for and what is a waste of our time to hold out for?  Hopefully, you have long ago accurately determined what is worthy of your time, hopes and dreams and are able to clearly ignore those other deterrents that grasp at your attention, but have no intention of fulfilling your heart and life.  Such a distinction is easy to discern when you know what your priorities are. Whether it's waiting for a prince for almost a decade, standing in line while in college for the big civil war football game tickets or bearing the heat to see the future President of the United States speak only fifty feet in front of you - you will know what is worth your time when you listen to your inner voice.

In this week's newsletter a new Why Not . . .? series began and seemed to be very well received.  One of my genuine passions is helping other women, and young girls especially, realize the power they hold simply by awakening them to the amazing strengths we all have and putting them into play to propel them toward the life of amazing fulfillment.  In Why Not . . . Be A Successful Woman?, I hope you too might find something that speaks to you, but more than anything I would love for you to share your keys to success.  The most helpful guidance I have ever received has come from women who have figured out how to make success a possibility rather than just a dream. So please don't be shy and share with all of us the key to living your successful life.

In case you haven't heard, the Royal Wedding took place just a few hours ago (if you're reading this on Friday), and I have been a bit enthralled (okay, very obsessed).  With this grand tradition in mind, this week's Rules of Style focused on the beautiful Kate Middleton as well as post dedicated to one of her favorite designers - Issa.

While many of us may be a bit sleep deprived from waking up early Friday morning to view the Royal festivities (I must confess, the alarm was set for 2am), I do hope you have a scrumptious weekend and a bright and sunny May Day on Sunday.  Take the opportunity to deliver a freshly picked single flower to a friend and leave it on their door step as a simple surprise.  However you welcome one of the most beautiful months of the year, I hope you have a lovely weekend, and until next week, I'll see you on the blog.
