Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

GIVE THE GIFTS OF THE HEART
Have you ever stressed and fretted over providing the perfect gift? Do you know what the perfect gift is? Do you know it's actually within any budget?
Give the gifts of the heart.
The holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other important days which require gifts can have us going crazy trying to find the perfect thing. We forget that we ourselves just might be what we're looking for. And we don't have to limit ourselves to giving on just those special occasions.
We have gifts of the heart we can offer year round. What gifts are those?
Let's start with COMPANIONSHIP. There are so many people in this world who really need a good friend. Someone to listen to their stories, validate their lives, share their ups and downs. Whether it's a family member, coworker, friend, or even a stranger in a hospital, nursing home, or hospice, there is no shortage of people in need of companionship... quite possibly our companionship.
Then there's COMPASSION. Everyone has something they're struggling with... even during the good times. None of us is without challenges of some type. It doesn't matter if the challenge is physical, psychological, emotional, financial, or in any other area of life. We can all use a little compassion to help us deal with the stuff life throws at us.
UNDERSTANDING is another great gift we can give year round. Human nature is often to judge, especially those who are different, but understanding will go a lot further in building good relationships and good people! I don't know many folks who want to be judged, but I sure know an awful lot who wish they could just be understood!
EMPATHY is a lovely gift to give one another. Empathy goes beyond understanding to actually feeling for another living being. It's being able to relate in a way as if we had gone through it ourselves. This doesn't mean we take on other people's pain, but we are able to understand it on a much deeper level and therefore offer a lot more love and compassion and a lot less judgment.
PATIENCE is a wonderful gift of the heart. In today's high speed society, patience is often a lost art form. Yet a little patience can go a very long way in smoothing over the rough edges, allowing others to get to where they need to be, and actually giving and receiving what we intended to. Patience allows us some breathing room and can be a healing balm to the soul whether we are on the giving or receiving end of it!
KINDNESS is a terrific gift to give at any time. It can be given to anyone and expressed in myriad ways. Kindness restores our faith in humanity and in the divine.
ACCEPTANCE is one of the greatest gifts of the heart. Who doesn't want to be accepted just as they are? Who doesn't want to be accepted as they change and grow and evolve into a better person? Accepting ourselves and one another releases a whole lot of pressure, eliminates judgment, and gives us all permission to be the individual God intended us to be, as well as permission to find out exactly who that is.
ENCOURAGEMENT is a gift that often gives back. When we encourage others it helps them to succeed and their success surely will make us happy for them. There's no shortage of criticism in the world, but encouragement is something of much greater value. It's what helps dreams come true. Encouragement can be the difference between someone's mere idea and that idea transforming into reality. So go ahead, give the gift of encouragement!
SUPPORT is another extremely valuable gift of the heart. There are times in life when we soar, and there are times when we struggle to get our feet off the ground; there are even times when we absolutely crash. Receiving support during all of these times can help us keep going in whatever direction we need to - including taking time to regroup and re-evaluate. Support is a gift of the heart worth more than gold to the one receiving it.
Then there's GRATITUDE. Sharing our gratitude for one another raises our frequency and theirs. It lifts us higher, fills us up, and validates our efforts and who we are. Gratitude is the kind of gift in which the more we give of it, the better we feel. It has no limit. So keep giving.
LOVE is perhaps the greatest gift of all. Love is precious. It is the very essence of our being. It's the stuff God made us from. When we openly love one another we allow the God energy to flow full on. Love heals hearts, soothes troubled minds, and literally works miracles. We could fret about the various types of love but there's no need to. . . the important part is to openly give and receive love. There is no greater gift of the heart.
No matter what the occasion, remember to give the gifts of the heart.

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

FAN THE INNER SPARK INTO A FLAME
How brightly does your Inner Light shine - right now? Recently? Most of the time? Are you infused with Spirit? Does your inner child get to come out and play often? Or does it feel like your embers are barely smoldering?
Fan the Inner Spark into a flame.
The other day it was quite chilly; I had lit a fire in the hearth and allowed the log to burn down into embers. I placed another log on top of the embers and left it there, hoping it would ignite. I took care of some business and came back to discover the new log was just as I had left it and the embers beneath it had completely gone out! In my busy-ness I didn't take the time to fan the embers into sparks so they could grow into a flame and light the log on top of them.
It caught my attention because I realized all living beings are a lot of like those logs... we need something to fan our Inner Spark so it can grow into a flame. When we are burned out, feeling used up, depleted, cold and left in the dark, we can't get very far. The only way we can Light our world again is to fan the embers which are left, to fuel ourselves until that Inner Spark becomes a flame!
I personally find those things which my inner child loves are some of the fastest ways to transform the spark into a flame... Playing is important! Especially playing without a purpose other than to play! Going to the beach, getting an ice-cream, reading the book Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, making cookies, hiking, playing with critters, doing anything creative, gazing at the sun, moon, stars, and clouds, walking through falling leaves, snow, or a flower garden, hanging out by a pond and listening to frogs and crickets, watching a funny movie, telling jokes or doing anything which makes me laugh all delight my inner kid and get the sparks flying! So does coloring, decorating, flying a kite, playing joyful music, and trying something new. Sometimes when our Inner Spark seems to have burned out, things which once fanned it into a flame before may no longer work and we might have to put forth a good bit of effort to discover a new form of inspiration to fuel us. During these times our energy is often lacking and so is our creativity which makes figuring out what will actually fan our Inner Spark quite a challenge. It is worth the effort. WE are worth the effort!
We are meant to sparkle and shine, to the Light the world around us with the flame of our Spirit. It's when we are on fire and infused with Spirit we feel the most inspired and are able to inspire others. Our energy, productivity and creativity increase, our health increases, our love of self, God and others increases, our relationships improve and often so do our finances. Life flows better because we ourselves are better.
So go ahead. Fan the Inner Spark into a flame!

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

IT'S NOT AS BAD AS IT SEEMS! (Usually)
How do you deal with changes or difficult situations which appear in your life? Do you move through them with grace and ease? Or do you assume the worst, panic and go into the "we're doomed" mode of thinking?
It's not as bad as it seems! (Usually.)
The human mind is a really interesting thing. It can be so positive that no obstacle in the world can stop us. Or it can be so negative, so pessimistic, that no blessing in the world can "save us" from the terrible outcome it fears is lurking just around the corner waiting to snatch us up in its horrific jaws!
That's why it's so important to be conscious of our thinking, feeling, and believing. We may not realize we've gone into the doomsday thinking because the mind is so powerful it filters everything through the perspective our thoughts and beliefs; we don't even know that we're seeing things from a fear-based perspective. We think we are seeing them as they are, when we are really seeing them as our thoughts and beliefs are!
Have you ever completely dreaded something would happen but it never came to pass? Did you ever feel like there would be no way possible to get through a certain experience, yet here you are today on the other side of it? Have you caught yourself expecting the worst instead of the best, and as my friend would say, "awful-i-zing" about the situation only to find it out it really wasn't that bad? If you have, you certainly are not alone!
We must keep in mind it usually is not as bad as it seems! Granted, there is some truly bad stuff that happens in the world, but most of what we go through, most of what we worry about, fixate on, and lose sleep over, IS NEVER AS BAD AS WE FEAR. When we realize this, we can remind ourselves not to believe everything our ego mind thinks! A lot of our negative thinking is simply a lie meant to scare us because the ego absolutely thrives on fear!
How do we stop ourselves from assuming things are bad, really bad? We become aware... aware of what we are thinking, feeling and believing. Should we catch ourselves assuming the worst, we state a really good best case scenario and look for as much evidence as possible to support it; the best case scenario doesn't have to be probable, just possible. We pray and have faith our prayers are being answered. We use mantras like "It's OK, God's working on it for me." We meditate or listen to guided meditations to change the frequency and quality of our energy and mindset. We connect with nature, God, friends and family who will help us see from a more positive perspective. (And perhaps avoid those who are more negative until we're in a better place ourselves.) And we do some brain drain journaling to get all that gunk out of our head and release the negative energy from our body!
Crucial to maintaining a more positive mindset, state of feeling, being and believing, is taking good care of ourselves. We must love ourselves and take time to give ourselves love. We also need to provide ourselves with a good night's sleep, exercise that is right for our body and mind, food which nourishes us but does not spike our blood sugar or affect our moods negatively, allow extra time to do what we need so we don't have to rush (or panic), engage daily in spiritual practices, and fill ourselves with nourishment for the soul which may include ingesting inspiring books, movies, T.V. shows, music, affirmations, or other tools which lift us up and help us shift focus to the positive.
When we are worn down, depleted, rushed, stressed, burned out, and our body chemistry is unstable, everything seems worse. The least little upset may seem catastrophic! Why put ourselves through that when a little (or a lot) of quality self-care can keep us stable, strong, anchored in faith and able to see the picture from a larger perspective?! And the habit of good self-care can also help us through when things really are that bad. So it's a win-win situation.
Most of all we need to keep reminding ourselves...
It's not as bad as it seems! (Usually.)

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

This Pondering is dedicated to all the earth angels in my life. You know who you are! J

NOT ALL ANGELS HAVE WINGS!
Do you believe in angels? How do you picture them? Would you know an angel if you encountered one?
Not all angels have wings!
I love the idea of celestial beings watching over us, there to lead us, guide us, help us and protect us from harm. I love seeing the images of angels with their golden halos, long flowing robes, and beautiful wings glowing in the divine energy of love. And I love knowing that every human being is gifted with guardian angels.
But I also love the angels which don't have wings! Even more importantly, I love that they walk among us. Talk among us. Are us.
Huh?
Every human being has an angelic heart and soul, filled with love for all living beings; many people even allow themselves to be guided through life by their divine heart and soul! You've met them. You know them by name. You've probably considered them a God send or your answered prayer. Or maybe even called them an angel.
Earth Angels are those people (and animals) who care - and show it. They show it with their words, their actions, their attitudes. They show it in a great big ways and teeny tiny ways. And if you ask them about it or point out their good deeds, they may think nothing of the work they do. It's just who they are.
They're the people who smile at you every day. They're the ones who give hugs, healing energy, helpful words of encouragement, a shoulder to lean on. They're the people you know will be there for you when you need them. And even the strangers who appear to deliver a much needed message out of the blue and disappear just as quickly.
Earth angels are the people who help you get in touch with your Divine Self again. They inspire you to be the best person you can be. They don't let fear get in their way. They do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. They give of themselves in whatever way they can.
Earth angels may be found at work, home, in schools, the mechanic's garage, government agencies, emergency services, the military, places of worship, hospitals, charities, out in the field or anywhere in between. They may be young, old, or middle aged. They come in every shape, size, ethnicity, and background. Some are there all the time and some appear only when needed. They are all important. They are all divine. They are all human - just like you and me.
Earth angels are special people, and they have a way of making everyone they encounter feel special.
Anyone can be an earth angel. In reality, we all are.
We just need to remember: not all angels have wings.

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN LITTLE WAYS
Do you take baby steps or wait until you're ready for the giant leap? How are you making a difference in the world today? Do you know what kind of impact you have on those around you?
Make a big difference in little ways.
Trouble is most humans have been conditioned to believe that you have to make it big to make it matter. There's a misconception that one must be rich and famous to change to change the world, that romantic gestures must be of blockbuster movie proportion, and that one must have a position of power and prestige to influence others in a positive way. Yet it's often the teeny tiny things we do on a daily basis which make the biggest impact.
What little things can you do to make a big difference?
 Smile at everyone you see.
Let others know you appreciate them.
Tell those you care about that you love them and are grateful for them.
 Kiss your Sweetie every day.
Leave love notes for your kids and significant others.
Play with pets and children every chance you get.
 Give plenty of praise.
 Listen attentively.
 Be there when needed.
Share what gives you joy - be it a cookie, an e-mail, a joke, a book, etc.
Go to the Greater Good Networks such as www.thehungersite.com and click every day.
Donate your spare change and clothing you no longer use to charity.
 Pray for those in need.
 Bless everyone you meet.
 Be generous with sincere compliments.
 Just be loving and kind.
 Look people in the eyes.
 Give lots of good hugs.
 Encourage people.
Point out the good things you notice about others.
Let loved ones know you believe in them and their dreams.
Take a baby step toward your dreams every day.
Human beings make a difference every day of our lives just by being true to who we are. There's no need to be rich, powerful, or famous to make the world a better place. It's better just because you are in it!
Do what you can with what you have. It's enough! It's more than enough. YOU are more than enough!
Remember: make a big difference in little ways!

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

WE GIVE OUT WHAT WE PUT IN
Are your days frantic or do they feel well balanced? Are you calm and joyful or tense and stressed most of the time? Are you aware of what you are giving out to others?
We give out what we put in!
We've all heard the saying 'what goes in must come out." But do we really understand the impact of what we put into ourselves and how it affects what we put out?
It easy to think of this in terms of food. If we put good, nutritious food into our body, our body will digest it, break it down, and effectively utilize it as a good source of energy for us to apply in whatever way needed, releasing what it can't use. But if we put toxins into our body, it takes much more energy and resources to digest it, and often times our body will need to release or store the excess of what it can't use. Think of the difference in how it feels to drink a glass of water compared to drinking a glass of soda. The body absorbs water quickly and easily. It sends it to our cells and utilizes it to remove other toxins. It replenishes us and creates good health. Soda, however, with its high fructose corn syrup, sugar or artificial sweeteners and caffeine drains our body because it is so toxic. It pulls out almost three times the amount of fluid imbibed in an attempt to neutralize the toxins and then release them as quickly as possible, with all those extra calories going both to waste and our waist! What else do we give out based on what we take in?
Thoughts, ideas, words and emotions!
When we surround ourselves with negative thinkers, participate in gossip, listen to people complaining, or subject ourselves to crazy making drama on TV, it wreaks havoc with our inner Self and sense of wellbeing. If we allow ourselves to be influenced by the negative, pretty soon we become negative and that's exactly what we give out to others! Most people are loving, caring, and quite generous. We want only the best for our loved ones, friends, pets, coworkers and others. If we're not careful, we may be giving them the very 'stuff" which drives us crazy as we complain, gossip, or talk about how dreadful things are. Instead of giving out love, we give out fear, criticism, and judgment! We certainly wouldn't want to wrap that up and give it as a gift for a special birthday or holiday. But are we giving it out in our daily lives?
Another thing we give out which may be quite subtle or actually very intense is energy. While people aren't always conscious of energy, it's the stuff we're made of. Everything in the universe has its own frequency, including us! If our words are positive but underneath we are seething, resentful or blaming another for some unhappy experience, we can count on that negative energy going out just as clearly as our words. When people receive these kind of mixed signals, it's often the energy which will override the experience because we are energetic beings. We will trust the energy we are feeling more than the words we hear.
While being aware of negative energy is crucial if we want to build positive relationships, consciously creating loving energy is even more important. We may say the words, 'I love you" without loving energy and those receiving them may or may not believe them. But if we send the energy of love with the words, 'I love you" they will be well-received. We can send the energy of love to someone without saying anything and they will know that they feel good around us, safe with us, and yes, loved.
In order to give out loving, joyful energy, we must first give it to ourselves. We must love ourselves, support ourselves, nurture ourselves. We must think positive thoughts, speak positive words, hold positive beliefs in the core of our being. When we feed ourselves in this way, we are able to share this feast of wellbeing with others naturally because the energy we give out will reflect what we are putting in. The feelings of being loved, accepted, encouraged and nurtured are exactly what we might want to wrap up in a box and give as a gift to those we care about. In order to do so we must gift them to ourselves first.
Remember: We give out what we put in.

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

IF GOD COULD TELL YOU JUST ONE THING,
IT WOULD BE, I LOVE YOU.
Are you tuned in to Divine Guidance? When you pray, do you listen for answers? Do you recognize when God is trying to get your attention?
If God could tell you just one thing, it would be, I LOVE YOU.
Those who hear Divine Guidance are given this message over and over. Not only for themselves, but for others they help on a personal and professional level. It's a simple message, yet profound. These three words are common, yet incredibly powerful. And hearing them come from God can change your life.
We all want to be loved. We want to be accepted for who we are. We want to know we're good enough. We spend a great deal of time and energy throughout our lives trying to receive this love and acceptance, and acknowledgment of our worthiness. Yet it is already ours.
If you sat down to have a conversation with God, and He could tell you just one thing, it would be I LOVE YOU.
He wouldn't chide you for not making straight A's in high school (or even B's and C's.) He wouldn't criticize you because you put on a few pounds in the past year. He wouldn't care if your hair wasn't parted perfectly straight or that your teeth might be a little crooked. God wouldn't condemn you for cutting off someone in traffic, knowingly or unknowingly. He wouldn't waste His time or yours bringing up all the mistakes in the past. Nope. None of that stuff would matter. God would only want to tell you one thing...
I LOVE YOU.
Not only would He want to tell you, but He would want you to experience His Love in every cell of your being.
You see, God tells us He loves us all the time but we block it out with our ego, doubts, fears and societal conditioning that we're not good enough. The truth is we ARE good enough. We're good enough because God already loves us! There's nothing we have to do, prove or pray for.
God simply loves us. All we need do is accept His Love.
The funny thing is when we accept God's love for us, we begin to accept our own love of Self without feeling guilty or falsely conceited. Because Love is merely God's energy flowing through us. We can direct it to ourselves at any given moment.
When we accept God's love and our own love for our Self, we more easily accept the Love others willingly and freely give to us all the time. We realize the love and acceptance we've been seeking has always been there; it was merely up to us to receive it and believe it.
So open up. Receive it. Believe it. Know it in your heart.
If God could tell you just one thing, it would be, I LOVE YOU.

Sir Froggie's Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

ADOPT A SAFETY NET OF FAITH
What do you rely on to keep you going? Are you courageous enough to try new things? What helps you overcome your fears?
Adopt a Safety Net of Faith.
All of us have "safety nets" of some type. And they're not just money in the bank or the type used in circus acts to protect performers from plunging to the ground. Yet those people and things which are our safety nets may help keep us from taking a hard fall. When a tightrope walker or trapeze artist performs, they must concentrate on what they are doing and be present in the moment in a very profound way. They cannot lose focus for one moment or the consequences could be disastrous. That's where safety nets come in handy. Knowing the nets are there helps take away the fear of making a serious mistake. They train, they perform death-defying stunts, all the while knowing there's a net below them that will catch them if they fall. Because the net is there, they can focus better on what they are doing instead of getting lost in fear. With the safety net there, they never have to think about it. If it were missing it would be on their mind at all times. As human beings, we tend to adopt other people as our safety nets. Parents are often our first safety net. There's a bond formed with our parents at birth which lasts a lifetime. No matter what's going on in our lives, we know our parents are there for us. As adults we may vow never to rely on them but there's a sense of safety and security in knowing they are there if needed. Our parents would never let us starve, never let us become homeless, never allow us to be in a situation which could cause harm if they can help it. Our parents will always love us. We may not always agree with our parents but knowing they are there helps us let go of fears of venturing out on our own and becoming autonomous.
Our significant other may also become a safety net. Their love, support, and encouragement can help us feel like we can accomplish anything! Knowing we are loved, knowing we have a partner to come home to, knowing we have someone who believes in us and lifts us up can help us empower ourselves to feel like we can take on the world - or at least our little corner of it.
If we don't have a significant other, our safety net may be a beloved pet. Our fuzzy friends give us unconditional love. They are there for us every day. They adore us regardless of whether we are at our best or worst. They forgive us and forget our mistakes. They look to us to connect heart to heart and to interact in way that is steeped solely in love. No matter what, our beloved pets keep us company and keep us sane.
We may have other people who play a significant role in our lives who are our safety nets. They encourage us, respect us, believe in us; they are there for us. And this is all something to give thanks for.
But what happens when those people we count on to be there for us aren't? Suddenly, like the tightrope walker or trapeze artist who performs without a net, the world becomes a lot scarier. Our fears may get triggered in a way that's larger than life. Instead of feeling invincible, we may become overwhelmed with fear, never even realizing how much we had relied on others until they are no longer there.
That's why it's important to have faith in a higher power as one of our "safety nets." Because human life can be fragile. People may become ill, relationships may change, and things can fall apart when least expected. We still have to be able to pick ourselves up should we fall. With God as our primary safety net, our faith is in something omnipresent, omnipotent, available through eternity. All we need is faith and an open heart and mind to listen to the guidance provided by the Divine. Our faith itself acts as a safety net that we put in place; it is not reliant on other people. Should relationships or circumstances change, our safety net can remain in place because it is not dependent on any one person, place or thing. It comes from a feeling within that is connected to the Creator of All That Is, and this feeling, this faith, can even invoke miracles! It is not limited to human thinking or conditioning. It is unlimited in size and scope. It was there in the past, it is here in the present and it will always be there in the future. So while we give great thanks for the people who have acted as our "safety nets" in life, our security is not limited to their well-being. It goes far beyond any living being.
Adopt a safety net of faith.

Sir Froggie's
Pondering
Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern
Day World

LUXURIATE IN LIFE'S
LITTLE MOMENTS

How busy are you from day to day, hour to hour,
moment to moment? Do you get to enjoy the fruit of your labor? Do you stop and smell the roses -
literally?

Luxuriate in life's little moments.

With all of our modern technology, what was once
considered a "convenience" has become an expected necessity. Devices such as computers, cell phones,
e-mail, etc., which were supposed to give us more time have come to demand all
of our time. There's an expectation
we must be plugged in, turned on, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Instead of relieving the work load,
more demands are put on our time and brain power; multi-tasking is no longer an
option but a requirement.

Just like electrical gadgets which can get
"fried" when overused, we too can burn out. Unless we slow down. Pause. Breathe... Take time to
enjoy a job well done before moving on to the next; set limits and boundaries
which keep us healthy and happy; and really become present, aware and grateful
for the gifts life offers us every day.

Even in our busiest, most stressed out times,
life offers us something to be grateful for if we're open to it.

Have you ever been lost in thought about your
to-do list, how to pay the bills, or something else which had you upset, only to
be interrupted by something which made you smile, laugh, or feel really good in
that moment? Maybe it was a
butterfly flittering by your window. Or your dog jumping up on your lap, asking to be pet. Perhaps it was your significant other
giving you a peck on the cheek and a smile that says, "I love you." It could have been a beam of sunshine
breaking through the clouds. The scent of fresh coffee brewing or bread baking from the grocery
store on the corner. The
sound of the wind whispering a lullaby as it brushes through the leaves. Children laughing and
playing. A
favorite song reminding you of someone special or a treasured memory. A wave hello from a
neighbor or coworker. A quick
message from a friend saying they're thinking of you. Morning
dew on a glorious rose. The sound of raindrops hitting the pavement and the sweet scent of
the moist air.

Life has so many little gifts every moment of the
day that can touch our soul, warm our heart, bring a smile to our face, and calm
our overly busy mind. All we need to
do is take notice and allow ourselves to enjoy the preciousness of the
experience instead of rushing on to our next task or thing worry about. So slow down. Pause. Look. Listen. Breathe...Tune into your surroundings...

And luxuriate in life's little moments.

SFPNN Special Edition: Friday, October 12th, 2012
My Feet Are Off The Ground
By Tyler Perry, Writer and Actor
This morning I awoke and was so frustrated about all of the stuff that I'm dealing with in trying to get this studio open. I was about to open my mouth and start complaining when I remembered something that happened to me a year ago.
I was walking to my car when this woman who appeared to be homeless started walking towards me. I'm ashamed to say this but I thought, 'I don't feel like being hustled today..' Then I got quickly convicted. I felt guilty so I started digging in my pocket for some money. As she got closer I noticed that she had the kindest eyes that I had ever seen. As I was reaching into my pocket she started to speak. I thought, 'Here goes the sales pitch'.
She said, 'Excuse me Sir, I need some shoes. Can you help me?' My eyes filled with water because I remember being out on the streets and having only one pair of run over shoes. I was taken aback for a second.
I took her inside the studio and had my wardrobe people find shoes in her size. As she put the shoes on she started crying, praising God and thanking Jesus, and saying, 'My feet are off the ground! My feet are off the ground!' Several of the wardrobe people started crying. I was crying. But I never forgot those words. 'My feet are off the ground!' I thought, 'Wow! All she wanted was some shoes.'
She quickly disappeared and never asked me for a dime. I realized that I still had the money in my hand so I went out looking for her. She was gone just that quick so I looked all around the neighborhood for her. I found her standing on a corner looking down at her shoes, still crying. I was so touched. I asked her how she had gotten homeless.
She told me that she had AIDS and that she was waiting to get into a shelter. She said that her family had turned their backs on her and that she had no place to go, but she knew that God would make a way for her. I said to myself, 'He just did.' Her faith and her praise moved me. I took her to a nearby hotel and put her up until she was able to get on her feet I had someone that worked for me to check on her from time to time and to make sure that she had food and clothes. After about a month or so we lost touch, but I never forgot her.
A few years back, while I was shooting 'Daddy's Little Girls,' this woman walked up to me smiling. I didn't recognize her face, but her eyes were familiar. She had on a really nice dress and her hair was done. It was her! She told me that the little help that I had given her had changed her life. She was in a house now and doing very well. I said all of that to say this... After I met this woman, every time I think about complaining and mumbling I remember, 'My feet are off the ground!'
I wanted to share this with you just to let you know that when I say that I am thankful for you, I mean it. And when I say that you are a blessing to me, I mean it. We take so much for granted sometimes that I just wanted all of you to know that I am grateful to God for you every day.
Thank you for being in my life.
