A friend of mine wrote a book called Feel Good Thoughts - one of those ones that you sit on your desk and flip once in a while to another thought - about a month ago I flipped it and it said "Lift your spirit...spend some time in nature."  I told Mark that was a sign I was to get out and explore land - I was worried if I waited much longer I would miss seeing spring in the desert - and there is no way I wanted to miss that!!! You can check out my friends book at: Feel Good Thoughts.

It has been a long winter and a cold spring in the pacific northwest and I have been checking the weather in multiple areas for the past few months hoping for a chance to get out and see what we've purchased over the past winter - things get bought and sold whether or not we have a chance to look but I always prefer to look - that's the fun part of my job and I wouldn't give it up for the world! We set out to view some properties we purchased up in Klamath County Oregon - we hit snow over the pass and it was snowing the day I was out exploring land as well - it was still cold!!

From there we journeyed down to Winnemucca Nevada where there was plenty of snow in the mountains. From there it was over to Elko County where we spent two days exploring land on the east side of the county.  The mountains in Nevada had lots of snow in them and the Rubies were amazing! The reeds along the Humboldt River were beautiful and I was pleased to find that I had not missed spring in the high desert!   It seems that while we were gone Derek sold some of the parcels we looked at but there are still a few more we viewed.  View This Listing for 10 Acres in Northeastern Nevada

From there we crossed over the Great Salt Lake and headed over to Colorful Colorado to the San Luis Valley in the Rocky Mountains. We viewed some fabulous pieces of land near Fort Garland and San Luis. Blanca Peak and Trinchera Peak, two beautiful mountain peaks in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range, were loaded with snow and offered some incredible views to these properties! We saw lots of farming going on and I saw my fourth wild herd of horses ever just west of the town of San Luis! View This Property near the Wild Horses in Colorado

Then we headed down to the greater Albuquerque area to look at land in Rio Rancho, Moriarty and Belen. Things in Rio Rancho are still hopping and I saw lots of new buildings and dirt being moved! A couple of the lots we own have a new development in the next block and I was thrilled to see how close to the growth some of our properties are! There is continued building going on around the new City Center.  And the wildflowers that were blooming in Rio Rancho were so pretty - one of the first places I ever saw wild desert flowers blooming and I was once again thrilled to see them! It was a sunny day with the wind blowing and I was thrilled to be out in the desert taking pictures until sunset! We sure saw a lot of beautiful land, animals, and flowers! And then there was the stop at Clines Corner out by Moriarty where I saw two cowboys dressed in their spurs - real cowboys with dusty hats and wranglers  :  )  I mentioned to the waitress that I sure wish I had my camera as that was the first time I've seen cowboys in a restaurant in their spurs - well she hooked me up! : ) They were good sports and let me take their pictures with them showing their spurs! Like I said my job doesn't get any better!

We then jumped over to Arizona and looked at a fabulous chunk of land by the Petrified Wood Forest near Holbrook where we spent a few minutes gathering some little pieces of petrified wood and a couple of arrow heads!!! I never thought picking up rocks could be so much fun but the wind was blowing on a hot sunny afternoon and it was such a beautiful setting overlooking the town of Woodruff - I am sure this piece won't last long - I've never owned such a cool piece out there!

We then jumped back over to the Belen area and checked out a few pieces just east of the Rio Grande River in Socorro County. The river was very full and the Bosque was a super rich green along the river offering some great views in the distance from some of the lots we own in the Rio Grande Estates. There were a couple that had power along the road as well so if you're looking for a cheap acre keep your eyes open for those!

It was a beautiful time of year to make our first land exploration trip and I wasn't too late to catch spring - in fact I was a little ahead of it in some places but by the time I headed for home two weeks later it was in bloom! I did catch a snow storm coming home over the Cascade Mountain Pass and I was again reminded what a cold spring it has been here but indeed some spots have warmed up and spring is in full bloom!

We have listed a few of these properties and will be listing more over the next few weeks. I hope that the beautiful pictures I brought back of nature in her springtime lifts your sprits as well!

Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )
