Wow does it take a commitment to keep up with a newsletter! : ) I write a lot of things as I go along and some of them I would never consider putting out there - people would think I am nuts and the truth would be known! Haha! But this month I have included something extra that I stopped and took a moment to write about below.
So what's new at Smile4u? We welcome Kristy Wind to our group. Kristy will be assisting Derek with the document processing and land contracts. This is a busy desk and it will take a while to get her up to speed but you can expect to hear from her soon! Derek started singing the Bette Midler song...you are the wind beneath my wings - this girl has her work cut out for her! We welcome Kristy to Smile4u!
So what's coming in the door that people are already waiting for?
We have purchased a few more lots in Pine Meadows Ranches - Cibola County, NM. Our first one, 2.49 acres, just made it into inventory! Check the link above for more details on this beautiful property.
Something you might have seen on the website lately is our "Smokin' Deals". These are properties that I got an unusually heck of a bargain on myself and am passing along the additional savings to you! I have put several up over the past month and they have been snatched up quickly! I see we have a few remaining.
2.91 Acres in Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri!
We quickly sold out of the 5 & 7 acre lots in Southern Colorado in the San Luis Valley but we have a few more available now and this one is definitely a Smokin' Deal!
And now for one of my thoughts I wrote after a conversation on the phone with a gentleman on July 2, 2009. It turned out that August 2009 was the deadliest month of the eight-year war for U.S. forces. Even more reason why I am compelled to share my story.
I am such a sap when it comes to our soldiers and I try and take a moment to thank every soldier I speak to for their service. Whether it be by email or by phone I want to let them know just how much their service means to me.
When I signed up at one of the social networking sites it asked me who was my hero - only one I could think of was my nephew who had just got back from a year over in Iraq. I prayed for him every day and every time I saw on TV that another soldier was killed I was reminded again to pray for all of them, not just my nephew. And now he is home safe but there are others over there that I know - ones I still pray for and don't forget about. Maybe it's a friends kid or someone I meet along the way that mentions their family is there - I can't help but get a big lump in my throat when I say thank you because I really am saying in my heart that I am so grateful that they have volunteered to lose their life for our country.
Today I had a conversation with an older man who told me how he had been spit on at the airport when he came home from Vietnam. I thanked him for his service and told him I am so sorry to hear that. He said he thought that the generation who did it had learned from it and really felt remorse for what they had done then. We discussed a news story the other day where a church is protesting at the funerals of soldiers. Whether or not these protests are legal I am left shaking my head thinking wow ...have some compassion...the same person being laid to rest is the same person making sure you have the right to be heard in a court of law - and that's the thanks!!!???
If you don't already, please take the time to thank our soldiers - no matter how dorky it might sound or how hard it might be to say it - you will hear it in their voices and see it in their emails how much they appreciate hearing those words. I am glad that when I see a soldier in an airport today that I see people shaking their hands, saluting them, big smiles on faces looking at them knowing that there in front of them stands the bravest person they know, a true hero, an American soldier.
Sincerely,
Char the Explorer : )
