She was one of my favorite female role models, albeit a super heroine. In my eyes, she was a super powerful woman. Plus, the version I loved was played by Lynda Carter, who has latina roots like me. When I myself became a woman, I learned that Wonder Woman was fashioned from the Goddess Diana, whom has become another one of my archetypal heroines. Today, I was reminded of her during an inspired intuitive moment, while getting ready to prepare this note for you on Woman's Day. Excited, I took a moment to do some research on this archetypal Heroine. Below are a few powerful and captivating facets, which were the inspiration to the character of Wonder Women. The story goes that Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) is one of the most powerful Amazon women. Created by Aphrodite, they were beautiful, ageless and possessed great strength, agility and intelligence. She stood for their ideals of love, peace and sexual equality. Molded from clay by the Queens of the Amazon Women, Diana Prince, Wonder Woman, is actually represents the Goddess Diana, Diana is destined to become beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, stronger than Hercules , and swifter than Mercury. She received her powers and fortunately blessed by other Goddesses, Diana is granted gifts as follows: Strength drawn from Gaia by Demeter, who reigns over fertility and agriculture Great beauty and a loving heart by Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty Great wisdom by Athena, Goddess of War and Wisdom Graced with the eyes of the hunter and unity with animals by Artemis, Goddess of the hunt, animals and the Moon Control of the Fires of Truth through its sisterhood, which helps men [women] open their hearts' to her by Hestia, Goddess of Hearth and Home, to Superhuman speed and flight by Hermes, God of speed. A few other noteworthy features elucidate her feminine character, which I've personally connected to in learning more of Wonder Woman's legend. * She was able to relieve her body of physical injury and toxins through communing with earth through sacred rituals. * She gained access to the Violet Ring of Love, which among other things, allowed her to help reveal a person's true love to them. * In one of her versions, to regain her powers on earth, she becomes a mod boutique owner and acquires a Chinese Mentor named I Ching. Under his guidance, she embodies ancient wisdom, learns valuable skills and engages is wonderful adventures. (Hmm, coincidence... I think not! ; ) I am sharing with you her mythology with intention to spark your own inner Wonder Woman. As women, we all have her spirit inside of us and are made in the likes of her. So in honor of International Woman's Day, take the time to celebrate you by being that Wonder Woman that you are and expressing your super-powers today and always. In modern times, today symbolizes a day for lovers to honor their love for each other with poetry and gifts, such as flowers, chocolates and the like -- expressing their love and their appreciation with romance and declarations. More recently, Valentine's Day expanded to include showing affection and appreciation to all of your loved ones, family and friends, not only romantic partners. Except, of course, in grade school, you would shower everyone with candy and cute little heart-shaped cards... saving the special card for that extra-special, secret person. Less common yet notable, an attitude has spread stemming from a certain kind of anti-love or anti-relationship, filled with irritation and indignation about the whole concept. This reaction to what today represents comes from those who feel resentful for not having love, are not in love, possibly have been hurt by a loved one or even have guilt about not being in a relationship. This is not a judgement but an observation of the true, underlying need -- self-love. Self-love is the true richness and foundation of love and valuing the self that naturally flows into loving others and back again. Appreciation, acknowledgement and gratitude flourishes from that wellspring of self-love. The power of presence will help guide love to where you place your attention. Send it throughout your body, send it to your thoughts, send it to your word and send it out into your situations.
