Dear ,
Social media etiquette. The lack of it drives us all nuts, and yet we see it all the time. Why is this?
Is it because direct sellers know just enough to be dangerous? They know how to post on online tools, but are oblivious to the manners that go along with them?
To be quite honest, it's not that hard. Just think about what you'd do in a real-life situation. You wouldn't walk through Times Square with a bullhorn shouting about your opportunity (hat tip to Xango.) You'd ask about someone else, be helpful, be interesting. The same goes for social tools.
It's up to companies and individual direct sellers to make sure that people understand that social tools still require basic manners. And that means training, policy, and calling people out when they violate certain rules. Check out some of my Recent Posts in the sidebar of this email for some of these rules. You can also access my free Social Media 101 course, which includes a handout you can copy and share with your team, that discusses social media etiquette. There's a link for this at the bottom of this newsletter.
The reputation of your company, as well as the industry as a whole, is at stake. What will you do to make sure your team demonstrates social media etiquette?
Here's to your great success!

Pay it Forward Wednesday

I've recently started something on my Facebook Page, and I want you to know about it because I hope you'll join us.
It's called "Pay it Forward Wednesday" and it's quite simple. You just choose someone who has made a difference in your life or your business, and acknowledge them publicly on your Facebook profile, so your friends can check them out.
When you type the @ sign before typing their name on Facebook, it "tags" them. This means their name becomes a clickable link. When you tag them, your post shows up on their wall, and their friends can see that you've acknowledged them.
So your post might say something like:
"It's Pay-it-Forward-Wednesday! Pick someone who has made a difference in your life or business, and @ tag them on YOUR wall! Today my pick is Jane Deuber. Jane is an amazing person who is incredible at helping direct sellers develop leadership skills. Who will you tag today?"
Writing it like this encourages others to jump in and Pay it Forward too. It helps all of us find new great people, and it makes the people you tag feel great too. We can start a love revolution on Wednesdays! I hope you'll join us. Just go and tag someone on your Facebook Profile this and every Wednesday. Pay it Forward!
