Hi, !
Well I've been away a while. Not physically, but definitely mentally. I think I have just been truly, bottom of the well - tired. But I'm starting to feel like I'm getting my groove back, so here I am. My apologies about my absence.
So where are we at Some Kind Of Bliss?

Drenched Home Collection
Well - for starters, I have the new Drenched tins. How exciting!!! The fragrances and designs are gorgeous. Click here to view and order!

I'm also working on our ranges of hampers for the year. I would really appreciate your feedback here. What should the price points be? I'm thinking $47, $97 and $147.

Milkweed Range
Earlier this year I went to the AGHA Sydney Gift Fair and I tell you, I am still stocking the best Australian made product there is. It was funny, I approached another supplier of similar products and was told that because I was an online store, and therefore could not stock the whole 'story' in the manner they liked, that I couldn't order anything. What a crazy attitude, so it's Dickens and Hawthorne products for me. They launched their new 'Milkweed' range at the fair, and it is fabulous, so I can't wait for you to try them! Click here to view and order!

SPECIAL OFFER: Sample Packs
The next thing I will have on offer at Some Kind Of Bliss is a fragrance sampler pack. After lots of emails during the year about, what is the best fragrance, I thought - how can I help people choose a scent? The issue is that fragrance is just so personal, what I love, may not be what Mrs Jones in New Farm likes. Well the problem is now solved. You can order a fragrance sampler, and then choose 5 different fragrances. You get the lots for $25 plus delivery. Each one is a mini diffusion stick and would last about a month, depending on room conditions. Then after trying them all, you will know which one you love. I've tried sending out sample cards to people, but I just don't think it's the same.
Click here to order and specify which fragrances you would like in your order instructions.

There is only one success.....
Do you like the new cards I am sending with orders? They are printed by Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, which is a wonderful organisation working with disabled artists all over the world. If you are ever in need of a card, I suggest you check them out: www.MFPA.com.au.
I've stopped adding the little quote card, as I was finding that I just kept wanting to keep them!!!! The quote I have now chosen for the printed card is an absolute favourite of mine. There is only one success..... I just love it. Too many of us live our lives following the path of someone else, not our own.

I've recently contributed to a book that was organised by the fabulous Janet Beckers from Wonderful Web Women. It was launched for the 100th year anniversary of Women's Day. It's called 'The Power of 100' and you can grab your copy here.
Here is just snippet of what I wrote:
Focus is a funny thing, easy for some and hard for others. It's a natural state some days and yet on other days, focus is the hardest thing in the world to hold on to. Why is this? Why can't focus be like bike riding, reading or swimming? Something that is there always, part of our natural make up and able to be called on at anytime.
Another thing you will have noticed is some pricing changes. Don't panic. We have actually reduced some prices!!!!!
Please keep in touch with me online via Twitter or Facebook, and I promise to get the newsletter out earlier next time.
You can also catch up with me and my other project - ME at www.StrippingBackTheLayers.com which is about my weight loss battle.
Ciao,
Sam

Merry Christmas to you, !

Christmas Opening Times

SPECIAL OFFER: Free Shipping on all Xmas orders!

The meaning of Christmas to me

We are also now accepting Bartercard - just send us an email for details.

Merry Christmas to you, !
This will be a short and sweet newsletter, for a couple of reasons. One being that if you have purchased off me at any stage you will get a Christmas Card in the mail shortly. If you've ordered in the last few weeks, you will have already got yours. The second reason being that at this time of the year we are all so busy, our inboxes are full with Christmas wishes and we usually have something more important to do than get distracted online.
So what have I been up to? Well if you head over to Facebook and like Some Kind Of Bliss you will see the photos. I've been in the midst of Operation Hamper. Honestly, I am so grateful for all the work, but I'm secretly hoping that next year people order things a little earlier. My office if strewn with leftovers - and spare chocolate and champagne don't last very long around me, which is a little bit of a problem. The problem being, I have lots of Will Power, it's Won't Power that is lacking.
I am closing over the Christmas break, so please don't get cranky with me if it takes a few days to answer emails or anything. I will be away from Sydney at my mums, and the broadband is anything but broad if you know what I mean.
I truly hope you and your family have an amazing Christmas Day, however you spend it and that you and your loved ones have a fantastic 2011.

Christmas Opening Times
Some Kind Of Bliss will close on Thursday 23rd of December and be back in business on the 4th of January, so everything will be back to normal (not Christmas chaos) then.
If you need any last minute orders I would say that Monday the 20th of December at 12pm would be the last time to order if you wanted delivery before the big day.

SPECIAL OFFER: Free Shipping

Use our special offer when ordering any of the Christmas Gifts for your loved ones. Whether it's a selection of goodies or a fabulous gift hamper - we can gift wrap it and ship it for free, directly to you or the recipient. Just enter this code at the checkout: XMAS10 to claim before the end of the year.

The meaning of Christmas to me
I wanted to add an article here or say something profound about the Meaning of Christmas. Well I Googled it (as you do) and was met with About 48,400,000 results (0.10 seconds). Needless to say, I dug myself in deeper and came up with so much info that I could come up with little to write.
So what is the meaning of Christmas to me?
Well it's the celebration of our wonderful lives. We get stressed and tired and cranky etc, but really the truth is that in the Western world we are truly blessed. Most of us live incredibly abundant lives and take so much for granted. At Christmas, I try to recognise this, be grateful and pass this knowledge on to my daughter. It's a time for getting together with loved ones, forgetting about any dramas you may have had during the year and showing them that you do care. And yes, it's about eating far too much and forgetting the phrase 'less food in and more energy out'.
This year I will take me daughter to a kids service at a church near us on Christmas Eve, as although I wouldn't consider myself a practicing Christian, I believe she should be exposed to it, so she can make up her own mind. She is very excited as we are going with a friend of hers. They even spoke on the phone tonight to coordinate what they are going to wear - can I remind you she is 5. I am in so much trouble when she is a teenager.
Next year will be a big year for my businesses so please keep an eye out - Facebook is great for this.
As for me, I'm off to wrap more presents, make my mince pies, pudding and cake and then maybe, just maybe, slow for a minute and enjoy this wonderful time of year....or I could just watch more Nigella Christmas and dream of gluhwein.
Please enjoy one of my favourite Christmas tracks of all time, and I'll see you next year. The singing doesn't start till about 1 min 50 sec, but it's a great scene so if you can watch it. Click here to watch online.

A Christmas candle is a lovely thing; It makes no noise at all, But softly gives itself away; While quite unselfish, it grows small. -- Eva K. Logue

Merry Christmas to you, !
I love Christmas, cause I'm a really big dag about it. I colour coordinate my wrapping to my tree to my lounge room etc etc. Some may say I'm a little OCD (no disrespect intended to anyone that does suffer from the disorder), I just like things, well - neat and matching. I think I may have mentioned that in a previous newsletter or post, but I don't really see the point in going back to check... so sorry if I'm repeating myself.
It started to really feel like Christmas when we toddled on down to the lighting of the tree in Martin Place last week. My gorgeous daughter Elodie was all dressed like a Christmas Fairy and she danced and danced and danced. We were interviewed by a Japanese TV show (well I think that's who they were), we laughed at the police wearing reindeer antlers and we sang Christmas carols all the way home. Now I'm in the mood.
Do you know what else is making me in the mood, ? I've started burning the Celebrate Xmas Spice Candles mmmmmm. It's just like a spicy pudding without the calories or the brandy butter!
It makes me think of a couple of days I spent in San Francisco a couple of years ago. Those great Xmas displays and shopping. One thing the Americans do really really well is retail merchandising for the 'holiday season'. All you have to do is go to www.flickr.com and search for Xmas shopping or Christmas shop etc - there are some great pictures. Here are a couple of shots I took in Las Vegas during that trip - one week all by myself in Vegas doing nothing but shopping and looking at shows... heaven.
Anyway, back to business I guess.

Christmas Gifts Ideas
Have you done all your shopping yet? I've done all the kids and 1 adult present, so I better get my act together. To help you, Some Kind Of Bliss are doing Gift Vouchers, they look really cute and would be a great addition to a Christmas present to anyone. You can set the price, and we'll even send the voucher out to you or the recipient.
If you get a chance have a look online about Christmas all around the world - it's amazing what the differences are. A while a go I decided that it would be great to take my daughter somewhere different for Xmas every year so she could get to see how different cultures celebrated. I even did a list (me and my lists)....the list ended with New York when she was 21! What an amazing place it would be to celebrate the festive season, and even better when you are 21 and can get in anywhere licensed.
Look I've drifted off again - this isn't much of a structured newsletter :)
We also have some great gift sets this Xmas. I'll be adding more as the days go on to this section, so keep your eyes open. The new Aroma Home Mini Gift Sets are so cute and a great price. The Lemongrass and Grapefruit is in my kitchen as we speak... such a great scent for Summer and the mini size means they are great for an ensuite, or for the dinner table.

Preparing for Christmas
If you haven't been reading the Some Kind Of Bliss Blog - please go on over and have a look. I did a recent post with a great little sheet I use for my Xmas shopping - try it out.
Anyway, I know this is only a short newsletter, but hey, I've added a song to get you in the mood. It's a little old, and could probably be called a little silly, but I like it - so I hope you enjoy it also.
***********************************************
Ciao for now - I'm off to finish writing all the Christmas cards to every Some Kind Of Bliss customer past and present.

Hi ,
Changes at Some Kind Of Bliss!
Well guys and gals, a lot has happened here, since the last newsletter. Some Kind Of Bliss no longer has a retail shop. Yeah!!! The reality is that the shopping area of Alexandria has changed so much during the last two years, and it was not a viable option.
To give you a bit of history, when I signed the 3 year lease it was when shopping traffic on that strip was busy busy busy. A month after I signed the GFC struck and it got a lot quieter. Then the friend I started the business with moved to the other side of the country - this left me really stuck as he was meant to be in the shop. So for the last 18months, I have worked full time, been a single mother to my gorgeous daughter, run the retail shop and tried to grow my online business - arghghhg. Something had to give. In that 18 months I have been sick more times than you can imagine (including pneumonia and shingles), put on weight, have not spent enough time with my daughter, friends or on myself and gotten further and further into debt. It didn't help when the 2 shops next to me, moved out last year leaving a big empty space where people used to be.
Please understand that this is not an effort to get your sympathy, it's simply a true account of where I am. I had been trying since January this year to find someone to take over my lease as the owner would not release me - in fact I was told he would sue the socks off me if I tried to leave. The only other option was to go bankrupt, which was not an option for me. So I hung in there and finally at the end of September found someone to take over the lease. It cost me a fortune (over 4 month rent prepaid for them - $13k plus), but it really is a weight off my mind. I had to move out in 3 days which was a huge job, but worth it. I am now open in a factory around the corner (just to make the most of the Xmas Shopping Tours etc) till Dec 29th - weekends only.
Then I get to concentrate my energy on the online side, which has been steadily growing and on my daughter and I. She has just turned 5 and I feel so much guilt about the days missed with her while I was working. I can't take it back, but I can make sure that working on the weekend is a business non-negotiable for the future!!!!
Coming up you will see changes to the Some Kind Of Bliss site, including using Westpac as our credit card merchant, and one price shipping. You will also be introduced to the other things I have going on online.

NEW PHOTOS
You will notice over the next couple of weeks that more photos are added to the website. Yes, I have finally gotten all of these done. I've also set up a little photo area so I can add photos of any gift sets we do for you to look at.

Deciding what goals to set.
By Samantha Leith from My Goal Friend.
So how do you know what kinds of goals you want to set? Well, you have to real know yourself before you can set goals that are true to you.....unless you are like I have been and that is stuck in the getting to know yourself. If you aren't 100% sure that a goal you are setting is true to your values, beliefs and destiny, you may need to go back to the 'getting to know you' phase. I would recommend having a look at yourself on this level every so often anyway.

What makes you happy?
If you knew you couldn't fail, what would you do?
If you knew you could get it, what would you have?
If you knew it was possible, where would you live?
Who do you like spending time with?
What do you like / dislike about your job or business?
What do you like to do to relax?
These are just a selection of the questions that you should ask yourself before defying your goals.
For example, if you love relaxing by the ocean, it would make more sense to have a goal or living near there ocean, not a fancy high rise apartment just because it's a current trend.
Another great exercise to do, is work out what the current balance is in your life, and work out how you would like it to look.
We are going to look at 7 core areas of your life.

Health and fitness
Business / career
Relationships
Finance
Spiritual and Mental Wellbeing
Contribution
Fun stuff
You may find some goals can go in more than 1 category eg bike riding (health and fitness plus fun stuff). In these instances I would put the goal in the area that will be more beneficial to you life. In my circumstances bike riding for fitness is probably of greater benefit than bike riding for fun.
A few years ago, a woman suggested to me that if you really wanted to go for a goal, it would be a good idea to write out your 52 reasons for achieving that goal. Can I tell you, it is a very hard exercise, but one that is really worthwhile. I wouldn't do it for every goal you set - but I would certainly do it for the more audacious goals on your list. It really helps separate the 'maybe goals' from the 'really care goals'. For example, I have 52 reasons for wanting to achieve my health and fitness goals, but there is no way I could come up with 52 reasons for wanting the new Audi SUV!!!!! It's not that there is anything wrong with having a new car as a goal, but for me it's not going to change my life dramatically. My current car is great.
What are your 52 reasons for your major goals? Challenge yourself to write them out, for at least 1 goal, and if you're up for it, send it in to us. Put the reasons out there in the universe and they are more likely to eventuate.

NEW PRODUCTS
In November this year. Dickens and Hawthorne Australia will be launching their new Drenched packaging, and the Purity Lavender range. I am so excited about these. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new packaging (here is a sneak peak), and I'm always getting asked about Lavender products - so now we will have more.
Have a great month everyone, and please don't forget to connect with me on Facebook and Twitter.
Ciao

Hi ,
I hope you are well.
Can you feel that buzz in the air? Do you have that extra spring in your step? Are you finding it easier to wake up? I know I'm experiencing all these things...why....because it's SPRING, the glorious season where life starts to take on some colour again. I don't know about you, , but I definitely suffer from Winteritis, and I come out of the fog when Spring hits.
There is so much to do in Spring. Starting with your Spring Cleaning. Now is the time to clear out those cupboards, under the beds and have a 'huck out' of the pantry. I've been doing this over the last few days, partly as it's the Spring thing to do, and partly because we have someone moving into our house. I had NO idea I had so much crap under that spare bed.
I've been doing this like putting all my cd's onto my itunes, with back up on an external drive and all songs on an ipod. 55 days so far of music - and still more to go. On the plus side, are these spare drawers I now have.
Anyway, enough rambling. Here are a couple of hints I have put together for your Spring.
Have a great September.
Sam

SAM'S SPRING SUGGESTIONS

Open all doors and windows at every available opportunity to get in some fresh air.
Hang all the heavy winter linen, doonas, pillows etc on the line for a few hours for a bit of a refresh.
Empty all of the 'crap' drawers (you know the ones I am talking about - especially in the kitchen) into boxes. When you need an item take it out and put it back in the drawer. If in 1 year (I allow for all seasons to come and go again) it's still in the box - throw it out or donate it.
Have a 'try on' evening at home. If your clothes don't fit, get rid of them. If you are on a fitness road and they may soon fit, store them somewhere, and keep one item visible as a motivator. Again - throw out or donate.
The other thing to do with the wardrobe is turn all the hangers the wrong way. As you wear something, turn it back the right way. Again, after a year if it's still the wrong way...guess what - throw out or donate. See you're getting the hang of this.
Take that huge pile of magazines to the local hospital or doctors surgery. So many patients will thank you.
Get your kids involved. My daughter and I just went through all her toys and books. A box went to day care and a box to the local kids ward. She was no longer using them, and now she is building a giving to charity mentality.
Plant some herbs, this feels great, tastes great and makes you cook more seasonal foods. Buy a seasonal cook book while you are at it.
Use some of our drawer sachets in your wardrobes and cupboards. I LOVE our Drenched Vanilla, but not all tastes are the same, so go for your favourite. I also hang one of these in my car to keep it fresh.
Bring in some fresher scents into your house. I am filling our place with the Floralia Freesia Diffusion Sticks and candle and I've snuck in some Aroma Home Lemongrass and Grapefruit in the bathroom. Home fragrance is just like personal perfume, it should be changed seasonally (or if you are like me with your moods). Change your linen. There are sales on everywhere at the moment, and an easy way to make your place seem brighter is to change the linen. There are some great colour schemes out the season, so be bold and make a change.
Last but not least - get out of the house!!!! Now is the time to go back to your exercise program (if you fell off like me), have some picnics, take a walk by the water or spend some time with friends over fish and chips in a gorgeous beer garden somewhere.

Hi ,
Ok - so I now not only proven to myself, but I have proven it to you that I'm not too good at getting these newsletters out. Sorry.
I'm a great believer in systems, and guess what? I haven't set up a system or even really a time table for getting these out, so what happened - it didn't get done. I should sometimes practise what I preach a little more.

What's happening here at Some Kind Of Bliss?

Well, the street is getting busier again with the re-opening of the shoe warehouse across the road.
It's also nearly Bus Time again. If you're not sure what that is, I'll explain. It's when shopping tours hit the roads around us. Companies like Bargain Buyers, Legends, Shop and Save, Patsy Anne, Factory Outlet Tours and more bring bus loads of women (and the occasional man) into our shop. It's a great way to get to know the cheaper shopping districts in your city, and can be a fun way to do some fundraising for your school or charity. It also means that by the time I get to Christmas I do not want to tie another ribbon on anything!!!! We make so many gift sets up every day, that I want to give everyone vouchers for Xmas. Only joking. I actually love wrapping and coming up with new ideas to make a present special.

Would you please help me?

I would really love some feedback or reviews on products. Both on our site, on reviews sites or even on our Facebook Page. While you are on our Facebook page, please 'like' us, so you can be kept up to date.
If you're in the following mood, , you can also follow us on Twitter.
So what will you get for helping me? Well, if you send me the link, or let me know about the review, I will send you a code. This code means that you will get DOUBLE YOUR ORDER!!!! How good is that??? You spend $50 on your order - I will send you $50 worth of product at no charge. The great thing is, it will mean you get to try some of our other great products.
I am also looking at starting up an affiliate program for the site. If you are interested please send an email to affiliates@somekindofbliss.com.

Featured Product.

I am absolutely LOVING this product. It's the Floralia Freesia Diffusion Sticks.
I have them in our main bathroom, and it's taking me out of this dreary winter and making me think of Spring....yeah only a couple of weeks to go.

Do You Know How to Pamper Yourself? Here are 5 Quick-Tips

By Sylvia C. Hall
Women. Ahh, we can do it all. We do it all. Right? Well, almost. I know of far too many mommies, or far too many entrepreneurs, or far too many work-from-homers that know how to do just about everything. That is, everything but pamper themselves.
Women today have to wear 10,000 hats just to get everything done. What does a normal week consist of? How much are you in charge of completing? Add it up. Make a list. I made a little list just to see what I was doing every week, and it made me realize something. I was in need of a break. A well deserved break.
Sure, men are busy, too. But, we'll leave that to another article. This is an article for those who understand it's NOT okay to leave an empty granola bar box in the cabinet. Are little things like these starting to drive you mad? Well, join the club, and then read these 5 ways to pamper yourself and retire the hats for at least just a bit.

Buy yourself something pretty. I'm a fan of jewelry and flowers. No, it doesn't have to be especially pricey. You can find a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store for under $5. And, fashion jewelry may seem trendy, but if you think it's pretty...go for it!
Do something to make you feel better about your body. Take a bubble bath, paint your toes, pluck your eyebrows...do something to pamper that body of yours.
About that body. Are you one of those negative-self-talkers? One of the best ways to pamper yourself is to STOP that right now. Stop that negative gibber-jabber.
Perhaps you've heard of a gratitude journal. It's a wonderful way to make yourself aware of 3 good things that happened to you throughout the day. I want you to use this same idea for an I Love Me journal. Take some time to write 3 reasons you love yourself, everyday! Point out all the wonderful things about your body, your mind, and your spirit. You can pamper yourself by loving yourself.
Daydream. Kids do it all the time. Go back to your child-like innocence and enjoy a lovely daydream. Imagine yourself somewhere beautiful. Think pleasant thoughts. Be at one with the moment, which is currently yours.
You can pamper yourself, . You can take just a few minutes each day to appreciate and love yourself. Take care of yourself and everyone in your life will be better off. Even the one who left the empty granola bar box in the cabinet...

I finally did it!!!!
Can you believe I have finally done this newsletter??? I'm impressed. I know I sent one a million year ago, but this one even has pictures!!!!
It's been over 18 months now since the doors of Some Kind Of Bliss opened and in that time it's changed quite a bit.
Online sales have been increasing for us - which is great. But we still have some amazing specials for those of you that do make it into the store.
Anyway, I'm not going to promise a newsletter everyday, week or even every second week - when I have something to say, I'll say it. So please don't worry about your Inbox getting bombarded by Some Kind Of Bliss - it won't happen.

There is a chill in the air

So it's still officially Autumn, but I'm feeling winteritis already. I haven't put the electric blanket or flannelette sheets on the bed yet, but the heater is out and I am changing my products around the house.
Why change products? Well, I know I prefer lighter scents in the warmer months in everything from my candles, to diffusers, to oils to moisturisers. Right now as it's getting colder all of my chosen fragrances are getting heavier.
Right now I am burning a Dervish Moroccan Fig and Cinnamon Candle, I have changed my lounge room diffuser over to Aroma Home Honeysuckle and Musk Diffusion Sticks, and I'm slathering Soy Milk and Cherry Blossom Body Butter all over twice a day. Just like you have a spring clean, you need to change your make up, personal fragrances and home fragrances as the seasons change. I even change my foundation to suit the change in climate and skin tone.
What fragrance will you surround yourself with this winter????
