Special Deal on a brand new romance, featuring one of my recipes!
One of my favorite authors, Tamera Alexander, has a new book which debuts October 23rd. This wonderful book is set in post civil war Tennessee at the Belle Mead Mansion in Nashville.
This book is extra special to me though because I got to be a part of it! One of the characters, Susannah, is known for her cooking and if you'll look in the back of the book, I provided the recipe for one of Susanna's prized dishes within the story. I was also proud to be able to endorse this book, and my endorsement is just inside the cover.
"To Whisper Her Name draws you in on a journey to redemption and love between two people who have suffered deeply from other's judgement. This is a story of love, but mostly of God's grace and His ever-present hand in restoring the lives of those who seek Him. A romance so deeply satisfying, both to my heart and to my sou;"
~Christy Jordan, author of Southern Plate

Bread For The Journey
And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. ~1 Samuel 30:6
What do you call a cow in an earthquake?
A milk shake
What does Tarzan say when he sees a herd of elephants? "Look, a herd of elephants!"
Oh my goodness, do I ever have a busy weekend ahead, but all of my work will definitely be worth it to see my daughter enjoy her 8th birthday party on Sunday!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, whether it's spent working, having a little adventure, or just sipping your coffee a little slower than you do during the week.
Please make sure you tune into SouthernPlate.com (and your email) on Monday for a very special opportunity involving me, one of you, and Operation Christmas Child.
Here is a hint: One of you will need a suitcase AND a passport. ~GRINS~
New This Week! Banjo Pickers - the Sandwich That'll Make You Sing!
This is one of those sandwiches that feels like a MEAL! With a blend of some of my favorite flavors, I based this sandwich off one served in a local restaurant. The great thing is that when you're done with a single recipe you'll have four generously sized sandwiches. LOVE IT!
With a lot of folks in and out of my house this weekend, I made a big old pot of this yesterday so I can have quick heat-and-eat meals whenever the need arises. This tangy chicken stew is better the next day!
Chocolate Cobbler -great for those with egg allergies :)
A few of the guests at Katy Rose's birthday party have egg allergies and I want them to have a special dessert as well so I'm making a big pan of Mama's Chocolate Cobbler. I'm leaving out nuts for those with nut allergies and this recipe doesn't require an egg, so the kids with egg allergies are good to go as well. I made this a week ago for one of Katy's friends who had food allergy issues and she ate three whole bowls of it!
Happy Birthday to my Katy Rose, who has requested Red Velvet Cupcakes at her birthday party :)
This is what my sweet Katy Rose chose as her cake for her birthday. I'll be making the cupcakes and icing and letting the kids decorate their own during the party - which will be almost as fun as eating them! For Katy, we're making them "Pink Velvet" :)
My in laws are in town with their car club this weekend and I promised their friends I'd make up a batch of old fashioned fried peach pies - made just like my great grandmother did! I'd best get cooking!
If you're not part of the Southern Plate Family on Facebook, you're missing half the party!
