Living by Goosebumps

        "I live by goosebumps."
      -Quincy Jones

Birdsong. A double rainbow. Really hot Latin music.

Capturing a magical moment on my digital camera (like the photo above). Watching an ah-ha register on the face of a student. Any routine choreographed by Mia Michaels on So You Think You Can Dance (especially the one linked at the bottom of this newsletter).

Music, beauty, and the feeling that we're all held in some way by a cosmic back-up orchestra... that is my gateway to spacious, juicy, magic.

What makes you feel pure, unmitigated joy? What touches you deeply, stops you dead in your tracks, or is sure to deliver full-body wave of goosebumps?

Wishing you a joy-filled New Year ... and at least one goosebump moment every day. If you need a little help "goosing the bumps," keep reading. This winter's newsletter is full of great ideas.

Happy chillin'!

Stephanie

  Roomful of Rumi

Case in point. This piece makes me go weak in the knees:

"This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them all at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond."

-Rumi

If you could use another hit of Rumi-ness, here's more.

Letting go, letting go, letting go

I tell people that the secret to clearing anything is to set an intention, let go of attachment to the outcome, and work with (allow) what shows up.

Recently I received an email from a student who attended one of my programs at the Kripalu Center last fall. This is a case of spaciousness continuing to work its magic three months following the workshop. Here's her story:

"Unexpectedly a Physical for my husband became a cardio stress test, became an angiogram, became a triple by-pass, within a few days of each other. Little did I know that I would actually 'need' the class on clearing. Every day at a moment's notice I have an opportunity to have a frightening thought 'he is going to die,' 'he won't make it,' 'his whole body must be messed up,' 'which system will be next.' I have visions of being at a funeral, being alone, of mourning. At each one I can see that this is the monkey mind playing with me, see the thought, hear the mind, let it go, let it go. Finally I can see more clearly to the work that will be in place when he is at home, step by step walking, eating, breathing. It is a huge and monumental task, or so it seems. It frightens me to the core. And I am eternally grateful that I have systems in place to let go, let go, let go. Thank you for your part in this."

  One-Minute Clearing

Breathing in... Breathing out...

Joan Borysenko posted a simple exercise on her Facebook page. After trying it myself, I thought it would make a terrific one-minute clearing practice.

Here's Joan's invitation:

"Try this practice for yourself/other people. Imagine the person in front of you.
  • Mentally repeat "I see you" and breath their soul essence of light and goodness into your heart (even if you're angry or upset).
  • Breath out "I appreciate you" from your heart.
  • Continue until this feels vibrant and real.
Joan's final note: "This is a combo of two practices: Tibetan Tonglen and Heartmath appreciation. I'm really enjoying it."

  Spacious Soul Food

"I am seeking the fullest expression of myself as a human being on Earth. That is the deal." [Oprah Winfrey on the Barbara Walters Show]

I hear and see messages like these all the time - online, on TV, on billboards, you name it. If they speak to the journey of cultivating a clear home and a spacious life I will share the best ones with a beautiful photo (if I can find one) on my SpaceClear Fan page on Facebook.

If you could use a baby dose of clearing inspiration, beautiful images, and occasional posts to feed the soul, join the party! Invite your friends to join too! The more the merrier.
