Hi everyone,

That's not me in the photo, but it could be, doing one of my favorite things.

Yes, I love making the bed in the morning. It's part of my daily ritual – right up there with yoga and meditation.

I love smoothing out the bunched-up sheets at the foot of the bed; shaking out and restoring the comforter; fluffing up the pillows, placing them back, and tucking the bedspread over them ... and, like a maestro putting the final flourishing touches on her masterpiece: laying the silk accent pillow in the middle and stepping back to take it all in.

It is five minutes of pure pleasure. It sets me up for the rest of the day.

It's not about having a perfect bed, mind you. It's about how this one simple daily practice works on me to quiet the noise, soften resistance, and feel good.

You don't have to take my word for it. Try it for a week and watch what happens. There's a fun video at the bottom of this email (from a Navy Seal, no less), that will give you a good reason to start your day in this way.
