Hi !
Beware the Ides of March. Hopefully they do not come bearing more snow and rather user in a sign of spring!
This newsletter will be very brief and to the point for no other reason than I am up to my eyeballs in work and a boatload of kid activities that need to be tended to!
And I would be remiss if I did not mention all that is happening in Japan as I write this. Please keep the people of Japan in your thoughts and prayers as I do. They have a mess on their hands and this global world will come together to help them recover. If you are interested in helping, you can text REDCROSS to 90999 and $10 will be billed to your cell phone. But a word of warning, do not give ANY money to anyone who initiates contact with you. I received several calls in the past few days looking for money to "help Japan" and when questioned, they hung up. There are scammers out there looking to prey on the tragedy. If you want to donate--YOU initiate the call!
So with that said, on with the show..
Rocking Horse Ranch
We are getting down to the wire on this trip and I will be finalizing the guest lists and getting the information up to the ranch in a few weeks.
We have had a few cancellations, so if you are interested in joining us, please take a look at our flier and get your deposit in. It is refundable till March 24th and I can either send you an e-invoice or you can make the deposit right online!
Sun And Fun Trips
Our Turks & Caicos trip to Beaches is also filling up. Yes, it is only March, but August will be here before you know it. And, with the price of gas rising, I expect the airlines to institute fuel surcharges--they don't call it a fare increase--soon.
The deposit requirement is $400 and it is refundable till the end of June 2011 for any reason. The resort is selling out and the better rooms may not be available for too long!
One Of A Kind Trips
We have two more spots left on our Ecuador trip this summer. If you are interested in heading south of the Equator (and north--you have a chance to straddle it), Brenda has put together a tremendous trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. This trip will feature a cruise as well as a land based vacation. The Galapagos are quickly becoming almost "too popular" and it is having a detrimental effect on the ecosystems. The archipelago is home to many unique and one of a kind animals including the Blue Footed Boobie. We have the details on the site, but if you need more, please feel free to contact Brenda directly
!Right now there are 8 families signed up and raring to go. Are you next?
Blog News
Thank you all for taking the time to vote in our poll and offering your suggestions for "where to now?" I am going to piece these together and based on your suggestions come up with a series of "reader requested" trips in the future. If you haven't chimed in yet, please do!
I stirred up a hornet's nest with a poorly worded post about Charlie Sheen and the removal of his children from his custody. My issue was more about the manner in which they were removed rather than his competency as a dad. Feel free and join in and kick me while I am down--I can take it. And for the record, this whole Sheen stuff--absolutely brilliant marketing! No train-wreck, a finely crafted piece of media manipulation.
And last month, I was bragging about my daughter and her polar bear plunge for Special Olympics, this month, I throw my hands up in the air in surrender in dealing with the mood swings of a 16 year old! To those who have younger girls--beware, your time will come!
And finally, a few housekeeping reminders! Please pass the word about Single Parent Travel along to your friends. If you are on Facebook or Twitter, we have installed "share" and "Tweet" icons on all pages of our site to make it easy to share something you like. These small actions will help us grow and I will be eternally grateful!
In case you did not know, you can like the Single Parent Travel Facebook page, you can follow Single Parent Travel on Twitter, and if you are really brave and interested in my personal ruminations, you can become my friend-but be warned, I offer no apologies for my somewhat off beat sense of humor!
Well, that is it for now. As always, thanks for reading and thanks for traveling, and thanks for being a friend!
All the best,
John W. Frenaye, Jr
Chief Single Dad
