Single Parent Travel

...creating memories since 1993!

Hi !

Well that was interesting. I literally sat down yesterday to write this newsletter when it hit me--the basket perched over my desk. It seems we had an earthquake in Virginia and Maryland was rocking and rolling. For the west-coasties, this is old hat, but it scared the heck out of us!  Go on have your fun, we laugh at you and your snow "storms."  But, now back to our regularly scheduled newsletter!

I love this time of year. The weather is getting a bit cooler, and everyone seems refreshed. The kids are more than ready to start school with new clothing, supplies, and challenges. I am shaking my head as to where the time has gone. I have a son who is a sophomore on college, a daughter entering her senior year in high school, and another daughter entering her freshman year of high school. As for me, I feel I am still holding at 25!

But with the end of summer and beginning of fall, we look to next year and our upcoming trips.  We have just released 3 of them and will have several more based on your recommendations in the coming weeks. So be sure you check out the site!

So with that said, on with the show..

TURKS & CAICOS 2012

We are headed back again! As always, the trip sold out this year and the families have just returned from a week on the fabulous beaches of Grace Bay. And as we are skilled at doing, we dodged Hurricane Irene! Next year, the dates have changed and we are able to get there earlier in August for the same price. Mark your calendars for August 4-11, 2012.
There is a "but" in there. The prices are subject to change and they likely will in December. So, if you are interested in this trip for 2012, a fully refundable $400 deposit will hold the room and the price.

You can read about the trip here. We do not have the flier attached yet, but hope to in the next few days. For questions or more details, feel free to call or email.

2011 HOLIDAY CRUISE

We are still reaping the benefits of a favorable calendar and the week between Christmas and New Years is still kind of in tact. This year, we will embark on a 5 night cruise in the Western Caribbean on Celebrity's Millennium! This cruise leaves from Miami (reasonably priced airfare into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale from almost anywhere), includes two wonderful days at sea, and port calls in Cozumel (one of my favorites) and Roatan, Honduras--a port that I have never visited. Roatan is know for it's diving and wonderful sea life.

The Millennium is a smaller (today's standards) ship and has a bit less of that "Las Vegas" feel about her. We have secured a VERY LIMITED number of cabins and this trip will be limited to 15 families. A refundable $500 deposit is due immediately with the balance due at the end of October!

You can read some more details here, but like the Turks trip, we are working on the downloadable flier!

ROCKING HORSE RANCH NOVEMBER 2011

November will be here before you know it and we are headed back to Highland, NY for another fun filled weekend. November 4-6, 2011 are the dates you want to mark! The pricing is a little different and it is actually a reduction for most people. The ranch is segmenting the kids by age. The pricing is per person based on age and is pretty straight forward. We also were able to reduce the deposit amount to $50 per person. For those that know, this trip is a lot more crowded than the spring trips. It is also a little earlier than in years past, so the weather ought to be a bit better and we might get some good fall color!  To insure a spot and (more importantly) a spot in the main lodge, reserve now. You can reserve with us on the site, by phone, email, or you can call the ranch, but you MUST say you are with our group. You can check out all the details here!

JAMAICA, BEACHES, AUGUST 2012

After a hiatus for the resort to complete some renovations, we will be returning to Beaches Boscobel Resort & Golf Club in August.  This resort is one of my favorites. It is not quite as fancy as the one in Turks & Caicos, but there is somethign that just hits home with me!

The resort is on Jamaica's North Coast and features all of the Beaches amenities you would expect--all inclusive--don't worry about a thing mon! I will be honest, the beach is okay. It is not great (go to Turks if you are looking for an incredible beach) but it is nice, clean, and small. The Oceanfront Terrace Suites have fantastic views and it is a more wallet friendly resort than Turks.

Again, more details can be found here and I hope to have the flier attached in a few days!

COMING SOON

We asked, and you responded!  There were some awesome suggestions left on the blog in comments and many more sent to me by email. Next up on the list will be an Alaskan Cruise in the early Summer of 2012, a weekend in Niagra Falls, a long weekend (or possibly longer) to Quebec, Canada, a short cruise from California to the Mexican Riviera, and possibly a week in Ireland. The dates and details are still being worked out, but stay tuned and check back for the most current trips!

Under consideration is an adults only (leave the kids at home) trip to some warm and sunny place!

We have tried to balance  our trips in duration, geography, and cost. We are ALWAYS open for suggestions, so please keep them coming!
