Single Parent Travel

...creating memories since 1993!

Hi !

Wow, it's been a while and for that I apologize. We last sent out a newsletter in August--and after that, it seems all heck broke loose beginning with our main server being zapped in Tropical Storm Irene followed by a learning curve when I made the decision to switch to Mac from PC.  And for the record--mostly loving it!

As we head into the Holiday Season, I do want to send my personal wishes from my family to yours for a fantastic, magical, safe, and joyous holiday--no matter which ones you celebrate!
Our 2011 Holiday Cruise ended up selling out. So there will be 12 families plying the waters of the Western Caribbean in a few short weeks with Celebrity Cruises. We have just recently added two new trips along with the 2012 Beaches trips--take a look.

If you have any questions, please call or shoot me an email. But not this weekend, I am headed to Philly to get a cheesesteak and to see a favorite band of mine from the 1980s--hoping to disconnect from the world for a few days.

Hey, don't forget, we are a travel agency. If you are traveling outside of our groups, we would love the opportunity to handle your next trip!

So with that said, on with the show..

At the end of May 2012, we will be headed to see Harry Potter. This time it is not in the UK and it does not have a gigantic "trip of a lifetime" price tag.

We have again partnered with HP Fan Trips and will be headed to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando for four nights!  We will be housed in our own "house" and will participate with other fans in competitions, pajama parties, and more.

We will be bringing in actors from the film (sorry, not Dan, Emma, or Rupert) and some storytellers from the UK to make this a one of a kind US based Harry Potter experience.

But the highlight is the Gala Event. We have pulled all the stops out and rented out the entire theme park for the night! So, you will have the entire park to yourself to explore the rides and thrills that only Harry Potter can bring. And no need to worry about crowds, we are capping this trip at 75% of the park's capacity!
In July (21st to 28th) head out west to Telluride, Colorado. This trip has been hand crafted by Brenda Elwell, our Founder and proves to be fun, relaxing, and educational.

Join us for this exciting one week trip to the High Rockies and the Wild West.  We have included activities that are both lots of fun and historically and culturally educational.  Our Single Parent Travel package has excursions for the whole family as well as some very special separate events for parents and children. There is also ample time to relax at your deluxe Peaks Resort & Spa Hotel, with wraparound stunning views of Colorado, wherever you turn and resort activities galore for everyone.
We are headed back again! As always, the trip sold out this year and the families had a fantastic time on the fabulous beaches of Grace Bay. And while I was not so lucky here in Maryland, our Turks families were able to dodge Hurricane Irene--we are good at that!   Mark your calendars for August 11-18, 2012.
There is a "but" in there. The prices are subject to change and they likely will in Janiary. So, if you are interested in this trip for 2012, a fully refundable $400 deposit will hold the room and the price.

You can read about the trip here. For questions or more details, feel free to call or email.

After a hiatus for the resort to complete some renovations, we will be returning to Beaches Boscobel Resort & Golf Club in August.  This resort is one of my favorites. It is not quite as fancy as the one in Turks & Caicos, but there is something that just hits home with me!

The resort is on Jamaica's North Coast and features all of the Beaches amenities you would expect--all inclusive--don't worry about a thing mon! I will be honest, the beach is okay. It is not great (go to Turks if you are looking for an incredible beach) but it is nice, clean, and small. The Oceanfront Terrace Suites have fantastic views and it is a more wallet friendly resort than Turks. One of our single parents missed the Turks trip this year due to an emergency and ended up at Boscobel a few weeks later and loved it--she has already re-booked for next year!

Again, more details can be found here and I hope to have the flier attached in a few days!

ROCKING HORSE RANCH 2012 TRIPS

We just got back from our November trip to the Rocking Horse Ranch and had a blast--but for those who have been there, that is not a surprise.  You can read all about it and take a look at the 400+ photos my daughter was snapping all weekend!

Looking to 2012, we will be going back, but the dates are not yet finalized. We are looking in early May and again in early November.  The November date this year was fantastic as we all gained an hour of sleep with the time change--I think we will try for that weekend again!

COMING SOON

We are still working on a few more!  Look for an Alaskan Cruise in the Summer of 2012, a weekend in Niagra Falls, a long weekend (or possibly longer) to Quebec, Canada, a short cruise from California to the Mexican Riviera, and possibly a week in Ireland. I am also looking into several weekend "City" trips to New York, Philadelphia (yay for cheesesteaks), New Orleans, Chicago, and San Francisco. The dates and details are still being worked out, but stay tuned and check back for the most current trips!

We have tried to balance  our trips in duration, geography, and cost. We are ALWAYS open for suggestions, so please keep them coming!

ON THE BLOG

Just as I was slacking on the newsletter, I was slacking on the blog too. But there were some good posts that started some conversation.  Why not mosey (still in a Rocking Horse Ranch mode I guess) over and give them a read and leave a comment or two! Here are some of the warm topics!
