The Sole Runners Full and Half Marathon Training Programs Fall/Winter Programs start this Saturday. We will have open registration for the next 6 weeks. The training starts Saturday and concludes that weekend of the LA Marathon Sunday, March 15.

What makes the Sole Runners Training Programs different are ChiRunning and Yoga. That's right, we are the only local training program that features ChiRunning and Yoga as part of your training to get you ready.

We will have a ChiRunning Lessons throughout the training but learning or getting a refresher in the beginning of the season is the optimum time to work on your running form.

The ChiRunning lesson takes a little over an hour, so you won't get to do your Saturday "Long Run" but don't worry, you'll still get a workout, valuable training, followed by some yoga.

What do you get when you join the Sole Runners?

You get a professionally coached 21-week training program getting you ready to run a Spring full or half marathon. Plus, a Sole Runners training shirt, on-line training schedule, weekly group runs, ChiRunning book (for new Sole Runners), weekly yoga after Saturday runs, weekly emails with training tips, videos and more...

We specialize in coaching beginners and getting runners that may have stopped running for some reason and want to get back running. But, we also coach many experienced runners and even have runners that qualify for the Boston Marathon.

The Fall/Winter program is centered around training for the LA Marathon but that same weekend is the Catalina Marathon. Plus, we train for the Surf City Races in February and the Great Races in Agoura the week after the LA Marathon. Many of our runners are also training for the Born to Run Ultras and Rock n Roll races around the country.

Our goal is to get you ready for whatever race you are interested in running no matter your experience.

What will happen on Saturdays?

Several people have asked me what to expect on Saturdays. Saturday is the day we training together. Each Saturday we will spend a few minutes discussing a different aspect of endurance training, then we do our long, slow run, and then we do yoga together.

Starting this Saturday the full and half marathoners will run, jog, or walk different distances.  We train by time -- not distance.  The body doesn't know '1 mile' or '5 miles'  but the body does know '45 minutes' or '1 hour and 10 minutes.

After Saturdays you follow your on-line training schedule that tells you the amount of time you need to run or cross train each week.

How much does it cost?

Can you put a price on good health, the ability run long distances, a chance to complete a personal goal, make new friends and change your life path?

Of course not, but the price for new Sole Runners is $165 if you show up this Saturday. The price for Alumni Sole Runners (meaning you have run with us for one or more seasons) is $135. That's only $7.85 a week for a new Sole Runner or the price of a couple muffins at Starbucks. I would never deny you your favorite coffee drink but I can save you a few hundred calories.

After Saturday the price increases to $175 for new Sole Runners and $145 for Alumni.

Bring your family and friends. If someone you bring is a new Sole Runner and signs-up you get either a Sole Runner hat, visor or shirt. Sign-up two new people and $100 back.
