What evokes the feeling of a beautiful warm summer day at the beach more than surf, sand, and surfboards!
To make the sand to stack your surfboards tear a sheet of Designer Series Paper into strips so the white shows on the edges, curving the tear as you go. I call it the "Torn Paper Landscape" technique. :-) SUPPLIES:
Stamps & Wheels: Summer Splash Stamp Set (wood-123035 or clear-123037); Swirls & Curls Verses Hostess Stamp Set (w-123015/c-123017)
Card Stock & Paper: Tempting Turquoise 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (#102067), 5-1/8" x 4-1/8"; River Rock 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (#108640), 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"; Very Vanilla 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (#101650), 2" x 3"; Daffodil Delight 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (#119683), 2-1/2" x 5"; Neutrals Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack (#117157), River Rock words pattern Ink Pads: Early Espresso Classic (119670); Calypso Coral Classic (122939)
Stampin' Write Markers: Tempting Turquoise (100058), Daffodil Delight (119677), Poppy Parade (119801) & In Color 2011-2013 (123002 - Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral & Island Indigo) Accessories & Tools: Early Espresso/White Baker's Twine (123124); 1-3/8" Circle Punch (119860); 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch (119854); Sponge Dauber (102892); SNAIL Adhesive (104332); Stampin' Dimensionals (104430); Mini Glue Dots (103683)
DIRECTIONS: 1. Fold & crease River Rock card base.
2. Tear strips of paper from sheet of River Rock Patterns, shouldn't need more than 2. Tear in half. Lay strips on Tempting Turquoise piece, topmost strip first and adhere with SNAIL in the middle of the strip. Trim edges.
3. Color surfboard image with markers, huff and stamp on Very Vanilla piece. Cut out each one. Tuck slightly under the "sand" as desired and adhere with Mini Glue Dot.
4. Stamp hello image with Early Espresso Pad on one end of Daffodil Delight piece. Center and punch out with circle punch. Punch scallop circle from same piece. Daub edges with Calypso Coral and adhere circle to scallop circle. Attach to upper corner of turquoise piece with Stampin' Dimensional.
5. Wrap bottom of layer with Baker's Twine and tie bow. Tie knot first to make it easier.
6. Adhere layer to card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
To make a coordinating envelope, stamp surfboards with Early Espresso or Calypso Coral pads (stamped off to lighten image) on left front side and flap of Very Vanilla Medium Envelope (107300).
More Than Just Paper
Did you know you can use many various materials other than paper with the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine? Here's a fun project that is unique: the covers of the flower-shaped note pad are from pieces of aluminum cans and embellished with a flattened bottle cap!
This project uses the inside (silver) part of the can, but it's fun to experiment with various designs on the outside of cans, too! And yes, it is safe to put both of these materials through the Big Shot!
(Tip: use an old set of Standard Cutting Pads for the bottle caps, as they tend to leave deeper grooves than other materials do).
Use copy paper, designer papers, or card stock for the note pad filler.

2. Insert aluminum flowers (one at a time) into Elegant Lines Embossing Folder and run through Big Shot-make sure you do this twice, as you need a front and back for pad. Set aside.

Ask Rebecca
Question - I don't sew... what would I do with the Designer Fabric that Stampin' Up! sells (p. 196 in the Idea Book & Catalog)?
Answer: The Designer Fabric is not just for seamstresses! Here are just a few ideas:
- Run the fabric through your Big Shot with a flower die to create wonderful fabric flower accents that can be used on your 3D projects or attached to your clothing with a pin.
- Flattering floral accents could be used as a focal feature on a cardfront or a scrapbook page.
- You could use the fabric to cover your art journal (item 108495), or use it as a background for a framed photo.
- Use the Big Shot Fabric Adhesive Roll (item 122194) with your iron to adhere the fabric if you are not handy with a needle and thread.
