Herb, The Joyful Survivor Wishes You Love and Joy Today and Always! The month of February can bring lots of new emotions, including that of love. It is Valentine's Day in the US. Interestingly, the Buddhist Nirvana Day and the Tibetan New Year also occur within a week of Valentine's Day. Each day can signify love, peace, and new beginnings. The search for true love can be at the top of that list for many people. What is the definition of true love? I think most people tend to think of true love as that one soul mate that 'completes' them. If you have someone significant in your life this month, that definition can bring you much joy. But, what about those of you who may be unattached right now? If you consider that all of us are part of the whole spirit, which is everywhere, another definition of true love may emerge that may give you joy. To love another even if the love returned is not in the form you wish, is the real definition of true love. That means loving ANYBODY--parents, siblings, children, family members, friends, etc. Remember, we are all part of the whole and therefore, the love another person may have for you OR someone else is really a love in which ALL share. It may not be physical love, but it is a purer, more spiritual love. So instead of focusing on your love with just one person, why not begin anew with the chance to receive love wholly from everywhere in the universe, beginning within yourself? Furthermore, since your thoughts create our world, you will be in essence, bringing into reality the physical manifestation of any love you perceive you are missing. It was a day in history that brought tremendous pain for America. Furthermore, it also created heartache for much of the world. Of the nearly 3,000 souls lost that day on American soil, there were people from 93 different countries killed in the attacks. But, as is evident in times of tragedy, it also brought forth the best in humanity. It was a time that we came together, not only as a nation, but also as a collective whole. On this day, the anniversary of that fateful day, I found myself glued to the television watching reruns of those horrific events. I, like so many others, have spent the day reflecting on that day. It was a defining day, and many, because of that impact, remember EXACTLY what they were doing on that day. What were you doing? As for me, I had just purchased a newly built home in the suburbs of Dallas and I was in transition between homes. I had not completely moved into my new home as my backyard was still without grass. Since I had two dogs, I did not relish the idea of them running in mud, so I had been temporarily staying with my mom. As I awoke the morning of 9/11/2001, the phone suddenly rang while I was getting ready for work. It was my brother. Have you been watching the news? he asked. You need to turn on the TV and check out what is going on in New York. As I switched the television on, I was shocked to see the North Tower of the World Trade Center ablaze. Frozen to watching the events, I found myself lagging behind in getting to work. Within minutes, the second plane hit the South Tower and I felt my heart stop. What the heck was going on? I could feel the whole weight of those poor people in the towers, the planes and their families heavy on my heart. Their pain was my pain. On 9/11/2001, a company located in one of the high-rise buildings in downtown Dallas employed me. Somehow, I managed to pull myself together to drive the short distance to the office. I did not know if I could work, but I needed the comfort of others to help me through the day. As I arrived, I noticed many of my coworkers huddled around a television set, watching the tragedy further unfold. I joined them. Within minutes, the South Tower disintegrated. We were all stunned. Soon afterwards the North Tower fell. We all felt numb and heartbroken. Soon, our office manager called an emergency staff meeting. He had been in contact with other senior staff of the company. They decided that all workers were to be sent home, since it was unclear just how many other office buildings in other cities may be targeted. My new home is located in the suburbs, miles away from downtown. My sister also lives a few miles away from me. However, my mom lived only a few miles from downtown. Therefore, my sister and I thought it was safer for our mom to stay with one of us in the suburbs. We picked her up, along with my two dogs and arrived at my new home as quickly as we could, wondering if there was really any safe place in the world. As we sat watching the news that entire day, we each conveyed the deep stabbing in our hearts--the loss of life. Even though we did not know any of the victims personally, it felt as though we had lost someone who was part of our own family. As I have sat remembering and reflecting on that day, I am reminded of the common connection between each life on earth. We are all part of the whole spirit of God--an invisible source connecting us all. We are not separate--we are one in that spirit. Every feeling we sense of others is evidence of this connection. This is why we literally feel someone else's pain. The spirit within is everlasting. As such, similar to the physical body whose antibodies activate whenever there is infection or injury, the other parts of the spirit can react in a similar manner. You have light and construction within you. Whenever part of the whole is hurting, you may feel the need to reach out and help. This is why so many are compelled to help in times of adversity...they feel that beautiful connection with the other parts of that whole. Notice the connection. Notice how others joy and pain affects you. Can you deny there is something existing between you? Rejoice in the knowledge that you are never alone. Whether you are in pain or not, you are part of something bigger than you are. This connection can bring the most joy and peace. Herb Chronicles Helping Others Find Joy by Assisting Them in Overcoming Their Story of Adversity Awaken Your Spirit Painful Situations - Are You Being Punished? Lately, everyone I know has expressed they are have significant suffering in their lives due to various events. For instance, several friends are having major financial issues. Others are ending relationships. Some are incredibly unhappy in their jobs. Moreover, there are those I know who are having medical issues for which there appears to be no known cause. Maybe you are in the throes of adversity today. Perhaps it is one of the aforementioned issues or even a combination of several. The bottom-line: it is not fun, causing worry, a feeling of helplessness and downright unhappiness. You could be an emotional mess right now! I know I have had my share of such in the last month! Whenever perceived 'bad' things happen, we often question why. For those astrologers out there, you may have heard there have been three eclipses this month, something that does not happen every day. The first was on June 1, and was a solar new moon eclipse. The second was June 15, and was a total eclipse of the moon (a full moon eclipse) and the last one is July 1, another solar new moon eclipse. I am no astrologer, so I will defer my statements to http://www.astrologyzone.com creator and expert Susan Miller. She says, Eclipses are dramatic 'wild cards' that we don't see coming. They shake us up so that we can move from one level of maturity to another, very rapidly. She also says, Eclipses bring news of big life events that you long remember. Therefore, the heavens activities may have been contributing to some of our recent shakiness and pain. What I do know is that all of us go through pain in our lives, regardless of whether there are astrological aspects or not. Nevertheless, sometimes that pain becomes excruciating. It is then that we search for answers. Why then, do you suppose each of us experiences pain in our lives? Could it be that you are being punished, as some people would have you believe? Do you really think that God, our Creator, wants us to be in misery? If so, why would He send help to us in the forms of ancient sages and mystics, such as Jesus? Where does destruction come into play when you examine a God of love? Love is about construction, not destruction. The very idea of judgment comes from the notion that each of us is outside of God. But, the spirit of God is everywhere. Therefore, He is within each of you. You are part of the whole of God, not separate from Him. Every aspect of a whole is an aspect of equality--no superiority or inferiority. Feelings of greater or lesser create ideas of inequality and judgment. I have had so many people say to me, Even though I think I have done nothing wrong, I feel I am being punished...that is why I am in pain right now. Although I do know that each of us has choice and sometimes our actions cause certain outcomes, I also personally know that the spirit within only wants the best for each of us. No--you are not being punished by that spirit! Get that idea out of your head. Feelings of punishment are not constructive. And the spirit is about construction and LOVE! Therefore, instead of wanting to rain punishment down on your head, why not instead approach your current painful situation as an opening for growth...the possibility to change your current unhappy state. That eclipse may just be forcing you to look at something that you have been avoiding. I invite you to count all pain as a blessing, instead of a curse. Look at it for the opportunity it is; a chance for growth. And what is wrong with that? Examining the Listening Skills of Well-Intentioned 'Doctors' We all want to be doctors when it comes to helping others out of their pain. However, when someone is in pain, what kind of support do you give? Do you step into their shoes and look at the situation from their eyes? Or, like so many of us, do you simply give what you think is the best advice based upon your own experiences? We all have our own perspectives and stories. However, when someone is in severe pain, it is important that we recognize that 'listening' is oftentimes the most beneficial thing we can do to help. We all want to be doctors, whether we have experience in that arena or not. However, doctors who do not listen to their patients are of no value at all. After all, a patient knows themselves better than any doctor...they know what they are experiencing. Even though our intentions may be good, until we listen to another, we cannot know what they want or need. For instance, you may think that you can help by trying to uplift another through humor. You attempt to make another laugh. However, from my own personal experience, when I am in extreme pain, that does not work and actually, may make matters worse. However, I have always welcomed someone simply listening to me outpour my emotions. My point is this--simply listening is the best medicine. Tell Your Friends! Herb Chronicles Helping Others Find Joy by Assisting Them in Overcoming Their Story of Adversity Awaken Your Spirit Inspiring, Moving and Motivating People to Action The last several months have been extremely hard for me. I have been so tired that I have not been able to function at the capacity that I would have preferred. As the days wear on, I often find myself needing to take frequent naps. I also blame myself for not having more stamina. I find myself having the destructive thoughts that I am offering no value to humanity. However, that process is not constructive. If you listen, you can find encouragement coming from the universe to help you out during your own trying times. The spirit within is always there to inspire, move and motivate you to action--it is there to guide and help you. We all go through challenges in life. These are opportunities for growth. However, it can be hard to recognize any benefit coming out of those challenges when you are going through them. Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to move, allowing for change and growth. As for my situation, I recognized a VERY strong message that I have much to give to others. Furthermore, it would be beneficial to take action in that regard. That realization came in the form of a ferocious dog. Although I live in a big city, I reside in an area where there is an abundance of animals. Not only are there many pets in people's yards, but as you drive though the area, you can encounter small wild rabbits and squirrels running freely. I enjoy the frolicking animals and the birds flying around...to me all life has purpose. As I went to get my mail the other day, a disconcerting sound coming from behind surprised me. As I turned, I was shocked to see a huge, tan pit bull mauling a baby bunny rabbit across the street from my house. I could not stand to hear the rabbit cry, so I called to the dog to leave the tiny rabbit alone. As he paused for a second, the bunny managed to scoot under my neighbor's parked car. However, his paws continued to grab at the poor thing. The bunny was letting out a screeching sound that was painful to hear. I have never been afraid of dogs, no matter the size or breed, so I felt no threat in calling out to the dog. Therefore, I continued yelling at the dog as I continued walking back towards my front door. However, the dog did not like me yelling at him and as I continued walking, he let me know that he was not happy with my interference, no matter how mild I thought my action had been. Within seconds, he was standing several feet from me, barking intensely. I raised my hand to motion for him to stay. He remained for a few seconds, but then began to charge. Luckily, I was almost to my door and was able to scramble inside without being hurt. As I closed the door, he rammed the glass on the storm door. I immediately began to think that this dog might hurt others. I was particularly worried about schoolchildren who would soon be departing from a bus only a few houses away. Therefore, I picked up the phone and called animal control. As I hung up the phone, I went back to the door to see if the dog was still around. I noticed he had returned to my neighbor's car, searching intensely for the bunny rabbit. However, the small baby rabbit had apparently managed to hobble away when I had distracted the dog with my yelling. As I watched, the dog realized his prey was not under the car. Therefore, he turned his attention on my neighbor's yard. I exited my house and stood on the front porch, waiting for animal control to show up and keeping close tabs on the whereabouts of the dog. The dog began rummaging through my neighbor's flowerbeds. Suddenly, he noticed me standing on my porch. In a split second, he began barking and he started racing towards me. I quickly reentered my house, leaving the storm door shut. Once again, he jumped on the door, slobbering all over it. He stood on my porch, barking violently at me. From where I stood, he would have torn me to bits had I not been in the safety of my home. Then, after about five minutes, the dog suddenly bolted from my sight. I began to open the door, and the dog reappeared. As previously, he stood there for several minutes barking wildly, and then raced off, out of my sight. Therefore, I did not attempt to step outside again, as I felt that I was now 'his prey.' Within minutes, animal control appeared, but they could not locate the dog, despite searching up and down several streets and alleyways. I thought it strange. As I stood outside talking to them, my next-door neighbor suddenly appeared and told us of a similar experience his wife had with a dog matching my description the day before. He informed animal control that a neighbor living a few houses away owned such a dog. However, when questioned by animal control, the neighbor simply denied owning such a dog. Since I did not see the neighbor with the dog and since I knew that the neighbor had a sturdy fence in which to contain such a dog, I felt at the time that it was not appropriate to ask animal control to question the neighbor further. However, I felt uneasy about not finding that dog. Animal control left and told me to call again should I see the dog. In the meantime, I asked my neighbor to ask his wife to call me, as I wanted to compare her encounter with mine. My instincts told me that the neighbor in question had lied about owning such a dog, even though I had never seen it. I decided to investigate further, and drove through the alley to discover a HUGE hole in the neighbor-in-question's fence. My next-door neighbor's wife called and we discussed our experiences. The dog was the same dog. Furthermore, she said that the dog definitely belonged to the neighbor whom animal control had already questioned. Her encounter involved the children and wife of that neighbor, who admitted to her that the dog was theirs and finally took control of it so that she could return home safely. They also informed her on the day of her encounter that the dog periodically digs underneath the fence, being able to roam freely to terrorize the neighborhood. I politely asked her to relay that information to animal control so that they could take further action. As a result of our actions, animal control is taking a more active role in stopping the neighbor's dog from violently hurting someone. Furthermore, I feel I have been able to save lives. Yes, I have been tired. I have felt I have nothing to offer. But I recognized through my actions that I have much to contribute to the world. Had I sat on my butt and ignored the situation, others may be hurt. And that situation is not constructive. You have much to offer too! No matter how challenged you feel today, recognize that you are important. Take any opportunity to act as an opportunity to contribute and help others. After all, we are all part of the whole! Let the Music Move You Do you ever listen to the same song over and over? Recently, I have been drawn to a song by Donna Summer called 'My Life'. The premise of the song is the apprehension of a singer before going onto stage one night. The analogy in the song is similar to everyone's life--about life being a dance and it is time to put our fears to the side and go for being on a GREAT stage. The chorus of that song by Donna Summer, P. Waterman, P. Berry and G. Miller says it all. Life is a dance. And baby we're all players. So stand up and smile. Don't be afraid. This is my night. Herb Chronicles Helping Others Find Joy by Assisting Them in Overcoming Their Story of Adversity Awaken Your Spirit Receiving Messages and Listening to Spiritual Guides - Be Open to Signs around You Every day each of us receives messages that are instantly disregarded. No, I am not referring to those annoying telephone messages that we may receive from telemarketers and survey companies. The messages to which I am referring are those indirect, intuitive messages from a different realm that are constantly around, but for which many escape our notice. These are often communications from spirit directing us to a more constructive path. These messages can reduce stress and make our life easier. Therefore, it is most beneficial if you keep your mind open to signs around you, receiving messages and listening to your spiritual guides. What am I talking about? Let me explain by giving some examples from my own life. Since the beginning of the year, I have felt that this year is going to be a huge transformational year for me. As most of you know, I fell and had serious injuries that have been most debilitating in the last few years. However, although I still have problems, I continue to move forward. As I meditate, I always ask for verification that certain things are progressing, despite how outside influences may appear--send me signs. In the last several months, I have received numerous messages that things are indeed advancing in the constructive direction to which I have been working. For instance, last month I woke up one morning, got out of bed and walked immediately into my bathroom. As I approached, I noticed something black on the floor in front of the sink. Still groggy with sleep, I first thought it was a hair band, as it was in that familiar circular shape. However, I wondered how it got there--I had not been wearing a hair band recently. As I started to reach down to pick it up, it suddenly moved! Eeeeek! Being absent my glasses, I refocused and saw that it was a snake, curled in a circular pattern! I was stunned! I have never had a snake in my bathroom. It was only about 9-12 inches long. Nevertheless, I wondered how it could have possibly gotten into my home. I searched every square inch of the bathroom and bedroom and found no opening where such a creature could enter. It was as if it miraculously appeared. Now, in the past I would have been panicking. However, calmness swept over me and I managed to remove the snake without any meltdown. Furthermore, I immediately sensed that this occurrence was a sign--one for which it would be beneficial to take notice. A friend of mine is an animal totem reader. She has told me that if an unexpected animal shows up or keeps appearing in your life, pay close attention. The animal spirit world is sending you a message. I already had validated this fact other times in my life. For instance, when I broke both my arms, hundreds of snails began climbing the outside walls of my home. I soon discovered that snails are a sign of protection, and boy did I need protection then! This knowledge gave me comfort. Therefore, I knew the snake in my bathroom was a sign worth recognizing. So, what did I do? I paid attention. I went to the internet and looked up the meaning of a snake in animal totem terms. I discovered it symbolizes transformation, healing, creative forces awakening, and more accurate and sharpened intuition. It also signals a transition in life--new opportunities and/or changes! Now the VERY day that I saw that snake, huge change was occurring in my life. I was given the opportunity to speak to a group that day. Furthermore, I had not even thought to target this particular group--they approached me. The speech was well received and I managed to sell more products than I had done at any other speaking event. In the weeks that have followed that snake encounter, my creative juices, intuition and transformation continues. People have appeared in my life to help! The snake totem meaning proved to be correct. I know the messages I received that day, because of my care in taking notice, have helped me carry out those totem meanings further. Furthermore, as time goes on, I have been receiving other validating messages from the universe. For instance, the Volkswagen beetle car has always been special to me. My best friend owned one when I first met her, which she fondly called 'her son.' We had great times tootling around town in that car! I can even remember the license plate of it. The car is also meaningful to me because it was the focus of the classic movie 'Herbie the Love Bug.' Since my surname is Herb, I felt it always fit with me. Anyway, lately I have been noticing TONS of different VW bugs every time I drive somewhere, even if it is only a few miles from my home. Yesterday, I saw five yellow VW bugs all within a 6-mile radius of my home and all within 45 minutes of each other. Each one was unexpected and one had MY INITIALS on the license plate. The initial thing really caught my attention because out of nowhere, I have been recently seeing LOTS of vehicles with my initials on them...such as CL, CLH, CND, and CH. Each time I see one, I am very startled, causing my heart to race, as I had not noticed them before now. However, something keeps drawing my attention to them. I know these messages are there to let me know there is constructive focus on my life--things are going to continue to get better each day AND there are spiritual guides helping me! However, had I not opened myself to receive these messages, I may have missed vital information that can help me continue with constructive growth. I encourage each of you to take notice of unexpected occurrences in your life. DO not just throw information off as simply a coincidence. If something unexpected arrives in your life, consider you may be receiving a message from spirit and the universe. There are benefits to keeping an open mind to signs around you. If you do, your earthly journey can be more productive and may flow easier. And why would anyone want to fight help to navigating this life? Testing Information Received - Light or Dark Forces in Play? All of us receive unconscious messages every day. However, how can you determine if light or dark forces are in play with regard to those messages? By testing the information received, you can establish whether it is beneficial to use. But how? I have often received intuitive messages or signs. Before I accept and act on those messages, I put them to the test. I determine if the message is constructive or destructive. If it is constructive, it will bring a useful outcome--one that does not make me angry, sad or ashamed. For instance, the messages I outlined above all made me feel extremely excited and happy. Furthermore, I could see the construction going on in my life. If, on the other hand, the message I receive appears to be destructive--it makes me want to hurt someone or act without integrity, then I can rest assured that dark forces contributed the message. For example, I sometimes wake up after having disturbing dreams and I am immediately in a bad mood. I take note and recognize the message for what it is--a ploy by dark forces to stop me from living a constructive life. Yes, there are dark forces working against humanity. The spirit of light wants the best for you and your return to the constructive spiritual realm. However, dark forces know that if humanity reaches such heights, their world will fall away. So...they work against us. Recognize this and discard any destructive information. Remember, if the message will bring a constructive outcome and/or has attributes of love, understanding, compassion, honor, honesty and humility, then accept it. Herb Chronicles Helping Others Find Joy by Assisting Them in Overcoming Their Story of Adversity Awaken Your Spirit Inspire Others with Your Actions - Indirect Approach Makes Direct Impact This month has been a crazy one for me. It seems many times we work to 'clean' things in our life. This is especially true in the springtime. I have been doing a lot of reassessing with regard to my personal and professional life. As a result, I have been working hard to bring about changes that will bring a more beneficial impact to both others and me. Part of my approach has been to enhance my learning with additional reading and participating in various seminars. I am attempting to inspire others and to do so; I have found that a continuous effort in my own development is necessary. However, as the month wore on, I have come across methods being used that have rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps the same is true with you. For instance, I am in the midst of taking a personal development seminar. I signed up for the program after a very good friend invited me to do so. She has been talking about it for months, inviting me to check into it. I agreed to investigate further. After attending an 'Introduction Night' with her, I was impressed with her spirit of caring towards me. It was apparent that the seminar had made a huge constructive impact on her and she wanted to share that experience with me. The course made sense and therefore, I chose to immediately sign up for the first course. Shortly afterwards, however, I received an unexpected reaction from another friend when I told her my intentions to proceed with this additional education. She informed me that the course, in her mind, was a form of mind control and that it would be wise to 'be careful.' When I pressed her for her reasons for such thinking, she confided that she had also gone to an Introduction Night and when she declined the invitation, she was then bombarded with a barrage of unwanted requests to change her mind. She said the tactics used were intended to make her feel guilty if she did not sign up. As the weeks passed, I began to notice some of the things for which my friend disapprovingly alluded, possibly being played out in various forms. For instance, before the first class began, the center called me on three different occasions to let me know the details of the program. I appreciated the first call. However, the calls continued, annoying me tremendously as the information provided was the same in all calls. By the third call, I informed them that it was not necessary to call repeatedly with the same information; they were wasting my time. Therefore, I politely asked them to cease; only one call with new information was sufficient. Afterwards, they complied and did indeed stop such behavior. I could have interpreted their constant calling, using the information presented by my friend, as a sign that she was correct in their intentions. However, when they stopped calling, I realized they simply had certain processes in place. When they ceased telephoning me repetitively, I ascertained they respected my choices and my wishes. In the meantime, I continued with the course. I found my second friend inquiring about it every time we talked. She told me that she could see a constructive change in me. She wanted to know more about the program. I would answer her questions and then I would invite her to join me during one of the next sessions. She would decline and I did not press further. However, each time she brought up the subject, I would simply invite her again, giving her the opportunity to accept or decline. I find the program to be very worthwhile and I think others may benefit from it. Part of the course involves inspiring others to be enrolled in one's actions for the future, which can be constructive as it can keep one accountable. There has been some confusion, however, as to how one can interpret the word 'inspiring.' I have witnessed on more than one occasion a push by the educational organization to get others physically enrolled in the program. Furthermore, they appear to have been very adamant about students changing their current 'limiting' actions. One night, the instructor would not leave a student alone until they agreed to take the action the instructor requested. Therefore, sometimes many of us interpret their intentions as not taking no for an answer; to (1) continue nagging another until they sign up for the program, or (2) take the organization's requested course of action and apply it to their own lives, even if there is resistance. Although I think the organization's intentions are truly altruistic, and not primarily for monetary reasons, I have issue with pushing any adult into doing something that is not their choice, despite what another or I may think. I am not saying that this is the organization' focus, only that it how it is being interpreted. Therefore, there are those who are not respecting other's wishes and choices. I do not have a problem inviting others to take the course, but I do have difficulty continuing with such invitations when the other person has requested I cease. We all have been given a gift. That gift is the gift of choice. If someone has resistance to our invitation, who are we to say that he or she 'should' give it up? The word 'should' implies we know more than they do...and that is not the case. Each of you has the choice to decide when and what action you want to take, whether it is constructive or destructive. That is your choice! It is not up to another to decide for you. A person does not have permission to tell you what to do, unless invited. Once someone has said 'no,' he or she has effectively stopped giving you permission to reintroduce the subject. It is arrogant to continue visiting the subject because each of us has the spirit of God within to direct us individually. Therefore, if you continue, you are in a state of judgment, because you are assuming you know better than he does or she does. Otherwise, you would respect their wishes and discontinue pursuing the subject. It does not matter that you may think something will benefit them. Only if the other person brings up the subject again, have you been given another permission to invite them. Allow that other person their gift of choice. I found the interpretation of 'inspired' gets convoluted, and therefore, many people may misinterpret the intention of the course. When it comes to any interpretation, I go to spirit and I invite you to do the same. In this particular situation, if you look to Bible scripture, you can find two passages where the word 'inspiration' is used. The Hebrew written Old Testament, Job 32:8 (KJV) says, But [there is] a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. I have found that the original Hebrew meaning of this word in this verse means vital breath, divine inspiration, soul or spirit. Furthermore, the Greek written 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) states, All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, meaning breathed. It is in the breath that the spirit of God lives, as until we take our first breath or exhale our last breath, there is no life. Therefore, inspiration and inspiring are forms of understanding that come from the spirit of God that is within each of us. Inspiring is not to tell another what to do, especially in an overt way, ignoring their will. However, since God is everywhere, He is also within all of us and we all are collectively part of His whole. Therefore, each action we take can inspire another to choose a similar action since our energy is part of the whole of God. Let us turn our attention back to my friend who was so against my involvement in the class. From the beginning of our conversations, I acted with the intention of inspiring by my actions, not using any form of direct coercion. How did this work out? My friend called me this week and told me that she is definitely going to sign up and take the class, despite her initial reservations. It was not because I begged her to do so, guilted her into it, or nagged her to death. She told me she simply saw a difference in me that she too wanted to experience. I inspired her just like my friend who initially invited me had done. You see, it does not take much to affect the life of another. You may not even be aware that you are inspiring others. However, all your actions have an indirect impact on others that can directly affect them forever. You may even be surprised by the power you possess. Your actions can be either constructive or destructive. How do you want to inspire others? My hope is that it is constructively, for as seen in the Law of Attraction, all that you emit comes back to you. Respect others and they will respect you. Herb Chronicles Helping Others Find Joy by Assisting Them in Overcoming Their Story of Adversity Awaken Your Spirit Life an Extraordinary Life! You may be wondering why this newsletter is so late this month. I honestly do not know where the month has gone. My mom always said that the older you are the more time flies. She appears to be right. However, my time seems to be fleeting because I have been extremely busy since the beginning of the year. How about you, have you been overly busy? No, I am not talking about just from celebrating holidays like this month's Valentine's Day. But, I do hope all of you had the benefit and joy of love on that day from someone special, even if it was just a good friend and not a lover. I celebrated more than most this month as February is my birthday month. Furthermore, there was extra activity associated with it. I was overwhelmed with gratitude at how many birthday wishes I received this year. It was awesome! On Facebook alone, I received well over 200 wishes, of which I responded to each. I feel those who took time to send me a message deserved my thanks. My busyness since the beginning of the year can be explained further. Most of you understand that I know of the divine power of numbers and write yearly and monthly predictions on my blog. As 2011 began, I noted that this year is one indicating a heavier workload. Specifically, 2011 represents the number 4, which emphasizes more focus and concentration and the capacity to create more. One can expect determination about goals and have realistic expectations on how to attain them. It is a year to be working and setting down a foundation for achievement, where one's efforts will bring steady growth. In numerological terms, it is a GREAT year to live an extraordinary life! Let us go back to why I am sending this newsletter, despite the fact that it is at the eleventh hour and most people would have skipped doing it for the month. I want to live an extraordinary life and that means living with integrity and going beyond my perceived limits. At the beginning of the year, I reflected on the past few years and I decided to go beyond my current existence. I did not want an ordinary life. I have been living that way for many years and it has not been rewarding. Instead, I want to live an extraordinary life! To do that one must be unreasonable, which means stepping out of one's comfort zone and pushing past the daily grind. It means forcing yourself to take action and to share yourself more fully with others. Furthermore, one must live with integrity, which translates into staying dedicated to one's word. I made a commitment to each of you that I would send a monthly newsletter and had I abandoned this month's letter, no matter how busy I was I would be going against my own personal integrity. I almost failed. However, a close friend of mine encouraged me to accomplish this task today (before the end of the day), reminding me that there are those who find value in my work and who share it with others. I appreciate all of you who have subscribed to my list and do not intend to let you down. It has not been easy. The fall I had a few years ago continues to plague me. Furthermore, I have had other health issues crop up. Sometimes, it is all I can do to get out of bed. However, I want my life to be extraordinary...that means being unreasonable. Reasonable would be to stay in bed when I do not have much energy. Reasonable would be to sit around and wait for things to happen. But I want to go beyond reasonable and ordinary. Those who achieve great things are unreasonable and they may be considered extraordinary. Thomas Edison was unreasonable when he kept trying to invent electricity. He failed over 10,000 times. The ordinary and reasonable would have quit way before Mr. Edison. However, he was unreasonable and therefore, achieved extraordinary things. All of us have this ability. We all can be extraordinary. The spirit within gives us this capacity. However, we often let our physical bodies limit us. The physical is fleeting and temporary. However, the spirit within you lives forever. The spirit within can accomplish anything! Since that spirit of God is within you and is extraordinary, you are also extraordinary! Live to the potential you possess! Live an extraordinary life! Stop holding onto the chatter of your physical mind that limits your progress in life. Take notice of the noise for what it is...a noisy racket that can distract you from your limitless potential. The spirit of God wants you to be your best. The spirit wants you to have an extraordinary life! Have you ever noticed how mothers can function despite the constant commotion of children playing, asking questions, and fighting? Mothers learn to tune out the excess noise, focusing on the important tasks of caring for their children. Let the mother instinct within you guide you to tune out the racket that is distracting you from your unlimited possibilities. I encourage each of you to begin immediately to step out of your physical comfort zone. Reach out to others. We are all part of the whole of God and therefore, share equally in potential. He is love and He is extraordinary. So are you! Why do you not commit yourself to live the possibility of an extraordinary life? By doing so, you will not only enrich your life, but also those around you. Is not it worth it? Distractions - Making Them Constructive Have you ever noticed that when a wrench is thrown in your plans, you can totally shut down? However, if you recognize that things happen and that no one is out to get you, you can dissolve the effect quicker. Instead of destruction and being a distraction to living an extraordinary life, it can simply be a minor nuisance, leaving you more committed to your goal. In other words, it can be constructive, not destructive. For instance, not only did I have health issues this month, but it also seems the universe was throwing other things my way. Perhaps, the same was going on in your life. Remember the weather--that was a doozy of a distraction. For me, I was surprised by an unexpected bill, as my refrigerator, less than ten years old, suddenly went out. It happened during an ice storm, making it harder to shop for a new one. Now, before this year, I would have allowed that situation to upset me for days. However, as I started to fret, I made a committed effort to release the situation for nothing more than something that happened. It did not happen to me; it happened to my refrigerator. It could only affect me destructively if I allowed it. So, instead of being troubled for hours or days, it turned out that I was only disturbed for about five minutes. Yes, it was something that I was unhappy about; as I did not relish spending money that I thought I did not have on such an expensive item. However, as I contemplated it, I instead became thankful that I did indeed have resources enough to pay the bill. In return, I know I was blessed by the universe as the process went very smoothly. Furthermore, I received a $250 governmental rebate currently available for purchasers of certain Energy-Star appliances. Yippee! As you can see, if you do not let outside forces upset you, you can benefit. Let constructive forces occur. Ignore destruction. Things cannot affect you unless you allow them to do so. You too can benefit and be able to reinforce living an extraordinary life! All is within, not outside of you! With this understanding comes peace. This is my wish for you!
