Do Not Let the Ides of March
Get You Down!
We have all heard about the famous 'Ides of March.' The word 'ides' is derived from a Latin word meaning 'half-division' and originally referred to the full moon, which happened about mid-month. In Roman times, mid-March was dedicated to the god Mars. As such, an appropriate military parade was held on the Ides of March to commemorate the god. However, in 44 B.C., the meaning changed somewhat due to an unfortunate event. On that date, Caesar was assassinated. Ever since that time, the 'Ides of March' became known as a foreboding of bad times.
A few days ago, I woke up with a doozy of a dream. In the dream, I was going about my business, working hard. Each day that passed, I felt I was making more and more progress in my business. Life was abundant and good.
However, I soon discovered that there was another person working against me. Every time I instigated a project, this person would go behind my back, telling my customers lies aobut me. The harder I worked, the more diligent this person was in slandering me.
The person did not physically look like a monster in my dream. On the contrary, it was someone whom I had known for a very long time. It was a trusted friend. This 'friend' was in a completely different business than mine when I began my business. In fact, they had told me that they would support me and help make my business thrive in any way they could.
However, as I learned about my friend's shenanigans behind the scenes, it became apparent that my friend had decided to go into the same business as me. Therefore, instead of helping me with my business, my 'friend' had begun a campaign to drive my customers to their own door. I began getting made, wishing ill for that person.
Over time, this so-called 'friend' outsmarted me in every area of my life, not just in the business sense. Not only had they stolen my customers, but they also stole my friends and the love of my life. By the time I woke up, I was extremely angry from the dream.
How many of you have had such dreams--dreams that make you so mad that your whole day seems to be wrecked? This was one such dream.
In the past, I would have wondered about the dream all day long and it may have affected my day in a destructive way, as I would be in a poor mood. However, I have since learned that it is more beneficial to let bad dreams go by the wayside. I know that our thoughts create our world and thinking I am losing everything will simply manifest such. If I woke up and continued to focus on the losses in my dream, it may have a snowball effect just as it did in the actual dream. I choose to think differently.
So. instead of focusing on who would do such a bad thing, I dismissed the dream completely. Why? I recognize that there are those dark forces in the universe who seek to keep humanity from reaching their full potential. That is what bad guys sometimes do...they try to make you so mad that you will not work the constructive path.
Many times, our dreams reflect the best efforts of those dark entities to keep us down. You can always tell by the way you feel after a dream. If the dream does not serve the constructive attributes of love, understanding, compassion, honor, honesty and humility, you can rest assured the dream is being manipulated by dark forces. The key is to recognize this fact, and not allow them to accomplish their task of halting your spiritual ascension.
Yes, it is the Ides of March. With today's sour economy, it is easy for people to think things are bad and getting worse. The god of war, Mars, may be initiating an internal war within you, as methodical as any military campaign. Dark energy may be targeting you. Why? You are already working the constructive path! It is beneficial to remember that the bad guys do not target those who are already on their side. Therefore, do not let the Ides of March get you down. It is just another day--an opportunity for growth!
Spring Fever: Do You Have It?
Well, it is the beginning of Spring. In scientific terms, 'spring fever' is defined as the time when many are filled with an increase in energy, vitality and sexual appetite. Indeed, in recent times, mid-March is associated with Spring Break for students, where many college campus students begin a weeklong party.
Moreover, while many people connect a fever with being ill, there is actual scientific evidence that supports the physical and psychological symptoms that go along with the arrival of Spring. Melatonin is a natural hormone that influences our sleep and energy levels. During winter months, a person's melatonin is high, whereby one wants to 'hibernate' more. However, as Spring advances, the hormone is reduced by more daylight hours. Therefore, one has more energy and alertness. It is no wonder those students want to party, right?
How many of you can say that you have spring fever? To me, 'spring fever' is an oxymoron. Why? A fever implies that we are sick. However, to 'spring' implies forward movement. If we are sick, how can there be forward movement? As shown above, spring fever is an actual scientific phenomenon; not a sickness.
But, what if we look at the term from a spiritual point of view? Might one consider that all of us sometimes go thorugh 'sickness' in the form of adversity before we may have that 'aha' moment that allows us to turn, redirecting to a more beneficial direction? Therefore, in these terms, one would have to conclude that there is forward movement.
Yes...spring fever may be upon you this month. You may be in the midst of some kind of turmoil. However, realize the fever can eventually break. You can feel better soon. It is just a matter of time...you can rise up totally refreshed!
Looking for Love--Where Is It?
So, why may you ask does the search for love seem to run amok with spring fever? It is my opinion that most of us are constantly looking for love. With increased energy, that search for love is multiplied. Many people will do just about anything to obtain the love they perceive they are missing.
However, are you really lacking love? Charles Crooks is a shaman and spiritual advisor. One of his most prolific quotes is, "We are all part of the whole and not separate." Under these circumstances, everything is within, including love. Therefore, considering his statement, it is impossible to be alone and unloved once your realize that you are part of everything.
If you are searching for love, might it be more productive and beneficial for you to allow that love to come from within? You might discover that you never were alone and unloved.
