The Success Beacon! Newsletter

Volume 3, No. 18

Tuesday, November 15, 20111

, you received this email newsletter because you signed up for it at The Success Manual web site. Should you no longer wish to receive email from The Success Manual, you will find the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this personal email message.

Dear ,

Please accept this email message from me, personally, and on behalf of The Success Manual web site at www.successmanual.com and The Prosperity Library website at ww.prosperitybible.com.

Well, it has been far too long since my last newsletter, so I thought I would take this opportunity to provide you with a brief update on The Success Manual site.

First, I want to thank everyone who took the time to send me an email - or even call - after my round of troubles earlier this year. I really cannot thank you enough. Such tremendous words of encouragement, inspiration and love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have not gotten to personally respond to everyone, but somehow I will. In the meantime, please accept my sincere thanks.

Second, I am doing fine. Really. The education of experience - even the most undesirable circumstances - has no substitute. God draws the good out of all and we are meant to go through certain passages in our lives because we need to. Take, for example, an extremely impatient person. More than anything, that person needs to experience events and circumstances that will try and test his or her patience. That is the Law of Attraction working in perfection. How else can an impatient person learn patience? From a book? Not quite. Only through experience.

And, so, from my own events and circumstances, I have learned many shortcomings and imperfections that I was otherwise oblivious to. Now, I can see the good being drawn forth. But, I must continue working with the Law and allow our Infinite Creator to work in me.

Third, the Prosperity Bible site has been broken ad nauseum. Rather than attempt yet another fix to a site that was never properly constructed, we are scrapping it. A new site is being built as I write this and I hope and pray to get it up soon. Stay tuned . . . your patience is appreciated.

The Success Beacon! Newsletter

Volume 2, No. 17

July 19, 2011

, you received this email newsletter because you signed up for it at The Success Manual web site.

In the words of Mark Twain, the great American author, it seems that the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. That being said, however, I can understand why; for indeed, I have all but disappeared from The Success Manual and The Prosperity Bible/Library sites (and more) for the past few months.

On Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, my life undertook the most dramatic turn, and suddenly, I was confronted with the most overwhelming challenges I had ever faced - ever. Within the span of 45 minutes, it seemed that all that I had worked for, all that I had, all that I loved, was lost - including my personal freedom, something that we deeply cherish here in the

United States. My children, my home, my job and career - even my automobile - were either snatched away completely or placed in grave jeopardy.

I will not explain any of the details - yet - as various legal proceedings are still pending. However, I do want to take this opportunity to reach out to those individuals who have supported these sites over the years and to further apologize to ANYONE who purchased The Prosperity Bible Library and did not receive it. Let me assure you, personally, that I will send this magnificent compilation to you - even if you already received a refund from PayPal - to compensate you for your troubles. I was simply not available to address any of these problems.

First, Success Manual will continue. We have many, many ebooks to add to the site, but it may take some time until I am able to fully focus on that project and bringing to you more of the works that we have planned. However, even though the site was down for about 2 weeks (there goes the SEO!), Success Manual is here to stay and stay it will.

Second, if you sent me an email or sent a message using the Success Manual contact form, I will personally respond to your inquiry. All that I would ask at this time is your patience and prayers. I will get back to you - I promise.

Third, again for all purchasers - or those who tried to purchase - The Prosperity Bible/Library, I PROMISE that you will receive the entire multivolume compilation. Even those who tried two months ago and had to seek a refund from PayPal - everyone - will receive the product.

I thank everyone for their amazing support and would ask for your continued support and prayers as I address the many personal issues in my life at the present.

Peace be with you,

Richard

2. SITE NEWS

A few months ago, in November 2010, The Success Manual web site celebrated its ONE Year Anniversary - Hooray, we made it, despite the naysayers.

As such, I thought it would be especially befitting to dedicate this ENTIRE issue of The Success Beacon to The Success Manual site by listing all (well, almost all) of the truly outstanding resources available to you on our site. Simply follow the links in this Newsletter, and your browser will open to the Post page that contains the EBook, Article, Passage, etc.

Immediately below is a complete and present compilation of all of our EBooks available for immediate download at no cost. Following that is a complete and present compilation of all of our Success Articles, including Success Keys, Success Strategies, Success Passages, etc. There is truly great material here and this Newsletter is a prime opportunity to discover some of the resources that you may have missed.

You may want to save this Newsletter, as it contains all of the direct links to each and every download Post and article Post. The Success Manual site is presently not structured to list everything in such manner, so this Newsletter is a great index for future reference.

First things first.

I have a great, highly unique gift for you, as a subscriber to The Success Beacon. Read the following!!

1. Friends Bearing Gifts . . .

We just started offering The Wattles Quotable Bible - 1,000 Quotes from Wallace D. Wattles as a free download for subscribing to this newsletter, in addition to Nothing Succeeds Like Success by Christian D. Larson.

The only other way to get your hands on this unique EBook is to purchase The Success Manual Prosperity Library, where it is included as a Bonus item. It is not available anywhere else - period.

Since you are already subscribed to the Beacon, the only way that you would be able to obtain a copy would be to re-subscribe . . . and that doesn't make sense . . . so . . .

Here's YOUR Free Download to The Wattles Quotable Bible - 1,000 Quotes from Wallace D. Wattles. Just right click 'n save the following Link and this EBook is yours - immediately:

http://bit.ly/etsJYD

The Wattles Quotable Bible actually contains 1,032 quotes, all from The Science of Living Series (Volume One) of The Wattles Prosperity Bible, included in The Success Manual Prosperity Library, and the quotes were extracted from the following works by Wallace D. Wattles:

The Science of Getting Rich
The Science of Being Well
The Science of Being Great
How to Get What You Want
How to Promote Yourself

These works embody the true Wisdom of Mr. Wattles - you can't go wrong here.

What I particularly like about The Wattles Quotable Bible is the fact that I can open to any page, any time, and there are a slew of Wattles' quotes waiting for me that seemingly are always on point and directly applicable to the issue(s) at hand.

It's funny how it works like that.

Again, YOUR link for The Wattles Quotable Bible - 1,000 Quotes from Wallace D. Wattles is:

Comments, feedback and criticism of the above is always welcomed - I would love to hear from you!

2. Was It a Coincidence?

Nothing happens by chance. Read on . . .

Interesting, no sooner had I broadcast the last edition of The Success Beacon, in which I bemoaned the fact that in 2010 I worked harder on my work (effects) than on myself (cause), when I listened to a great audio piece by the late Jim Rohn, in which he stated the following:

1. Work harder on yourself than you do at your job.
2. If you work hard at your job, you can make a living.
3. If you work hard on yourself, you can make a fortune.
4. Success is not something that you pursue, it is something that you attract.

The timing could not have been better.

Coincidence? - NOT!

What is coincidence, as that term is used by the majority? It is a word used by the uninformed to explain the unique, unexplainable timing of events in our lives. Really, it is in the same category as the term/word luck.

But, there are no such things as coincidences and there is no such thing as luck. Everything happens, when it happens, for a reason.

What strange, mysterious and unexplainable coincidence(s) have you had in your life that you KNOW were not really coincidence(s) after all? I would love to hear . . . send me an email!

-----===(*)===-----

3. The Power of Decision - with a Capital D

Speaking of Jim Rohn . . .

I have a HUGE amount of respect for Jim. He never went to college, and yet, became one of the most respected business consultants the world has ever known.

It wasn't easy for Jim. Success is never easy. It takes guts - tremendous guts - to pursue your Dream and make it a reality.

I am working on a post on the Power of Decision (Decision being Thought, the cause of our world of effects), for it IS our Decisions that change and shape our lives and our destiny. We live and die (so to speak) tomorrow based on the Decisions that we make today. And, the present results that we experience today are the accumulated effects of past conscious and subconscious Decision making.

Jim tells a great story how he changed his entire life based on one simple Decision - a Decision that he made when he reached a low point.

Real Decisions - Decisions with a Capital D - are often made when we are at a low point, when we finally take a stand and Decide to raise our standards. It is at these times when we Decide that we will no longer tolerate the situation and we Decide that we deserve and will attain better. We raise our standards.

And so it was with Jim.

After high school, Jim eventually married, had children and found a job. However, life was tough financially. Wherever you live in the world, families and homes require money to support.

One day, a Girl Scout came to Jim's front door selling Girl Scout cookies. She made the best sales presentation possible and Jim really felt obligated to purchase some cookies from her.

There was one small problem. Jim didn't have any money. None. Nothing in his wallet, nothing in his pockets. He had no money to buy Girl Scout cookies.

Embarrassed and not knowing what to do, Jim politely thanked the enthusiastic Girl Scout at his front door and advised her that he had already purchased plenty of cookies from other Girl Scouts. With a warm and friendly smile, the Girl Scout thanked Jim anyways and went on her way.

Jim shut the door and felt awful.

First, he lied to a Girl Scout! As he puts it, how awful can it is to feel compelled to lie to a Girl Scout!

Second, he could not even afford one box of cookies from the Girl Scout.

Jim made a Decision then and there to NEVER AGAIN be in the position where he could not afford a single box of Girl Scout cookies. He made a Decision right then to do whatever it would take so that he could afford Girl Scout cookies - and never lie to a Girl Scout!

There are decisions, and then there are DECISIONS. Jim made a DECISION.

Real Decisions - the ones with a Capital D are lasting. Come hell or high water, we do not waver, we hold our ground, we refuse to yield to temptation and circumstance. There is immense Power in Real Decisions. Life changing POWER.

Keep your eyes opened for The Power of Decision article to be posted soon at The Success Manual.

4. The Success Manual Download Library

The Success Manual Free Download Library now comprises a total of 77 Free Success EBooks. Usually, I list them all in each issue of The Success Beacon, but I am going to save some space today. Visit our site - they are all there for free and immediate download.

Also, in case you have not noticed, we added a new download category to the Success Manual site: The Napoleon Hill Success Library. Given the number of Napoleon Hill EBooks that we have made available - including The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons (with each Lesson comprising a separate EBook) - it seemed only proper that Mr. Hill should have his own separate wing dedicated to his writings at the Success Manual Library.

The Napoleon Hill Success Library category may be accessed at:

http://bit.ly/i0b8LY

And, here are the individual works by Mr. Hill that may be accessed and downloaded from our site:

Success Beacon Newsletter
Vol. 2, No. 13
Wednesday, January 12, 2011

You are receiving this email newsletter as a verified subscriber from The Success Manual site at www.successmanual.com. If you wish to unsubscribe, you may do so at the bottom of this email.

Dear ,

Greetings and welcome to the first edition of The Success Beacon in the New Year. Let me start my extending to you my very best wishes and prayers for a warm, prosperous and HEALTHY 2011!

I also want to take this opportunity to extend to you my sincere appreciation for supporting our site, The Success Manual (www.successmanual.com), and for subscribing to this Newsletter.

The Success Manual is celebrating its first anniversary - we made it through our very first year. It is astounding how fast the year went, but yet, so much has happened. Thank you for making this all possible.

The Success Manual endeavors to provide critical information, including the greatest Success Classics of all time as downloadable EBooks, to help YOU Grow and to assist YOU on your journey to Succeed in Life. Yet, our site - and this Newsletter - are very young and we, too, are working through our own challenges as we trek this learning curve. But, thanks to the tremendous support by our readers, viewers and subscribers, we have made tremendous gains in 2010.

No resting on our laurels (to the extent we have them ;-) ); this is only the beginning and we are planning and strategizing to bring even greater Value to you in 2011. Stay with us; the trip will be worth it.

********

This is a FULL issue of The Beacon - please be sure to read all of the way through, since I have an important announcement and need YOUR help!

-----===(*)===-----

1. The Year of ME?

I have always had a quirky habit of giving new calendar years a theme, which I then implement into my life throughout the entire year. Providing a real Purpose for the year truly helps maintain Focus, fosters Congruence in Thought and Action, and provides underlying meaning.

This year is no different. I have decided that 2011 is going to be the Year of Me.

Before you draw an inaccurate conclusion, please let me explain.

First, the very next section of this Newsletter explains WHY 2011 will be the Year of Me. After reading about my mistakes, hopefully you will come to understand what the Year of Me is really all about.

Second, the ultimate purpose of this discussion is that I am going to ask YOU to create YOUR own Theme for 2011 and then email me Your Theme and why you chose it. If we receive enough responses, we will attempt to work the information into a post to share with all. We need your input!

The Success Manual is a great repository of information that we have compiled and make available to everyone. Yet, the site needs more community involvement, for it is clear that there is so much that we can offer each other (that is another lesson learned in 2010). Part of our Goals for 2011 is to refocus the site so that our members, readers and subscribers take a more active role in the ever-evolving process of this experiment called The Success Manual.

, I personally ask that you register with the site and post comments to the material posted on the site. Everyone counts and everyone has something to offer.

WE NEED YOU.

-----===(*)===-----

2. Did YOU Make These Mistakes in 2011?

That all being said, here is the quick version of why I have decided to make 2011 the Year of Me.

********

Mistake No. 1

In 2009, I had established certain Goals on a number of levels. By the end of that year, I had achieved some, but not all of those Goals (results).

In my subsequent analysis of the missed Goals of 2009, I drew certain conclusions (feedback) and decided to make certain Strategy changes for 2010. And, as to those 2009 Goals that I did not realize, I simply bumped them one year: they became, in part, my 2010 Goals. So far, so good - right?

Stay with me.

Most significant of the Strategy changes for 2010 was to do more: get up earlier, work later, work harder, more effort, better attitude, etc. In other words, of the conclusions that I drew as to why I missed certain Goals for 2009, the primary reason, I believed, was that I simply need to do more; I wasn't doing enough.

I then implemented my 2010 Strategy towards my 2010 Goals.

Guess what? I attained some, but not all of my 2010 Goals. And, more telling, the 2010 Goals that I failed to reach were the VERY SAME 2009 Goals that I failed to reach!

Simply doing more was not the answer for 2010. And I already know it cannot be the answer for 2011, because, quite frankly, I don't have much more time in which I could do more. On a pure time management basis, working harder, longer, etc., i.e., doing more, is NOT the Strategy change that is going to work.

Jim Rohn once said, If you want more of the same, keep doing what you've been doing.

Let's take Jim's Wisdom one step further: If you really want MORE of the same, then do even MORE of what you've been doing.

If you read my post from last week on Quality Change at The Success Manual (at http://bit.ly/e6wpYC), I included a video of Anthony Robbins (it is a great 20 minute clip, but be warned he uses some profanity). In the video, he states around 1:20 something to the effect of if not much has changed for you in the past 10 years, it is because you are still running the same patterns.

Well, that is also what happened to me in 2010 as to the failed Goals. I ran the same patterns in 2010 as in 2009 but for one perspective: I simply ran them harder.

So, in retrospect, I really didn't change the failed 2009 Strategies. All I really did in 2010 (as to the 2010 Goals not achieved) was just MORE of what I did in 2009 (as to the 2009 Goals not achieved). I changed Quantity; I did not change Quality.

MISTAKE NO. 1: Simply doing more is not a qualitative Effective Strategy Change. It's just doing more.

********

Mistake No. 2

Further reflection on why I failed to achieve certain 2010 Goals reveals another major snafu.

I have written on The Success Manual and in this Newsletter about the trap of busy-ness, and how we must always be mindful of the Law of Cause and Effect. Well, did I get caught in my own trap!

In hindsight, what I failed to do in 2010 was work on my internal factors, the true cause of my external world of effects. I was so caught up in the moment of working on the outside stuff - doing more, working harder, etc. - that I neglected to work on the inside stuff, i.e., MYSELF.

I had my Goals, but I lost my Vision - my Image.

There is a difference. Goals are more external, tangible, and objective to third parties. Vision, however, is more internal; it is how we see things not as they are, but as they will be.

Vision is our Guiding Principle. Establishing - and achieving - Goals helps us realize (manifest) our Vision.

Going back to the teachings of my mentor,
Bob Proctor, it is now apparent that I got caught up in working on the effects and not the cause of my results. That's what working harder usually means.

Interestingly, I listened to an interview just last week between my friend
David Riklan of SelfGrowth.com and Marci Shimoff, author of the NY Times best sellers Chicken Soup for the Woman, Happy for No Reason, and her new release Love for No Reason, and other best sellers (Marci has sold approximately 20 million books since about 1995. Yup, that's MILLION).

Now, Marci is great friends with Jack Canfield, who (among other amazing achievements) co-authored of the original Chicken Soup for the Soul. Jack is incredibly successful and literally doesn't have to work another day for the rest of his life. And yet, he continues - striving to achieve even more.

During the interview, Marci related that, to this day, when she attends a top-tier self improvement, personal development program and Jack is also in attendance, he sits as close as possible to the speakers, actively participates, and takes pages and pages of notes. Jack is right there in the trenches, continuing to work on himself.

So, here is Jack Canfield - best selling author, Success Guru, speaker, etc. - a person who teaches self improvement, personal development and Success achievement at the highest level, STILL Learning, Growing, Developing. In other words, he is still working on himself, his inner world.

My takeaway: We must always continue working on our Inner World of Cause. When we stop, we slide. We either Grow or we die. There is no standing still.

In hindsight, in 2010, on many levels, I was standing still internally while focusing strongly on the external. Big Mistake.

MISTAKE NO. 2: Stay focused on the Internal Vision and never stop working on the Inner Cause of the Outer world of Effects.

********

This isn't all that I have learned from 2010. But, these may be my two biggest blunders - or at least what seems so right now. The key, for me, is to take away the Wisdom taught in these lessons, and implement effective change. Otherwise, the lessons are useless.

It has been said by many that we learn more from our mistakes than from our Successes. I hope to learn plenty from mine.

Food for thought. Don't let my mistakes be your mistakes.

-----===(*)===-----

3. Back to the Year of ME - and YOU.

And so, my theme for 2011 is The Year of Me - simply meaning that I will be getting back to basics and focusing on the cause of my external world of effects: my internal world, my thinking, my beliefs, my visions.

Effective change without starts with effective change within.

As a start (only as a start), I have already set forth in writing changes to my patterns, which I have already implemented. Not just more, but new and different approaches.

What were YOUR results in 2010? Did you get more of the same? Are you running the same patterns now as you were running one, five or ten years ago, or have you effectuated true Quality Change? Are you focusing on Effects and not on Causes?

I need YOUR help and participation -

Dear ,

First, I want to thank you and everyone for supporting our site and for the amazing response to my last email. I will be incorporating everything that I have learned from our community into a special post in the very near future. I am grateful and humbled.

Second, we recently changed the Newsletter Subscriber process on our site. As of now, anyone who subscribes to The Success Beacon receives a link to download, at no cost, Nothing Succeeds Like Success, a short - but very, very powerful - article by Christian D. Larson.

Nothing Succeeds Like Success is not part of our Download Library. It is only available to new subscribers to The Success Beacon.

Since you are already a subscriber, you would not be able to obtain your copy of this great work, unless you subscribed again using a different email address.

As such, I am sending you this special email message with a direct download link so that you may obtain your copy of Nothing Succeeds Like Success without having to re-subscribe.

Here it is:

Dear ,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and everyone else for the amazing support, comments and prayers when our Success Manual site was hacked over the weekend. It took three days to work out the kinks, but everything is working just fine - so please feel free to come by and download any (or all, it is up to you) of our 65 Success Ebooks - there is no charge, no obligation, nada, zilch . . .

The next issue of The Beacon will be going out later today, so stay tuned for some great stuff!

I urge you to read the following brief article. It addresses an interesting, and I believe, often confusing point regarding "The Law of Attraction."

-----===(*)===-----

Question: Did I attract the person(s) responsible for hacking the Success Manual site?

One of the emails that I received from a regular visitor of the Success Manual site raised an interesting point - that under The Law of Attraction, I attracted the individual(s) responsible for the hacking - and the hacking itself.

Did I?

Strong advocates of The Law of Attraction would say "yes." Others would beg to differ.

Here is my take - but it is only opinion, for it cannot be proven, and is based on Belief (and Faith):

First, although it is referred to as The LAW of Attraction, I don't really believe it is a "Law" in the pure scientific sense, since we cannot prove or disprove it through scientific experimentation. We cannot reproduce it and it doesn't produce equal (identical) results each time under the same set of facts and circumstances. That is what makes a "Law" a "Law."

Rather, The Law of Attraction is essentially a "Principle" or "Theory." There is ample evidence to show that it exists - at some level - and that it influences, impacts and even directs the course of our lives. It is quite indisputable that we DO become/achieve what we think about. But, that is because the thoughts we harbor within our conscious and subconscious minds always find a means of external expression. What we internally impress must be - eventually - externally expressed.

That is the basis of modern psychology.

And, I personally believe that the thoughts that we harbor within, especially those on a consistent basis, are broadcast outward and do strike resonance with those individuals who think in similar fashion.

Birds of feather flock together. Like attracts like. That is the essence of The Law of Attraction.

But, there is another powerful variable that The Law of Attraction does not take into account and which, in my opinion, can override its effects: Free Will.

We were all given by our Creator Free Will. That is what separates us from animals, which operate under instinct. That is what allows us to choose or reject any thought, opinion, belief, principle, etc. We can choose to believe what we want; we can choose to act how we want. That is what makes us human.

If the Law of Attraction were a true "Law," it could be studied, reproduced and developed to greater and greater levels of power. It could then be exploited. I would be able to tap into its amazing powers and utilize it to take control of other humans, directing them to do what I want.

We would all be zombies, trying to out influence each other through our thoughts.

That is not to say that our thoughts do not influence each other; they do. You know when someone is mad; they don't have to tell you. You sense it.

Thought IS powerful. Very, very powerful!

And so, I personally do not believe that I attracted the individual(s) responsible for hacking my site. I have never really thought about it, never feared it, etc. other than to take the reasonable security measures that we all must undertake when engaging in any online activity.

Sometimes, as the saying goes, "Sh*t happens" and it especially happens when people do what people do. There are many things outside of our control, particularly when it comes to human activity and behavior. (Did the people of

New Orleans collectively attract Hurricane Katrina and all its devastation? Do innocent child victims of war attract the heinous acts of war? Do innocent victims of terrorism attract the terrorist activities that snuff out their lives? Did the holocaust victims attract the concentrations camps and the resulting genocide? We can go on and on, and true advocates of The Law of Attraction may say "yes." I disagree.)

"Sh*t happens." That is because we have all been endowed by our Creator with this magnificent thing called FREE WILL. It can be used for the Greatest Good and it can be used for the worst of evil.

Thank God you have it.

Talk to you later today . . . again, thank you everyone for all of your support!

Success Beacon Newsletter

Vol. 1, No. 10

Thursday, December 02, 2010

You are receiving this email newsletter as a verified subscriber from The Success Manual site at www.successmanual.com. If you wish to unsubscribe, you may do so at the bottom of this email.

Dear ,

Greetings! Welcome to the latest edition of The Success Beacon Newsletter.

, do you believe in Miracles? Well, I do - but you will have to read through the entire Beacon to hear more about what I have to say on the subject! Read on!

We have much to cover - and you are busy - so let's get going. Please be sure to read all of the way through - it's all good stuff and you will not want to miss any of it.

-----===(*)===-----

1. Busy-ness vs. Business

December is a great month. Not only is it the end of the year and the holiday season is upon us, but it is a time when we begin to reflect on the fading old year and set our sites on the upcoming new year. (More on that below)

It is also likely your busiest time of year. As a result, more than ever, we tend to allow ourselves to fall victim to our busy-ness, while not paying attention to our business - internal and external. There is a difference, and maintaining a proper, healthy balance is critical to not only staying the course to Success, but further, to living a sane, productive and fulfilling life.

If you are a regular visitor to The Success Manual (www.successmanual.com), you are likely aware of my philosophy that all Success - in ANY endeavor - begins with our thinking and thought processes. As a man thinketh in his heart, so shall he be. The thoughts that we harbor within, particularly those on a consistent basis, become engrained habit and conditioning - our subconscious blueprint so to speak - that literally drives (consciously and subconsciously) our emotions and actions, which ultimately determine our results.

The origins of our present thought habits and thinking processes may likely a function of past conditioning, what others (parents, teachers, colleagues, etc.) told us (and we believed), what we read and hear on television, in newspapers or the Internet - just about from any source. As functioning, rational adults, we are free to either accept or reject what we hear, read or are told; as children, however, we tended to believe most, if not all, of what entered our little minds - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

We live in a true cause and effect world. The cause is our thoughts and internal conditioning. The effects are the results we achieve (or fail to achieve). As such, if we honestly and sincerely desire to change our results (the world without), we MUST first change ourselves (the world within). In order to do something, we must first BE something.

Indeed, the byline on the Success Manual site states it simply and thusly: Achieving Success One Thought at a Time!

But, what happens when we become too wrapped up and absorbed in our external busy-ness? Inevitably, we stop focusing on the internal, i.e., ourselves, and instead, we focus - in unbalanced and usually distorted fashion (based on our faulty conditioning) on the external - which is, in truth, only manifested past results. We lose sight of the true cause, erroneously trying to fix the effects. We stop paying attention to what we are paying attention to.

Think how often this happens: Full steam ahead with nobody at the helm!

Yesterday's results are yesterday's results. They may not be the results we desire, but focusing exclusively on changing PAST results, while not working on the true cause of what shall determine tomorrow's results, is simply working on the wrong end of matter. We may think we are working on a solution; instead, we are really only focusing on the problem. A subtle distinction of massive difference.

That is not to say we should not, nor need not, take appropriate Action. Of course, we must take appropriate Action if we desire something different. But, the emphasis is on appropriate and we certainly are not going to attain a different result if our Actions are the same as yesterday.

Do you want more of what you already got? Then keep doing what you have been doing. I promise you it will work perfectly.

Okay, so why this particular lesson now? Because I am guilty as charged, Your Honor.

The other night, as I was putting my day to bed (a highly effective and beneficial routine), I began reciting certain favorite affirmations when I realized that I have not been doing my internal homework for a long, long time. I have been so absorbed in getting everything done on my lists each day, that I have been spending virtually no time on working on myself - my internal self. Perhaps that is the precise reason why I have been failed to achieve certain desired results lately, falling short of my Goals. Crossing items off my to do lists (which, typically comprise 30-50 items at any given time) does NOT equate with obtaining desired results.

Yes, I must tackle these items. But to do so with full force to the exclusion and neglect of ever-required maintenance of the internal cause IS the proverbial ship full steam ahead with no one at the helm.

We can run like hamsters on our wheels, spending absurd amounts of time and energy being busy, but where does this get us? Just as I quoted, above: Want more of what you already got? Then keep doing what you have been doing.

We need a clear, concise visual image of ourselves and that which we desire. We must see things not as they are, but as they will be. That is true vision and if we are to Succeed, we must hold this image in the forefront our minds at all times.

5. Speaking of . . . .

Definiteness of Plan

Definiteness of Purpose

Those were two of the Success Keys preached by the Master of Success, Napoleon Hill, many years ago. Both Success Keys continue to ring true today.

You simply cannot Succeed in any context without either Definiteness of Plan and Definiteness of Purpose - and the two MUST be congruent with each other and YOUR belief system (ask Anthony Robbins). Which is just one more reason why The Success Manual 2011 Success Planner makes so much sense!

We love Napoleon Hill so much at The Success Manual that we decided to create a new post category in his honor: The Napoleon Hill Download Library. All Napoleon Hill download materials and ebooks will be posted in both The Success Manual Free Download Library AND The Napoleon Hill Download Library.

Thanksgiving and the Art of Gratitude

Here in the

United States, Americans gathered with family and friends on Thursday, and, indeed for this entire four-day weekend, to celebrate the most cherished of our country recognized holidays: Thanksgiving.
The Thanksgiving holiday is grounded in deep tradition, originating hundreds of years ago when early settlers of this country, escaping from religious persecution in their European homelands, gathered with native Americans to partake in their annual rites of feast and celebration to give thanks after bountiful harvests of grains, vegetables and fish.
The symbolism is as profound and meaningful today as it was in the 1600s. We gather together, family and friends, to enjoy the abundance in our lives and to give thanks. It is as simple as that.
The heart of Thanksgiving - a true recognition of the abundance of which we have been blessed and to give thanks to our Creator for all of the good in our lives - is a powerful mental and spiritual attitude. Much has been written on the attitude of gratitude on SuccessManual.com and elsewhere. Being grateful for all that is good in our lives, despite the fact that there may simultaneously exist undesirable circumstances and events, is immensely powerful and empowering. When we focus - and give thanks - for that which is good, we shift our paradigm from that which is bad (or, more accurately, from that which we perceive as bad, for, as Shakespeare stated, what makes something good or bad is only our saying so), to the good.
Seeing (and being grateful for) the good in life is a major paradigm shift. We are all aware of the oft-repeated adage that we may either look at the glass half empty or the glass half full.
And so, on Thanksgiving Day, Americans from all walks of life gather together, refrain from looking at the glass half empty, and express, to the best of our abilities, true gratitude for all that we have been blessed.
Thanksgiving is a beautiful holiday.
But, how many of us return to our old ways after the holiday? Indeed, the day after Thanksgiving has been named Black Friday, in reference to the mad, insane shopping and sales phenomena that takes place on that day in anticipation of the Christmas holy day yet a month away (Thanksgiving always takes place on the fourth Thursday of November, so the following day - Black Friday - is always on a Friday).
Black Friday is insane. Stores open at 3:00 and 4:00 am. In fact, one famous department store chain opened at midnight! Traffic is a mess, as a significant portion of the population takes to the roads to hit their favorite stores looking for bargains. Customers begin lining up at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning - some never even taking time to rest or sleep after their Thanksgiving feast! Patience in many tends to run short. Tempers occasionally flare when customers compete for limited stock (or at least at the bargain prices).
Other than the dinner leftovers in the refrigerators, Thanksgiving is already forgotten within the following 24 hours.
Don't get me wrong - I love the excitement of the entire weekend and the anticipation of the Christmas holy season, too. Even the insanity of Black Friday has a certain appeal, as we are now into the official Christmas holiday (commercial) season. In fact, many of my family members partake in the annual Black Friday shopping ritual because, in addition to obtaining great bargains on items that may not be available in a couple of weeks, they simply find it fun. They enjoy the madness, go with the flow, and don't take the extravaganza too seriously.
Yet, I question what happens to our so-called Attitude of Gratitude from the previous day.
We need to maintain, and strengthen, our Gratitude EVERY day. It is easy for just about everyone to find it in their hearts to give thanks and express some level of Gratitude on Thanksgiving Day. It comes easy, it comes naturally. It is an annual tradition and ritual, and consciously or not, we prepare for it emotionally and spiritually. When Thanksgiving Day arrives, we have been so conditioned over the years, that it is simply natural to put aside or trials, tribulations and differences, gather with family and friends, feast and give thanks.
Can we cultivate that natural flow of unconditional expression of Gratitude every day? Absolutely. Do we? No, not really. But, what if we did . . . ?
Honest and sincere Gratitude, like many character virtues - most obvious being Patience - MUST be practiced in order for us to become Grateful. The only way to become a Patient person is to practice Patience, particularly when the events and circumstances in our lives seemingly compel anything but Patience. The only way to become a Peaceful and Serene individual is to practice Peacefulness and Serenity, particularly when the events and circumstances in our lives seemingly compel anything but Peacefulness and Serenity. The only way to become a Kind and Loving person is to practice Kindness and to Love, particularly when the events and circumstances in our lives seemingly compel anything but being Kind and giving Love.
And so on and so forth.
Gratitude is more than an Attitude. It is an Art. Attitudes can come and go; they are fleeting. But, when practiced, we may transform that which changes like the weather into that which is stable and lasting. Maintaining a true and lasting state of honest and sincere Gratitude is an Art to be practiced and cultivated if we are ever to reap the fruit.
I urge you to practice and develop the Art of Gratitude. It takes time, effort, and of course, Patience. Take time, as much as possible, to reflect and meditate (usually in solitude, if only for a few minutes at a time) on that for which you really are Grateful. Read Success Manuals that teach and expound upon the Power of Gratitude. Write your Gratitudes in your personal Success Manual Journal often - daily, if you can. When you find yourself overwhelmed with negativity of any kind, you must find time to stop and reflect and break that funk. Repetition, repetition, repetition. That is how the Art is developed.
Live in Thanksgiving everyday, for everyday that we live, we must be Thankful. Thanksgiving should not be a one-day annual event.
The true Student of Success will come to understand and realize the miraculous Power inherent in cultivating the Art of Gratitude and the amazing impact that an inner State of

Gratitude has on the external events and circumstances of our lives.
Do you seek Success in your Life? Start by being Grateful for that which you have been blessed. Abundance, Prosperity and Success abound, but you will fail to see, realize and experience the bounty if you cannot, or will not, work with the Law of Gratitude. The Power of Gratitude cannot be overstated.
Live the Art of Gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone - in the

U.S. and all around the world.
Until next time . . . .
Namasté!
To your Health, Wealth, Prosperity and Success,
Richard
